  1. When you stop the dapsone and the DH rares its ugly head how long do you wait before starting back on it? I'm just curious if you wait it out a little while (and trust me I KNOW that is easier said than done) if it will start to clear on its own. Also another point I thought about over the weekend is that my dermatoligist told me peroids of high stress...
  2. Thanks to all who posted. Your advice was very similar to what I've told my sister but she just won't listen to me (after all what do I know about this stuff). The only silver lining here is that she has to go to a special OB since she is high risk due to her first premature delivery and I guess she has already mentioned it to the doctor as things she needs...
  3. OH that was a fabulous post!!! I just can't help but wonder if the reason there are so many undiagnosed celiacs is because the medical community is ignoring a real majority of symptoms. I too am of the 2nd and 3rd variety. I never had GI issues until I went gluten-free and then only with accidental glutening and that is only sometimes. Thank you for taking...
  4. I've had my DH pop up in lots of different places but never on my back or torso. Mine usually appear as red bumps that look like blisters if I haven't scratched them. They also tend to form in a pattern of rings or circles. For instance all around the elbow. I have personally found that benadryl spray helps to calm the intense itching altough my dermatologist...
  5. I am not sure what your exact condition is, and right up front you need to know that I've never taken dapsone. I'm also making the assumption that you are completly gluten free. My DH flares when I get gluten in my diet or on my skin via shampoo, lotions, etc. The timing of which I've never been able to really figure out. For the most part it seems that...
  6. I wouldn't rule out the issue that her father is deployed. We have been through that personally and sometimes it seems for us like there is a delayed reaction before the reality sets in. Its hard with your daughters age because she may not be able to verbalize her feeling about daddy being gone. Also it is a pretty abstract idea that he is so far away...
  7. OH I'm soooo envious of you and now soooo hungry for pizza!
  8. I think its amazing to look back on before I was diagnosed. I never "felt sick". I never had the typical symptoms but once I quit eating gluten I realized just how crappy I really felt. I still have those days from time to time but they are spacing out and I find myself with so much more energy again.
  9. Geesh, why can't someone come up with a diet to fix mean people, the would would be such a better place!
  10. You just can't ask for much more than that! Have a wonderful birthday!
  11. I don't think it matters if you are celiac or gluten intollerant. The results are all the same...a lot of stuff in this world makes you sick because it contains gluten. In my mind it would be like trying to tell a type II diabetic that they are less of a diabetic than a type I diabetic because they developed it later in life! Actually now that I think...
  12. Sandy, well put indeed! More than anything else, I'm sorry that you (or anyone for that matter) has to deal with someone like that. I am also very sorry for her....being that angry and mean spirited is no way to live a life. Don't let her drag you down, besides it will only make her more mad to see you happy and thriving and healthy!
  13. Grrrr, sorry about the tone of this post but what is wrong with the medical community?! Why won't they just do the test? Isn't this why we pay through the nose for insurance. If the MD's would stop being so hard headed and all knowing how many debilitating or terminal diseases could be treated. My mom walked around for years saying she thought she had...
  14. Turtle, What an awesome site you have. I wish I had an ounce of that creativity and skill! Also, I wanted to thank you for your support of our troops. I know first hand how much it means to them and how just a banner with a signature of thanks, a small note, etc can lift their spirits on a bad day or when they are missing their family. The families here...
  15. Is it possible to take your own food and then place it on the dinnerware being used at the table? It seems to me that this would be the easiest of solutions if you will be attending. I know that sometimes dealing with blood relatives of the yours, mine or ours variety can be difficult at best and an invite can often not be something easily opted out of...
  16. Most salon quality products have wheat clearly listed in the ingredients and it is tough to find any that don't have any in them somewhere. Because of my hair type I"m forced to use salon stuff or I look like a mess!! I have found that many (if not all) Aquage products are safe to use. I have DH as well and my scalp goes crazy if I use anything unsafe...
  17. Last week my coworkers were all meeting for dinner at the Mongolian Grill and I figured well I'm stuck but went just to make an apperance. Good news!!! The manager came to the table to ask why I wasn't eating and when I explained that I had an intolerance to gluten he was more than helpful! It seems that they are more than happy to take your food to the...
  18. Carla, thanks so much for the info! When we are in Columbus every other weekend or we love to stop there so the next time I may get those sweet potato chips. I crave their salads and wish there was one a little closer to home here but I'll make due . Its wonderful to know that they are trained so well and very reassuring as well. Yippee for restaurants...

    ARCHIVED Eat Turkey

I have a major concern with this thread. It seems that some people are getting really defensive about scaring new people. However, fact is fact. There isn't a tollerance level with gluten, maybe just a level at which you feel sick. I am really quite new to this board and I have to say with vigor....I have never been scared by this board. It has opened...
  20. Have a most fantastic day today!!!!
  21. I am going to have my boys read this story. Hopefully we are many years away from relationships that include any kind of sexual behavior, but I'm also realistic that at 14 and almost 13 its closer than I choose to believe. Thanks!
  22. Kody, If you are having a hard time getting your fingers to bleed wash them in warm (almost hot) soapy water before you stick your finger. That may help. Also instead of shaking etc, you may want to try squeezing that finger from the top down (almost like milking a cow). HOpe it helps!!!
  23. Wash those hands and keep them away from your mouth. The same goes for pens. Tough habits to break I know. Also make sure if you are handling regular foods, especially flours, that you change your clothes as soon as you get home. It could be a hidden source of CC. For lunch, I usually take leftovers to work. If I don't have any I will take a Pad Thai...

    ARCHIVED Eat Turkey

I only have one question about the safety of eating a stuffed turkey. Just to clarify, because I know sometimes its hard to read the "tone" into a post I'm not trying to offend or doubt anyone...truely just a question. My mom always used to baste her turkey (of course stuffed). So wouldn't the gluten be mixed in with the juices and therefore transferred...
  25. I've never tried it and I don't even know if its gluten-free but what about Gax-X. I feel the same way when I get glutened, its usually the very first symptom and it is just miserable. Oh I hope you feel better for tonight, let us know how it goes.
