  1. Well, I don't know how good the McDougall diet is for you on a long-term basis, but I know that going oil-free for a while is supposedly very good for your heart. I take a capsule of oil everyday though and I seem to be tolerating that okay for now, just so I can get in my EFAs. I definitely know what you mean when you say that you're trying to get a grip...
  2. Thanks for all of the info And congratulations on gradutating! I'm going bike shopping soon...my grandma is getting me a "beach cruiser" bike (or something like that haha) as a graduation gift. That's one of my favorite things about Davis. I don't like driving much, so I think it's fantastic that everything seems like it's walking distance, or...
  3. I'm actually going to school in Davis I'm SO SO excited! Any advice for a gluten free vegan that's a soon-to-be resident of Davis?
  4. I do the same thing with the "Crazving's Place" pancake mix! How funny, I thought I was the only one. LoL. I also thought I was the only one who substituted applesauce for oil in everything...is your diet oil free? Mine is, besides the one small capsule of EFAs that I can tolerate once a day. I also noticed that your name has "veggie" in it...are you...
  5. In Santana Row in San Jose they have a Pluto's and they look pretty celiac and vegan friendly. It looks like I can make a salad (even though I dont know WHAT the heck I'd put on it for dressing lol) and I heard from a friend that you can get a baked potato there and dress it how you please, but on the menu online it doesn't say that (or at least I don't think...
  6. I've been gluten free for 6 months now and im JUST trying to take vitamins again. I'm still pretty sensitive to them, even though they're free of the common food allergies. My doctor says it's not uncommon for people with a lot of GI damage to react to vitamins, because there's so much in there to react to. Does anyone have a solution to this, or has anyone...
  7. So being vegan AND gluten free is going surprisingly well! I actually feel GREAT! Thanks guys The only thing is, I'm having trouble finding recipes that work for me. I've realized that my diet is EXACTLY like the McDougal diet (vegan and fat free), but those recipes are hard to come by. But I just wanted to share the dinner that I made tonight, you...
  8. Okay, so I took that drive down to whole foods and to my surprise, they were already sold out of Ricera yogurt AND to top it all off...it's back-ordered for the whole west coast They didn't know that it was going to be so popular! The nice man that was working the dairy section told me that they aren't back ordered on the east coast, so all of you over...
  9. How ironic! I was JUST going out to buy some in a few minutes! I saw it a few days ago in Whole Foods, but they only had the peach version. I don't care for peach much, and I wasn't sure if it was gluten free, so I went home and looked it up on the computer. I'm going back today in hopes that they'll have the blueberry or strawberry version! It'll be nice...
  10. Wow, thank you so much for your input everyone! SO...I've been vegan for about 3 days now I eat about 2 cups of beans a day, trying to get that protein in...and tons and tons of fruits and veggies, plus some rice porridge, sweet potato, and rice flour pancakes. I'm on a 2500 calorie diet so I'm just hoping that since I'm eating so much, im getting protein...
  11. Thank you so much...ALL OF YOU...for your great responses I'll definitely be checking out those websites that you guys suggested as soon as I finish this post! So thanks Turtle for that vegiac link...I'm really interested to check it out! Hathor, I hope you have a great trip! I wish you lots of luck with your diet while you're away! You know, you...
  12. I'm actually looking for the exact same thing! I'm having a graduation party and want to bake a cake for myself. LoL. I've done it before, I actually used a "Cravings Place" mix. They have a "Create your own Cake" mix that has NOTHING in it...so i'd just google them and you can order a package online. Has anyone else found any other mixes?
  13. I've been gluten-free and casein-free for almost 6 months now and the bloating has gotten *a little* better...but I still get crazzzzy bloated too Isn't it terrible when ya start to look pregnant at the end of the night? LoL....i dont really know what to do either. But I hope you feel better soon!
  14. Oh my goodness Fiddle-Faddle, what an interesting suggestion! I actually have a co-infection of lyme! Gosh I never even thought to make that connection. Did you happen to read that somewhere? I'm glad that you're finding info dagreen And I know how you feel on the restriction to 10 or 11 foods Same thing EVERYDAY, right? It's not very exciting....
  15. I think I was glutened by Alexia's hashbrowns! I drefrosted some frozen hashbrowns (Alexia's) with just water in a clean pan, and I experienced some of the same symptoms that I experience when glutened, 3 hours later. 3 hours is my typical reaction time. Go figure!
  16. wow....i HAVE it. My jaw dropped when I saw the title of your post. I just can't believe that someone else out there has it..let alone even KNOWS about it! I can't find any information on it either....it's like this mysterious condition I guess. It's so frusterating. I actually truly believe that it's food allergy related, but the doctor who diagnosed...
  17. I was put on zelnorm by a doctor who refused to test me for anything. He said that all I had was IBS. I took zelnorm for a year, and it made me even sicker. It was horrible. Finally I switched to a private M.D. who practices alternative medicine and he took me off of zelnorm immediately and started testing me.
  18. I live in northern California! Not going to camp though...LoL.
  19. It's so strange...I react to ALL oils. If anything even has a drop of oil in the ingredients..I react. It's so odd. I'd love to hear if you've experienced more with oil, and I'd love to hear anyone else's perspective on issues with oil...because that's not really a common allergy.
  20. I react to nearly all milk substitutes as well! So you're not alone. Unfortunately though, I can't be of much help to you. I haven't exactly figured it out either. I HAVE figured out though that I react to anything and everything with oil and/or fatty acids in it...so that would be the oil in rice milk and the almonds in almond milk. Are you okay with oils...
  21. I'm so sorry to hear that you had a bad reaction! But at the same time, it's kind of comforting to me to hear that someone else has trouble with oil. I've been really worried lately because I can't tolerate ANYTHING with oil in it, so I'm not getting any fatty acids or omega 3s at all. My diet it completely oil free because when anything just has a touch...
  22. Hey Everyone, I don't know if you remember me, but for a little while I chatted with some of you and posted a bit on some of your boards I guess I was a resident of Rachelville for a while! I've just been thinking of you guys a lot lately and wondering how you've all been doing. I'd love to hear an update from each of you! Especially those doing bio energetics...
  23. Goodness I know! Don't you wish that there could be a chef on the food network that specializes in cooking with food sensitivities? Perhaps that should be a long term goal of mine. Haha. But yes...I am indeed oil-free and it scares me to death. Well, perhaps I shouldn't say "to death". LoL! But it does scare me quite a bit because I'm not getting omega...
