  1. The woman that wrote the cookbook and "co-stared" in the DVD, Susan Vess runs the Celiac support group that I go to, its at the whole foods in wheaton Illinois. She is very nice, and extremely knowledgeable.
  2. I went to the Wendy's by my house and talked to the manager about the french fries. She told me that they were cooked seperately, and that the oil was vegetable oil. I decided to have some fries and an hour later I was having cramps, bloating, and D. I thought maybe it was a fluke, so I tried it again a few days later. Same thing. I have read on here that...
  3. Just thought I would add this. I went to Wendy's yesterday and checked first to see if they had a seperate fryer. The woman seemed fairly knowledgeable, like she gets the question a lot. She said "Yes, we have a seperate fryer which cooks only the french frys. We never ever use it for anything other than the frys, and no breaded products go near it." Oh...
  4. No, I wont give up on the store. All of my other experiances there have been great. I go there fairly often as I do most of my shopping there. It was just strange....
  5. She was the manager!! But, yeah, I probably will email the company. Thanks for letting me vent!!!
  6. If you go to the front desk, they give you a book of everything that is gluten free. It can be hard to find, but the book is very helpful. Just letting you know!
  7. Tonight my husband and I were at whole foods and we were looking at the gluten free section. For any of you that have been to the whole foods in Wheaton Illinois, you probably know that most of the gluten free products are scattered through the store, except for the side wall which has an entire gluten free section. Anyways, back to my point. In the GLUTEN...
  8. McDonalds claimed that the fries were gluten free, but then later it was revealed that they were fried in the same fryer as the breaded chicken, so that makes them not gluten free. Im sorry! You can try asking at Wendy's, some have seperate fryers. What state do you live in? Cheeseburger in Paradise has gluten free fries. They are really good and can be ordered...
  9. Doesnt China have some of the smartest healthiest people alive? I thought MSG was mostly in Chinese food. Is it just in America? I searched all my lables tonight and I didnt see anything that said MSG, hydrolyzed soy protein, or yeast extract. What is it usually in?
  10. What kinds of foods is MSG most often found in?
  11. Thanks for all the information guys. I will definitly be looking into it.
  12. I know that MSG can give you headaches and stuff, but is it gluten free? I see a lot of people on here say they dont eat it. Is it bc it is not gluten free, or bc they just cant tolerate it?
  13. Now I can't speak for your son, and I certainly would never advise someone to make thier child sick, but as for my personal feelings, I think I would want to have an official diagnosis. When he is older and cant remember being sick, he may not show any symptoms if he were to cheat on his diet. I think personally I would want to know for sure if I was Celiac...
  14. Wow. Now that is amazing costumer service, but if I was so sensitive that I needed my table saran wrapped, I think I would be too scared to eat anywhere anyways!
  15. That sounds like Celiac's to me. The way my doctor explained the biopsy samples to me was that he would take multiple samples to make sure he got an affected area. If ANY came back positive, then I had Celiac's. The other samples were just taken from area's that werent affected yet. If I didnt have Celiacs, NONE of the samples would come back positive, as...
  16. So tuna in water is not ok? I knew that hydrolized vegetable protien was bad, but I didnt know vegetable broth was bad. Hum... What if it just says Ingretiants Tuna, water. Is that ok? I also didnt know that cool ranch doritos were ok! I know that a lot of thier chips have wheat in them, so I figured that they were all off limits due to cross contamination...
  17. I didnt know frosted flakes were gluten free!
  18. I fostered a pug once named Pheobe Buffet. I know a kid who has to carry an epi -pen because if he barely touches a wheat containing product, he will go into anaphalaxis. Never would have thought that was possible. His dad owns the gluten free restraunt down the street from my house. Its fabulous.
  19. I know that this probably isnt what you are thinking right now, but you are so lucky he was diagnosed so young! If you and him stick with the gluten free diet, and have NO CHEATING, his risks for cancer and other problems wont be any higher than people without celiacs. It is really hard to get the hang of, but soon it will be a lot easier. Just be careful...
  20. Im in Lisle too, and I go to the whole foods meetings in Wheaton. Just wanted to say hi!
  21. I have fallen in love with Enviro Kids (A brand of nature's path) Peanut butter panda puffs cereal. I could eat a box a day!
  22. Thanks! I have been eating frosty's like crazy, but then I went on another site and it said Wendy's removed frosty's from thier gluten free list because it had barely malt in it. Hum.... I think I will try and get some Kinnicknic bread. Thank you so much!!!!
  23. Ok, I have a couple quick questions. Can someone recommend to me a good gluten free bread? Im dying for a grilled cheese sandwich. Lol Second question, does anyone know if Wendy's frosty's are gluten free? I had heard that they were, but then I heard that they have malt in them. Anyone know? Ok, last question, do you know if wishbone and kraft salad...
  24. I call it my "gluten coma." So nope, its not just you! I dont get any intestinal symptoms, just the coma like feeling.
  25. Good luck finding out the problem. It is not only annoying and frustrating, but after a while it really gets depressing trying to figure out what makes you itch. I hope you find out soon!
