  1. I am 28 years old also and have osteoporosis of the spine and osteopenia in other areas. Whatever you do, do not take the Fosamax or other drugs if you plan on having children. A lot of doctors do not realize that those drugs are only tested on post-menopausal women. The best thing is calcium and Vit. D. The good news is is that with diet and vitamins...
  2. I agree that the whole food intolerance thing is so hard! It is hard enough to avoid gluten, but to give up other things is so difficult too. I pretty much cannot tolerate any grains at all so when I crave something substantial, my only choice is potato chips. I have really been craving cereal, so I broke down and ate some gluten free corn flakes. Well...
  3. We don't have a Wild Oats around here, but I do go to Whole Foods. I am not too impressed with our Whole Foods gluten free selection. Everything gluten free is mixed with everything else so you have to really look. I wish they would make a gluten free aisle. They do have some good gluten free choices, but it could be better. They did recently add gluten...
  4. That is good to know. He had some green beans tonight and had some trouble, but I haven't tried other types of beans. He has had a cold lately so I could be overreacting to everything he eats. I am just nervous everytime he has diarrhea. Is it common to be allergic to the bean family? I used to tolerate beans, but not anymore. But I find it funny...
  5. I just started mixing some liquid vitamins with my 20 month old's food in the morning. It is the Vitamin Shoppe brand (1-2 teaspoons per day--I am only giving him 1 tsp.) Anyhow, he has had some diarrhea lately and I am wondering if the vitamins could be causing this? Thanks!
  6. My 20 month old son is now gluten and dairy free. I have been watching for other food allergies and intolerances because of his eczema. I have noticed that when he eats peas, he often has stomach issues and recently is getting diarrhea shortly after eating them. I know peas are related to the peanut family. I have never given him peanut products yet....
  7. www.kinnikinnick.com has some great bread products www.glutensolutions.com has lots of gluten free products. Nature's Path makes some good gluten free frosted corn flakes and other cereals that you can eat with Rice or Almond Milk (if you have trouble with dairy). This helps when you are craving normal cereal! I always have Lara bars on hand because...
  8. So you just put everything into the blender and mix at once? That sounds easy enough! I think I need to get a better blender though.
  9. I am having so much trouble with grains that I am going to try to make some baked goods using nut flours. I saw some almond flour in the store, but it was so expensive. I thought about grinding my own. Would a coffee grinder work? I've heard you can use a blender, but that seems like it would not work as well. Any ideas? Thanks!
  10. That is interesting! I actually have a Vit. D deficiency myself. I will have to look into that. Thanks!
  11. I just tried the LEMON and they are soooooooooooooooooooo good!
  12. I thought I would only need new lids, but I had to buy the cups to get the lids. Anyhow, I am still curious if anyone else has any thoughts before I open and wash everything. I wonder if there is any evidence that gluten can really "live" in scratches of plastic??
  13. My 19 month old son just tested positive for gluten and milk intolerance. He has been off both for almost a week now. He never really had any strong symptoms I would say, but he did have occasional softer bm's, occasional diaper rash and lots of eczema that would come and go. His poop seems normal now, but his eczema is really flaring again. It doesn...
  14. Thanks! I love your quote about the box of chocolates! That should be made into a t-shirt!
  15. I am going to try the SCD diet in combination with the Paleo diet so I need to buy some nut flours to make some bread and muffins. I heard Almond flour is good to use, but where should I buy it? I saw it for over $13 at Whole Foods, but I know there has to be a cheaper option. Eventually I will make my own, but I want to start with the flour. Can anyone...
  16. I am thinking about trying it too. I am going to try a combination of the Paleo and the Specific Carbohydrate diet. I have to avoid dairy, so I cannot follow the SCD diet exactly so I thought I would look into the Paleo diet. There are a lot of great recipes online.
  17. I know there is a lot of debate about food intolerance testing? Do you think it would be helpful to test my 19 month old? Our ped was going to run a food allergy panel (I am assuming the Elisa), but I have not heard too many good things about that test. My son is off of gluten and dairy, but he is still getting eczema flares. I think sometimes they are...
  18. Anyone try the Optimum Resource Lab finger prick food allergy tests? I was just reading their website and it looks interesting. My ped wanted to run a food intolerance panel on my son, but how do you know if the lab will be accurate? I always have to go to Quest and Quest is never that great. I would also like to have some food intolerance testing. I...
  19. The Kinnikinnick cinnamon/sweet buns are really good! They also have doughnuts that are quite tasty. I cannot eat them anymore due to other intolerances, but last time I did, they were great!
  20. I tried to search through the messages because I know this has been discussed, but I couldn't find them. What baby lotions and washes are gluten free? I thought someone had said that Johnson & Johnson products are not gluten free. I read the labels and they seem fine to me, but I am not sure. We use the Johnson and Johnson Baby Wash and I know some...
  21. My 19 month old son just tested positive for gluten intolerance through Enterolab. I gave away all of his gluten foods to friends and replaced everything with gluten free items. I also washed out the cabinets and cleaned his high chair and stroller. I am gluten free also so most of the kitchen is gluten free anyway (except 1 loaf of bread my husband has...
  22. Are the St. Ives lotions gluten free? I use the Vanilla and the Intensive moisture, but never checked for gluten.
  23. Okay, I know this sounds crazy, but is there anyway that plastic nightguards used for teeth grinding could have gluten in the material? I have been feeling glutened for the past 6 months and keep trying to find sources of hidden gluten. I just can't find any. Now of course my problems could be other food intolerances because I have many, but the only thing...
  24. I think he would like the gummy bears if he would try them. He still has texture issues with soft foods. He only likes either pureed or crunchy. Has anyone tried the Vitamin Shoppe children's liquid?
  25. Hi, I just bought some of the Country Life Maxi-Baby liquid vitamins, but they do not have Calcium. Since I have taken my son off dairy, I need a supplement that has Calcium as well. Any suggestions? He won't eat the gummy bear variety so I need either a liquid form or a pill that I can crush up and put into his food. So many say for children 4 and...
