  1. What wonderful information to know! I've been avoiding wings like the plague, maybe I will try it sometime
  2. I really hope you have found some comfort here. My heart just goes out to you and your husband. All I can think of is that extreme frustration and anger when I was first diagnosed. I would get so discouraged every time I would walk into a grocery or even worse let myself get soooo hungry that I would break into tears because I couldn't find anything to...
  3. That is so cute! My husband feels just awful that he could be the source of contamination that has been going on. He really trys so hard as well as our kids. But just when I think I have a good handle on things and we are all feeling pretty "normal"...BLAMO another thing to look out for. This disease can be so frustrating! Thanks to all who replied,...
  4. I have a pain too, but I'd almost describe it as a burning in my gut. Is this by chance what anyone is talking about. I've mentioned it to my GI doctor with little response and have always wondered what it was. It doesn't happen too frequently anymore thankfully.
  5. Thanks so much for your replies. I have always felt as if I'm getting glutened somehow, although I'm very cautious and my family is extremly supportive. Sometimes my kids are better at picking out questionable things than I am . I also noticed far less regular problems last year when he was stationed in Korea. Hee hee, now I guess when I feel romantic...
  6. Ok I just spent the last 20 minutes giggling at the poo conversation and I think I've finally worked up the nerve to ask some questions about other forms of contamination. I've drawn the line at kids drinking out of my bottle of water/soda etc...but what about other ways my family can contaminate me?! Can I get it from a kiss? Do I need my husband to rinse...
  7. All I can say is I have shuffled my poor husband out of bed on several occasions looking for air freshner. I feel so bad and I think its so gross but all I can do is lay there and laugh and proclaim that its not my fault because I'm sick.
  8. For all of those looking to layer clothes, I highly reccomend Cuddle Duds. I've found them everywhere from department stores to Sams club. They are soft and kind of silky but very thin and best of all warm. They work well under a long sleeve shirt or turtleneck or even dressier clothes and you don't get that "bulked up" look. On super cold days I've even...
  9. So glad you are feeling better and at least you got to enjoy the source of you gluten filled moment. I've had a terrible flare and can't for the life of me figure out from what which is the worst...good luck you you and your villi on a speedy recovery!
  10. Ok so I guess I should have kept reading before I posted . I went round and round with my MD about the issue of depression and what felt like every other health condition under the sun before I was diagnosed with hypo-thyroid. I was dealing with insurmountable issues at the time (my mom was dying, I was working full time, school full time, etc) but I...
  11. Have you ever had your thyroid levels checked? I spent quite some time complaining about the cold Ohio winters and got a hard time from everyone about being a wimp. I didn't know how to explain to anyone just how much it affected me and how I couldn't warm up...it almost hurt me to be out in the cold. This coming from a used-to-be constant snow skier was...
  12. I have always felt that I get that way when things are healing, its almost like my body can suddenly use the food again and is going crazy for the nutrients. I've only ever noticed a famished all the time feeling about a week or two after a bad glutening. I know you may want to drop a few lbs. but I'm a firm believer that your body tells you what it needs...

    ARCHIVED Help!

I am not quite sure what I've gotten into as of late but I"m hoping someone has some insight for me. I've been gluten-free for a year now (with the exception of 6 weeks this summer before my EGD). I have been fine, DH all clear, brain fog lifted, no headaches etc....until 2 days ago. My elbows are a mess, I'm tired and grumpy and I'm walking around on...
  14. I had the EGD done in July of this year. I had already had the dx of DH but my doctor wanted to do a biopsy just to make sure and to take a look at my small intestine. The test itself wasn't horrible, I was so drugged I remember very little of it BUT it was the regular diet that did me in. After 6 weeks I was in horrible shape and I kind of feel like I...
  15. AHHHHH don't cheat!!! I was also among those who wondered why I didn't have a reaction when in a moment of weakness I gobbled up a couple of slices of pizza until this past summer. I was diagnosed with DH in Aug 2005. I never have really had any GI symptoms just the horrific rash. My doctor insisted I have "the scope" done this summer to make sure I had...
