  1. I've worked around doctors for 20 years so I'm not easily intimidated by them. I would have been forced to have a risky cardiac catheterization if I didn't question their diagnosis, and found out the cardiologists I was sent to was only out to make money. I'm sorry. Medicine is a business. I found out from another doctor that there was NOTHING wrong with...
  2. And what about "symptoms" that don't show up as diarrhea? I had really bad arthritis in my hips leading to a bilateral hip replacement. If I had known, I would have probably never gotten the arthritis. I haven't had diarrhea so bad over the years to make me think I had gluten intolerance. I just felt lousy and attributed it to getting older.
  3. Can anyone please tell me how to read this part of the test results? HLA-DQB1 Molecular analysis, Allele 1 0302 HLA-DQB1 Molecular analysis, Allele 2 0601 Serologic equivalent: HLA-DQ 3,1 (Subtype 8,6) What acutally does this say? Thanks! Diana
  4. I submitted mine to NJ Plus (Blue Cross Horizon) and I'm still waiting for a response. I called and they said I have a $100 deductable and then 70% will be reimbursed....It's been a couple of weeks.
  5. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I will get those cookbooks. This morning it was difficult. I woke up and I couldn't get back to sleep because I was upset. Then I thought: "Maybe these results are wrong, who know's this lab could be not a good lab and the doctor who did the tests is incompetent" Would you call that "denial"? I'm bummed today. My sister...
  6. Corn spaghetti? Sounds....interesting. I must try it. Rice spaghetti is kind of mushy. Do they have it in Wild Oats or Whole Foods? Lucky for me I never could tolerate Dunkin Donuts. The cloves in them gave me indigestion. except the chocolate ones... never mind. Why torture myself. You do realize I have a lot of cleaning out the pantry...
  7. Thank you ladies (sniff) How long does it take for the wheat cravings to stop? I was almost 4 weeks and I was still having cravings... You know this is really hard for an Italian to hear. Spaghetti was my favorite. Yeah, I know, rice spaghetti. yuck. Thank you for the cat compliment. He knows he's cute. When he wants me to feed him he roles...
  8. NNOOOOOOOOO! I have it.... I don't understand what all these tests means but....I have the celiac gene..... It's difficult to except. I thought I was milk intolerant. I was hoping I wasn't gluten intolerant.
  9. You meant "No way" right? Just go to www.enterolab.com and read the information from Dr. Fine. Biopsies are NOT conclusive. You just might not have damage yet. People on this forum have had evetensive blood work, biopsies, endoscopies, all negative and TOLD by their GI's that they didn't have gluten intolerance or celiac sprue. They would then have...
  10. It's 14 days today and no report... I emailed them to try to expidite it... Maybe they found a whole lot of things that's why it's taking so long!
  11. Hello? I'm sorry, I don't mean to be rude, but did I just mention Enterolab? For $99 you can know once and for all if you are gluten intolerant. Never mind your insurance and what the doctors are saying. Do it for yourself. I asked my doctor if he'd like the results and he was really interested and said "Yes!" Queen, you sound just like me! I...
  12. If you get tested by Enterolab you do not have to go back to eating gluten. Good lord, you should be tested immediately by Enterolab. They are more reliable than any blood test or biopsy. I will not get a biopsy done! They detect gluten intolerance without eating gluten. Please, get tested. You sound pretty sick.
  13. Grasshopper. HA! HA! HA! funny! Thanks for the support. I guess to say "I'm DYING to know!" would not be funny... in this case huh? Maybe I'll find out tomorrow!
  14. Cripe, Enterolab takes a long time to do a test. I'm used to blood tests within a few days. Tomorrow it will be two weeks I've been waiting for results. Needless to say, I've fallen off the wheat wagon a few times. This is NOT easy. I hope the test is negative, but considering how I feel when I eat wheat, indigestion, acid reflux, a general feeling of...
  15. I recommend the pillow. If you sleep on your side, it will really help relieve the soreness.
  16. Sorry to say but a lot of Medicine is a money making business. If they do a biopsy they make money. I had a cardiologist try to con me into having a cardiac catheterization because of a "shadow" on my stress test that turned out to be just that. A shadow from my breast making it look like my artery was clogged. I had another opinion and the other doc said...
  17. I bought a Tempurpedic pillow and within a week my TMJ was gone. The pillow relievd the pressure and allowed it to heal. I was amazed as I bought the pillow for my neck pain. It's still gone by the way.
  18. My sister's husband has bumps under his skin and she took him to a neurologist. He has some kind of abnormal benign tumors growing along the nerves. They can be removed but she said they can grow back. He has them on his legs I think.
  19. I received my stool test kit and I'm sending it back tomorrow so I'll know once and for all. It also includes the free cows milk test which I'm interested in because I was allergic to milk as an infant but grew out of it. I've been gluten free for about 3 weeks now and I noticed less bloating and much less indigestion. I was getting pressure, and gas...
  20. I tried Feosol. That stuff made me feel weird. Ferrous gluconate is derived from plants. It's the most gentle on the system of all the iron supplements. That's why I recommend it. You're only other option is to eat a lot of red meat and liver and take vitamin C with it or eat/drink citrus with it when you do for easier absorption. Don't drink cow's milk...
  21. Hi, My sister decided to give up wheat and she has had a headache that's lasting days with associated neck pain. The pain is on the top of her head and over one eye. Has anyone had symptoms like this when giving up wheat? I only had cravings and some irritability.
  22. I'm a grinder too. I mean I was one. I've been doing it less since I got older and now for some reason I sleep with my mouth open instead of clench.
  23. I've been anemic on and off most of my life, even eating meat. I take FERGON which is ferrous gluconate. It's iron derived from plants instead of mined. Regular ferrous sulfate made me insanely irregular. I can't tolerate it. Most stores carry Fergon. Walgreens, Rite-Aid..... That's very interesting that when you went gluten free, your iron levels...
  24. You've had these severe symptoms for 11 years and you never went to a GI? In my twenties I didn't have constipation but I had severe cramping and then diarrhea. I went to a regualr internest after just a month or so of symptoms, (not 11 years!) and was diagnosed with Irritable bowel syndrome. You should really see a GI and not be asking us. It could be...
  25. There's a guy on an MSN groups for hip replacements, which I have bilateral hips replaced due to congenital hip abnormality. He's American and he moved to France because he loves the french so much. He always raved about how wonderful the health care is there. Even the food they serve in the hospital is gourmet. He included pictures of his menu when he...
