  1. The "giving up of more foods" really hits home. I am currently gluten, corn, soy and dairy free- almost NO processed ANYTHING (except Erewhon Rice Krispies), and STILL I'm not symptom-free! But I truly am MUCH better. I make everything I eat from scratch and trust NO ONe- not even my MOM! I make my own rice milk, vanilla, grind my own salt, grow my own...
  2. Sierra, Welcome to the board! I'm sorry, no info for West Coast, I'm from the East Coast, but wishing you well. This is a great place with tons of helpful people! lisa
  3. I thought I would just look in my food log and list the symptoms I had: Bloating/Distension abdominal pain/Left-side "stitch" pain-intense at night "pointy pain"-like glass in intestines intense lower back pain, especially all night constipation/diarrhea alternating RED eyes, chancre sores, sore, cracked lips yellow stools, heartburn crampy morning...
  4. If that weren't so pathetically sad, it's pretty funny. How can medical people not be at least dimly aware of this concern by now? I think, like you and Carla, I would feel out the situation and in a hospital setting just say "celiac'. Thanks everyone for your help! lisa
  5. Yes, I was wondering about those stupid stickers they put on fruits and vegetables now- I've been cutting that part of the fruit off. Do you suppose those stickers are safe, anyone? thanks lisa Actually I'm asking because I think I may have had a glutening and wonder if they're the culprit- missed some in a salad.
  6. Leah and everyone Thank you so much for the biscuit recipe and others for the other ideas! When I get brave, I may try them out. Still just eating fish, meat, veggies and fruits- some rice milk and rice krispies. I'm not daring because I still have some symptoms and I seem sensitive to SO much!!! Oh well... it's much better than it was. Be well everyone...
  7. I did a gluten challenge and got so sick, I'm PARANOID about gluten! But, yes, a hot buttered homemade toast sure would be nice. eKatherine, sure do wonder about those biscuits you mentioned- could you share the recipe? I don't know if that's "off-topic", sorry. lisa
  8. My wbc is routinely around 3 - 3.8. Has always stirred up a bit of an uproar but dates back to childhood. Check your records from as long ago as you can find them- you may be on the "low" side of things. This is also a documented celiac condition from the medical journals I have read. Feel better! lisa
  9. Natlay All I can say is, I have all the same intolerances. If I am to understand that is a picture of you, I'm much older than you, but the tongue, throat thing in many different manifestations is quite common in reaction to ????? I think, for me, hormones play a role. (I am very near to menopausal age) I would stick to plain, whole foods- eat very simply...
  10. It sounds like everyone is sending you down the most likely paths, but, just to keep in the back of your mind- have you been checked for Lyme disease? Given where you live and the wide variety of symptoms it can cause, I just thought you might want to check it out as well. My sister and close friends who've had it have had every different kind of symptom...
  11. Tavi and Plantime have argued beautifully that "support" does not mean no questions. The best relationships are those in which adults meet adults in mutual respect and have the "chops" to deal when one or the other asks tough questions of the other. Without this, people are just "nice", a word I've come to despise. I, personally, don't want "nice", I...
  12. Izak's Mom Thank you for providing those codes. lisa
  13. Something's not right. Always pray for the kids. lisa
  14. Thank you all. Yes, I agree, I would never trust any food in a hospital; it's clear how much even medical people don't know or understand regarding this issue. I appreciate all your thoughts. Basically, as we all already know- we're on our own. Man, we need more researchers. lisa Oh yes, after my endoscopy/colonoscopy & coming out of anesthesia...
  15. Karen, Thank you; that is a good way of putting it and what an annoying response. But, you're right- who cares as long as they get the picture. lisa
  16. Hello All, Having just had to go to an emergency room (viral thing), I'm wondering what or how or if those of you who've been diagnosed "gluten-intolerant" as opposed to "celiac" tell medical people about your condition. I needed to reveal this because of being given antibiotics- have not even told my regular physician or Ob-Gyn, and it feels so awkward...
  17. I seem to have worse symptoms with my period- so, I think hormones must play a role in it. Or maybe I keep getting glutened during my period, but that's seems a bit convenient! Hope you try Enterolab- then you'll have a bit more to go on. Good luck! lisa
  18. Hello, Kate, Welcome to the board! lisa
  19. Lorka, Thank you, also, for the other list. Can you see the Canadian flag flying behind my son in the avatar pic? We love your country. (That was in Quebec City- my second home) lisa
  20. Kaycee, Mine looks like yours only no calorie count. Just everything that goes in my mouth-don't log times- just breakfast/lunch/dinner. Don't snack ever really. ALWAYS how I felt all day and what kind of night I had. (Many of my digestive issues wake me up at night-FUN!!!) It is helpful at times and frustrating at other times when I can't seem to find...
  21. I'm not sure because I am a bit new as well, but HLA-DQ1 are gluten-intolerance genes. I have two of these, sub-type 5 and 6, and it kind of looks like that's what you have as well. Basically it means the same as celiac in that your body does not like gluten! Having two means you got one from Mom and one from Dad and you need to refrain from eating gluten...
  22. Lorka Yes, thank you! I've been "down for the count" for a couple of days. Feeling a little better now. lisa
