Welcome to the boards, don't forget to take a gluten free B12 everyday, I get Nature Made at Walgreens, sometimes they are on sale 1/2 price. Also do not forget to snack. Sometimes when we go gluten-free we do not get hungry like we used to. So you have to remember to build in those snacks. Fruit with peanut butter or a piece of meat, or nuts is a...

ARCHIVED Looking Like This Is It
gfpaperdoll replied to megdog1992ms's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You might find this article informative Open Original Shared Link And from another board: "Dr. Fasano lists M.S. as an autoimmune disease affected by gluten/too much zonulin/leaky gut. Here's a good article: Open Original Shared Link " I have read many articles on MS & celiac diet, I think it is now being looked at by a lot of people with MS... -
ARCHIVED I Need Help Please!
gfpaperdoll replied to missmommy's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Ginsou, You might try going dairy free also. My sister thought she was dairy free but she was using a "lactose free" additive to her coffee & it still has dairy, casein, she cut that out & had major improvements. & I agree with another post in two months you have probably not been completely gluten free because of slip ups, & cross contamination... -
ARCHIVED Undiagnosed Celiac?
gfpaperdoll replied to junky's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Junky if you test thru Enterolab.com & get the gene test you could find out what genes you have. If you have double DQ1 (runs in my family) that would explain your neuro symptoms, those of us that are double DQ1 are all too familiar with the neuro side effects of eating dairy & gluten & for most of us a variety of other foods. I think if you... -
ARCHIVED My 11 Month Old Daughter's Test Results
gfpaperdoll replied to emmyl21's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If you have a teeny baby then if you go gluten free & the baby gains weight & is up to par on all the milestones that is your diagnosis. (assuming that you have also checked everything possible with the doctors to make sure no obstructions etc etc, but still while doing that it will not hurt you to go Gluten Free) I highly recommend going gluten... -
ARCHIVED Soaps, Shampoo, And Other Personal Care Products
gfpaperdoll replied to radgirl's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Forgot to add about the afore mentioned magazine, (there are two on the market that I know of) I find both magazines worthless with their tripe & I am not renewing. Actually everytime I read someone's mis-informed article it just raises my blood pressure. To anyone that is thinking about subscribing I would say forget it, I found it a waste of money... -
ARCHIVED Glutened By The Smell Of Flour, In The Flour Isle At The Store
gfpaperdoll replied to Rick45's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I once got sick walking by the bakery section, they must have been doing something with the flour as I walked by, I did not realize it until 15 minutes later when my stomach ache started happening. I have been wheat free for mostly 10 years & now totally gluten-free for 3 years so that is a total of 13 years, so some of these other people that it has... -
ARCHIVED Can You Trace Celiac Through Your Family Tree?
gfpaperdoll replied to ItchyMeredith's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Sweden has a high level of celiac spectrum issues as does Ireland & England. & yes, it does show up in family histories. Just thinking of all the babies that died in infancy not to mention miscarriages. For infants as a cause of death you will see things like wasting disease. Our family is full of those problems. My father had a twin sister that... -
ARCHIVED Soaps, Shampoo, And Other Personal Care Products
gfpaperdoll replied to radgirl's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
there seems to be a couple of people on here or the same person that takes it upon themselves to tell others what they are feeling etc. It is my personal opinion that their words will come back to bite them in the fanny !!! I have gotten so sensitive to gluten that I cannot use any shampoo that has gluten or I get sores in my head & I do not have... -
ARCHIVED Undiagnosed Celiac?
gfpaperdoll replied to junky's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
re babies being born with celiac. During World War II they knew that babies were born with celiac & they put them on a diet of rice, bananas & one other thing, some kids ate this for years. The medical doctors thought this was a childrens disease and that you outgrew it. What really happened is the babies died or they lived, the ones that lived... -
ARCHIVED Waiting On Biopsy Result From Possible Incompetent Doctor
gfpaperdoll replied to cindy lou's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Some of us are so sensitive that we cannot live in a "mixed house". If your fiancee is really supportive he will not have any gluten in the house & he will wash his hands upon entering said house & brush teeth. This will get worse once you have children, if you plan to have children, so maybe you two should get this figured out now. I totally think... -
ARCHIVED Undiagnosed Celiac?
