  1. I feel the difference in only a few weeks, more so since I stopped dairy. I can't get my sons to try the diet or even get tested. Teens... ya gotta love em' That's ok. If we set a good example, they might follow suit. So I'm hoping for that. When they see all the energy I'll have and my much better attitude... They'll be wanting to do it too!...
  2. Mind you I've only been off gluten a few weeks and I think I still get accidently glutenized by marinades, (that don't have gluten listed) and vitamins and even mustard...I'm still learning... I'm also 50 years old. It's never too late to take care of your body! I've noticed the bloating is much less, in my whole body, not just my stomach. Just the...
  3. I miss dairy...and cheese... But, I'm gonna be so thin! I 'd like to also say that I've noticed my dark circles are less dark now! I was impressed when I looked in the mirror!
  4. Funny you should mention that about the Quaker rice cakes. I have indigestion after eating them, hence my feeling that I was thinking I have a rice intolerance. I don't usually get indigestion after eating rice. I LOVE basmati rice even though I don't care for regular rice. I'd hate to have to give that up too.. I'm glad I can still have peanut butter...
  5. Thank you ladies. This really helps. TONS! Yes I have a bread machine.. doesn't everybody? Can you please tell me where to buy Bette Hagman's 4-flour blend and also Pamelas wheat/free blend? I only see EnerG in the stores...horrible. I just sent off my egg, soy, and yeast test so if I'm sensitive to yeast, it's gluten free flat bread for me...
  6. Would you mind telling me where to buy Kinnickinnik bread at? I've never heard of it and I live in NJ. Thanks. It's not available online either. I'm looking for a great sandwich bread for my two teens and/or a bread mix will be good too. Thanks.
  7. I've decided to have my house gluten free. My teens don't want to cooperate. They refuse testing and they said they won't stop eating gluten. Fine. I am however going to make over my house to gluten free and if they want gluten they'll have to go to McDonalds. Does anyone have a better than great bread recipe for sandwiches? The ones I tried from the...
  8. Thanks Nancy. As you can see from my score below.... I am milk intolerant. No butter or cream for me.... I should lose weight pretty fast. I see it coming off in 6 months...(I hope).
  9. THAT's why I believe (along with others) that the stool test is more sensitive and accurate than blood. It makes MUCH more sense because the antibodies that attack the gluten are in the intestines NOT in the blood as much and are more readily found in the stool.. What is with GI's? How stupid are they? I suppose they can sell more drugs for the drug companies...
  10. Thanks much for the suggestions and support! I'm also milk intolerant so I've been craving cheese. I never was an ice cream lover but I like cheese and yogurt.
  11. If your wife is cold all the time sounds like thyroid. That's one of the symptoms of low thyroid. She should get it checked by doctor. Other symptoms are fatigue, hair loss, cold hands and feet, dry skin, dry hair, loss of eyebrows, depression, irrtability. I thought my symptoms were thyroid but it came back negative. A lot of the symptoms are same...
  12. What about that brand that has vegetable chips and sweet potato chips? I'll have to wait (get it? WAIT? HA! HA!HA!HA!) until I lose the weight I need to lose. What about regular Lay's potato chips or is there some cross contamination?
  13. You mean there's hope for me??!! I weigh 180. I was just diagnosed this month.
  14. Thanks OceanGirl. I was wondering why you're telling me to have a colonoscopy. I am due for one but I broke my ankle in June and I figured I have one next year.
  15. So when does this happen? I've been wheat free and gluten free for a month and I still have cravings, daily.
  16. Sorry Gluten Slayer! Corn will fatten up a male or female! Atkins always said corn and rice were the worst to keep from gaining weight.
  17. Ocean Girl, do you remeber how many units you were over "normal range" (gluten sensitivity) from Enterolab? I was 72.
  18. "Gluten Slayer" HA! HA! HA! cute.. I'm medium boned and I look best at 140. I could get down to 137 but every time I tried to get down to 130-135, my weight always crept back up to 140 and basically stayed there. I hate being this heavy. I'm really uncomfortable, but when you get to be 50 weight loss is much more difficult. I'm starting to...
  19. Don't subject yourself to the uneccessary surgical risk of a biopsy when all you need is a stool test by Enterolab. Go to www.enterolab.com and you'll see how MUCH MORE ACCURATE a stool test is than a biopsy OR blood test. Many people on this forum had negative blood work and negative biopsies, and when tested by Enterolab were positive for gluten intolerance...
  20. I think I know the reason for the weight gain. Dr. Schwarzbein is Suzanne Somer's endocrinologist. I have her books The Program, etc. She advocates a low carb eating plan especially for us menopausal ladies who have a harder time with the harmone fluctuations. Dr. Schwarzbein said once you get off the things that cause the body to have ill health...
  21. Hi Thanks for the response. I was wondering...If your daughter was celiac, or intolerant, and you suspected and or the doctor suspected damage. Would just going gluten free heal her intestinal damage (ulcers) without an invasive procedure? Unless of course maybe you were completely in the dark about gluten intolerance at the time and didn't know what...
  22. I finally gave up "trying" to drink wine last month. At first I would get D the next day every time I drank a glass. Then that stopped and I thought it was just the brand. duh. I read that it's good for the heart so I would have a glass a 1-3 times a week for my blood. I have a history of DVT. It was like Russian roulette! Sometims it wouldn't bother...
  23. Hi Mike, If you've been eating wheat for 30 years then it's going to take some time for the body to heal. I read other people had the same symptoms here, tingling in hands and feet. Just make sure you don't have gluten sneaking in somewhere... I just read on the carton of Rice Dream that it contains barley gluten.. I was so annoyed. I had to throw it...
  24. I would seriously SWITCH to another doctor. I would so some research and find one experienced in celiac if I were you. Endoscopy will make a nice buck for your doctor. You know you're a celiac now so just get gluten free and get on with your life. It's curable. No gluten. Ever. Why even go to any more doctors or back to this uninformed GI? KISS...
