ARCHIVED Medicalert
dahams04 replied to vanillazeis's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My boys have them. I like the idea of them wearing them in school. It helps remind the teachers that they cant have gluten. Plus is did help with some family members that thought celiac wasnt harmful. Some how if they saw the braclet they took it as more serious. I'm not sure how long they will wear them.. but for now they will. -
ARCHIVED My 2 Year Old Was Tested Yesterday
dahams04 replied to hammondtam's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Please dont go only by the bloodwork for a 2 year old. My son was 3 when diagnosed and his bloodwork was totally normal, allthough he already had the internal damage. So even if they come back normal, and you think she may still have it go with your gut feeling. Try the diet for a few months and see if there is a change. Just my 2 cents. -
ARCHIVED Ups And Downs With Diet

I'd get the gene test done along with the reg. blood tests for Celiac. But keep in mind that even if they dont have the gene they can still be gluten intolerant ( like my son). After time they will accept the Gluten-free foods better. My son has been Gluten-free for almost a year now and he is much more willing to try all Gluten-free products. Hey if you... -

My boys wear them. They say" Celiac, Gluten Free- NO Wheat, Oat, Barley, Rye" The wording was because of space issues. I mostly have them for school, to remind the teachers.. and other family members took the Celiac more serious once they saw the braclets. I got mine from Stickyjewlery.com There were a bunch of cloth bands to choose from. The claspy... -

ARCHIVED My Son Throws Up Rice Flour, Could This Be Celiac Disease?
dahams04 replied to melf's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
If you are breastfeeding him it could be anything you are eating. Not neccasarily gluten. Try to watch what you are eating and see if it corrosponds with him throwing up. What you eat and drink takes about 3-4 hrs to get to your milk , so gage it by that. Hope you get your answers. just my 2 cents but all 3 of my kiddos started cherrios at about a yr old... -

I thought last we all checked with the Floam reps. they could not confirm if it is Gluten Free. If you search "floam" you'll see the responses. My guys like Moon sand (confirmed Gluten free) and then I bought some Gluten Free playdoh from Discount School Supply website. My boys love it. Hope this helps. As for the companies that state it is manufactured... -

dahams04 replied to Electra's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My son had the biopsy first just before his 3rd B-day. It turned out positive, showing a lot of blunting, but all the bloodwork following was normal. ...That is why I don't trust bloodwork at all. Hope this helps. -

ARCHIVED Need Some Guidance On Finding Cc At School
dahams04 replied to shayesmom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Why are they eating on the floor? Is this a regulation preschool? I'm pretty sure that is a health code violation. For Hunter I decorated a cookie sheet lamanated it w/ clear contact paper and he eats his lunch and snack on that. It helps to be a barrier for other's crumbs. So far its been ok. He also goes twice a week. I would definatly sit on the class... -
ARCHIVED Reliability Of Blood Tests In Toddlers
dahams04 replied to covsooze's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I dont think they are reliable at all! My son (3) was biopsied first w/ positive results then had a blood test and it showed no Celiac! So now I question my other sons blood work. He is showing some syptoms now but his blood work came back normal... I say its not even worth it now! I have no faith in the labs at this point. GL to you though. I can tell you... -

ARCHIVED Blood Work, What Is The Name Of The Genetic Test?
dahams04 posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My other 2 kiddos blood work came in normal, but further investigation my DR ( and I) realized not all the labs were run ( like the IGG!). So since they have to get re stuck I wanted to add the genetic test to see if they had the gene or not. Is this usually included in the panel, or is it an extra? If so what is the test's name? Thanx for your help!!