gfpaperdoll replied to junky's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Doll, I think that you are doing a dis-service to telling people that it is a myth that you are born with celiac. Can you prove that no child has ever been born with celiac? I think not, if you have read these boards. Do you have children? Were they all born healthy? Well your children might be born healthy because you would not be eating gluten while... -
ARCHIVED Been Gluten Free For 3 Months...no Official Diagnosis Of Celiac
gfpaperdoll replied to a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I personally think that you do not need an official diagnosis. If you live in the United States you cannot deduct the cost of your gluten-free food, only the difference between a gluten-free loaf & a regular loaf & really I do not know anyone that does this, it is just a lot of trouble for not much dollars, plus you would have to itemize & have... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free 2 Months And Burned Out
gfpaperdoll replied to bellabrit7's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have been gluten-free for 3 years, but I have changed my diet so many times due to food allergies that it was really no big deal. I was also mostly wheat free for 10 years before that & oat & barley free for 35 years. But I do understand that it is difficult & agree with everyone else that you have to go cold turkey. If you get the tiniest... -
ARCHIVED Double Dq1s-what's Your Story?
gfpaperdoll replied to oceangirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi I am double DQ1 & my grandson is also & one granddaughter we are the only ones that have done the test thru Enterolab. I do have a sister that has double DQ1. Me: continuous "colic" when I was born, childhood = bone pains, anemic, broke several bones, tired constantly, very bad hayfever stuff, slept a lot, introverted book reader, bad vision... -
ARCHIVED Being Gluten Free
gfpaperdoll replied to radgirl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Some of us that are super sensitive - me, do not eat many processed foods, I am almost grain free except for some rice & corn. I do no eat any packaged gluten-free product - I will get sick everytime. So yes, I am gluten-free because I make everything I eat - from scratch. For instance I take a can of tomato paste & seson to make my ketchup.... -
ARCHIVED Really Worried About My Dad
gfpaperdoll replied to Renth's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
This is just my personal opinion but I think that more & more people are seeing this as true for themselves personally. I think that almost all IBS, Crohns, MS, Colitis etc etc. is just a symptom of celiac. I think that gluten & for the most part wheat is killing more people than anyone can imagine (well except for me, the picture looks perfectly... -
ARCHIVED Gluten, Yeast Or Both
gfpaperdoll replied to jciemb's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Having slighly flattened villi in relation to celiac is like being slightly pregnant. Ya got to love these docs re wine well it could be a bunch of things like nitrates etc. I cannot drink wine either. I have also battled food allergies my whole life. I was 10 years mostly wheat free - thinking an allergy, now gluten-free for 3 years &... -
ARCHIVED Mini Test From A Newbie
gfpaperdoll replied to kalikohl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
yes, a lot of people feel better after a day or two gluten-free. Re Crohns: From my support group: There is a lady vet that worked with another vet that had celiac. She started baking gluten-free birthday cakes so that he & his celiac daughter could eat the cake. She did this for several years, then 5 years ago she went into the gluten-free cake... -
ARCHIVED Just Diagnosed & Work In A Bakery
gfpaperdoll replied to melmak5's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
If you want to be healthy you need to find another job. You will not be gluten-free working in a bakery, period. -
ARCHIVED Celiac Blood Tests Came Back Negative!
gfpaperdoll replied to sneezydiva's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I feel for you. But a negative blood test does not mean you do not have full blown celiac. You can have a negative blood test & total villi atrophy. If I was you I would just test thru Enterolab.com (I need to make a signature for myself with that in it!!) You can get tested for soy, gluten, egg (I think) & dairy all at the same time & you... -
ARCHIVED Nuerological Problems Possible Celiac?
gfpaperdoll replied to JOA Artist's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I am not a lyme expert so will not address that except to say that I have read enough over the last few years to know that you should get tested for it - by a specialist. for the gluten side - I would just test thru Enterolab.com & be done with that part. Stop feeding her any grains - except maybe some rice & no dairy, immediately & then see... -
ARCHIVED Great *not*
gfpaperdoll replied to Kottemamman's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Whem you ask for gluten free you also have to say severe allergy, the restaurants understand allergy. A lot of them have no clue about gluten-free. Also, ALWAYS ask to speak to the manager, most managers know how to take care to get you a gluten-free meal. -
Make a list of the foods that you CAN eat, we sometimes forget some!! My food allergies got better after I was gluten-free for awhile. Yours will probably get better also...
