Mayflowers replied to chgomom's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yes there is. Come up to the millenium... Or did you not read my post? I said don't take my word for it. Try it yourself before you start saying "there is no cure for the cold" -
ARCHIVED Gluten Sensitivity Vs. Celiac Disease
Mayflowers replied to CantEvenEatRice's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have a celiac gene and a gluten intolerance gene. Enterolab said for all intensive purposes, I have "celiac disease" due to the immune reaction and the malabsorption, and I should be officially diagnosed by an MD. I've been gluten free since August and I know one thing..my indigestion, acid reflux and bloating are GONE! I work in a medical school... -

People need to know that ELDERBERRY KILLS the cold, flu and pneumonia virus. If you drank elderberry tea regularly or ate elderberry jelly on your gluten-free bread. You won't get sick...PERIOD. If you are already sick, by eating or drinking elderberry, you will get better 50% faster than if you didn't. If you don't believe me, go to PubMed. It's... -
ARCHIVED My Vitamins..

" Polyethylene Glycol"? You call that natural? Good lord. You should take Twin Lab. They are made for highly sensitive and allergic people so there's mostly rice base in them. All the ones I asked them about were gluten free. I took the Daily Ones and they changed the formula and now they have citrus in them! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! I take the Allergy... -
ARCHIVED Weight Loss And celiac disease
Mayflowers replied to pita's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
It does now. I'm finding the only protein I can tolerate is.....fish. It's getting old already. I almost gagged on my tuna yesterday. I'm sick of it. I can also eat egg yolks. I'm only intolerant to the whites. Thank goodness for peanut butter! Most beans bother me. Lucky for me I love vegetables. (and sushi) -
ARCHIVED How Do I Lose Weight When I'm Tired Al The Time?
Mayflowers replied to munchkinette's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I think I might have that too. People who are severely obese usually have it, and when they lose the weight, it goes away. -

ARCHIVED "to Biopsy Or Not To Biopsy....now That's A Question!"
Mayflowers replied to a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi Kathy Ann, Hey we do have the same genes! I'm starting to think that I'm intolerant to beans too. Some kinds give me a rash, like skeeter bites. Great Northern, Black beans, pinto. Kidney beans are ok. I eat some chick peas ok. It's really hard to figure out which ones I'm allergic to, but they all make me bloated...yuch..I hate that feeling. I... -
ARCHIVED Test Result (enterolab)
Mayflowers replied to ramsfan1's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
An official diagnosis only gets you turned down for health insurance. Besides, what if they biopsy a part of your intestine that's not damaged? You'll get a false negitive. If you can go gluten free and you feel better, you know then what the problem is. I just noticed another perk yesterday. I can fit into pants I couldn't before. My body was more... -
ARCHIVED "to Biopsy Or Not To Biopsy....now That's A Question!"
Mayflowers replied to a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I had Enterolab too. I won't even bother with a biopsy. These GI's only want to make money doing expensive (dangerous) tests. They don't make money off a stool test. One way which I did and I can see a big difference even if I don't feel totally great. I have food allergies on top of the intolerances, is a before and after picture of your face. I... -
ARCHIVED Test Result (enterolab)
Mayflowers replied to ramsfan1's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I told my boss who is a Pediatrician about the Enterolab test and he was impressed. I don't see why a doctor wouldn't take it seriously, it's an accredited lab run by MD's. I'm having the opposite problem. I'm having a hard time losing weight. I need to lose it. I did however break my ankle in June and I'm just the last 2 -3 weeks walking, with... -

ARCHIVED I Just Made Bob's Red Mill gluten-free Bread
Mayflowers posted a topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I made it this morning. Not bad. Tastes kind of like white. I used egg replacer but the bag called for an egg and egg whites. It doesn't smell great but it tastes ok. It had good texture. Is there anything out there better that doesn't require eggs? -
ARCHIVED Newbie
Mayflowers replied to bmzob's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi Welcome. I'm intolerant to gluten, dairy, soy, eggs, chicken, beef, beans, citrus, tomatoes, peppers, all tropical fruit except pineapple, coconuts, probably all nuts, and air. I haven't done the A.L.C.A.T. test yet but I'm afraid they'll just tell me to stop eating everything and forget about it... So you think you have problems? My gluten... -
ARCHIVED Help! New Celiac Gaining Weight, Depressed!
Mayflowers replied to melie's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Thanks! My cat's name is Storm. As you can see by my list, I don't have much left to eat. I lost 5 pounds and put back on 2 from eating chicken. Before that I started gaining it back from eating all the "gluten free" items.... I get a rash from most beans...I think I can tolerate lentils and kidney beans, and fish. I guess my ancestors ate mostly fish... -

ARCHIVED Help! New Celiac Gaining Weight, Depressed!
Mayflowers replied to melie's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
All those gluten free foods and snacks are full of calories and sugar. I also start gaining weight from nuts, which go down so easy. I was eating corn tortillas yesterday and today and I felt lethargic today. -
ARCHIVED Help! New Celiac Gaining Weight, Depressed!
Mayflowers replied to melie's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I think I've figured it out. My weight went up too. Now since I've checked my diet, I've lost 5 pounds so far. I noticed my weight went up when I ate rice and chicken. I'd eat it and the next day or two my weight would go up a pound. As soon as I remove the food from my diet, my weight would start dropping. I believe the people who are gaining and eating... -

Oats update: I tried McCanns Oatmeal last night. Delicious. I noticed my arthritis in my knee flared up today. I suspect that I'm sensitive to the protein in oats. -
ARCHIVED Got Worse On Wheat-free Diet
Mayflowers replied to KevinG's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My IBS symptoms suddenly appeared after years of being under control when I stopped eating wheat. It went on for about 3 weeks before it stopped. So I agree, I think it was withdrawal. Wheat withdrawals are horrible. I'm glad it's over for the most part. I still miss cake though...when I go into the grocery store and see all the boxes of cake mix and cereal... -
I just read on this board that someone read a study that fish oil capsules are linked to cancer. I take Icelandic Health. They are supposed to be the best. I stopped taking them because I'm worried now about the cancer scare. Anyone know about that? I burp up fish oil if I take them in the morning. If I take them in the afternoon with enough food, I don...

ARCHIVED Thinking Of Mcdougalling
Mayflowers replied to Mayflowers's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
When I read the books and go to the website there are so many testimonials about how great these people feel. I did see some postings on the message board there about hair and skin being very dry and what should they do. It must be individual. Some people need more fat than others. I'm thinking the best I can hope for is semi-vegetarian. Fish, turkey... -
ARCHIVED How About New Jersey?
Mayflowers replied to Mayflowers's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Isn't there a Whole Foods up there by Westfield? I went there one time. Now I go to the one in Princeton. It's pretty close to Wild Oats. I live by Menlo Park. I go to those malls all the time! Yeah! We should get together sometime. I like Outback. -
ARCHIVED Thinking Of Mcdougalling

I was making a joke... I know a lot of ovo-lacto vegetarians who say they are vegetarians and eat fish. I react to some beans. I get a rash from them.
