ARCHIVED Getting Frustrated With Daughter!
Juliebove replied to Juliebove's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
She's not allergic to pumpkin, but she doesn't like it. Nor does she like pie. Why is it necessary to have sweets at home? I fail to see that. As for cooking, she doesn't like to do it and gets angry with me if I suggest that she try to cook something or even help. She is no longer interested in cookbooks. And presentation isn't everything. Both... -
ARCHIVED Getting Frustrated With Daughter!

She gets Enjoy Life cookies and chocolate bars. She gets some kinds of candy. Given her allergies, there isn't a lot of that stuff she can eat. Most candy is cross contaminated with peanuts or other nuts. Just because I don't make sweets doesn't mean she doesn't get them. She gets something in her lunch every day. And no, I'm not going to look at... -
ARCHIVED Chicken Noodle Soup
Juliebove replied to Juliebove's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I usually do that. This was really good though. Even better flavor after it soaked up all the broth. -

Mercola? Ha! He has so many lies on his site it isn't funny. Don't know about your other links. They don't look to be what I would consider legit. As in true medical sites. What caused my thyroid problems was soy. I am convinced of it. I used to eat a lot of soy, thinking it was good for me. Then I learned otherwise. I cut it out entirely... -
ARCHIVED I Get Neurotic Every Time I Eat
Juliebove replied to Lovey25's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Chicken scares me. I won't order it unless I know they cook it fresh, from scratch. Most restaurants don't. Salads scare me too. I've found cheese buried in there. Eggs on top. Even croutons that I don't find till I get to the bottom of the bowl. I just hate feeling sick! I don't have celiac, but I do have food allergies. -
Really? That's scary!

I have Fibromyalgia, but it's related to thyroid and not Aspartame. As for cooking with it. Why would I need to? I said I don't eat sweets. I still believe it's safe. Like I said... I know who wrote the articles and she's a liar. -
ARCHIVED Celiac With Gestational Diabetes
Juliebove replied to celiacdutch's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hi! My GD was diagnosed early on. I suspect I was really type 2 then. I was diagnosed with type 2 at about a year after I had the baby. But by the time I was diagnosed, I had complications of diabetes. Such as nerve damage to the feet, legs and stomach. This is why I think I had it for a while. My daughter is 10 now. I started on insulin last... -
Our local PBS station had on their 2009 cooking show featuring dishes from many different local restaurants. They showed one restaurant and in the kitchen was a strange looking cooking device. I couldn't figure it out for the longest time and then they boiled some pasta. Then I saw what it was! What it was, was a large rectangular vat of boiling water...

Maybe. Some might say I use a lot of Aspartame because I drink a lot of diet soda each day. But I don't generally have any other sweeteners than that. -

I've read scary things written about Aspartame too. They're all written by one Betty Martini, aka Nancy Markle or one of her minions. If you look it up on Snopes.com or one of the other myth busting sites, you'll see just how wacky and how much of a liar this woman is. She dredged up the names of deceased Drs. and "quoted" them. Then she made the mistake... -
ARCHIVED No More Nightshades
Juliebove replied to mushroom's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I hear ya. My mom has RA and can't do the nightshades either. She eats a lot of plain pork chops, chicken and brown rice. She doesn't put much in the way of seasonings in her food and she is fine with it. To me, the food is pretty tasteless. I love onions and put them in pretty much everything. I also like making gravy with sweet rice flour. And... -

That's what my mom said. She tried in in cranberry sauce and said it was inedible. From what I've read about it, you need a very small amount. Much less than you'd think. The way I look at it... I don't eat much in the way of sweets to start with. I used to bake a lot and make my own candy. But since the diabetes diagnosis, that all went out the... -

Do a search on stevia and DNA mutation. And I don't know about diabetes boards. I only post to the newsgroups. -

There's no misunderstanding. As a diabetic, Stevia has long been discussed among the community. Some chose to use it. Most do not. -

Juliebove replied to Juliebove's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
That's possible. I just went through this myself. Have been sick since Sept. She had an ear infection and I had a cough, but the Dr. thought both were viruses. She still prescribed antibiotics because whatever it was, wasn't going away. Then she went to the Dr. repeatedly for what we thought was a UTI. Turns out it was not that at all but impacted... -
ARCHIVED Getting Frustrated With Daughter!
Juliebove replied to Juliebove's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I don't generally make desserts. I'm diabetic and I don't consider them necessary. Since we never had them, except for special occasions like holidays and birthdays, she doesn't expect them. As for stevia, I don't believe it is a healthy thing to consume so would never buy it or anything containing it. I do make the occasional apple crisp if I happen... -

I need to find more coconut yogurt. She did like it, but the health food store has been out of it. I did see it at some other store but now I can't remember where. I have done the bacon wrapped hot dogs. She liked them. Husband said he hated them, but again he ate tons. The last few times I have suggested buying hot dogs though, she told me they... -

Although she is only 10, she is adult sized so according to her Drs. needs adult sized doses of meds. I bought her the teen vitamins, thinking they are more in line with what she needs. We do have the gummies. She's not overly thrilled with them. That's why I got the swallowables. I did just buy a huge bottle of something that looked like gumdrops... -

She used to be a very good eater and would eat a lot of things that other kids wouldn't, apparently. Like tuna salad. There is just something recent that is causing her not to want to eat what I fix. I will do the pasta again on Thu. Husband is Italian and would put up with pasta almost every night. I just don't want it that often. We'll see. It... -

I've already told her what we are doing tomorrow and told her I want there to be no issues with it. We are going to Central Market and she can choose her dinner there. They have a few prepared things she can eat. Roasted potatoes, brown, white or wild rice, herbed chicken breast, lamb kebabs, meatloaf, salad bar or one of the Ian's items. There will be... -

She has no mineral deficiencies. She has been tested. The Chiropractor did feel that she was low on B6 though. AFAIK, she doesn't have cravings for junk or carbs. It's all she says she will eat but I've never heard her say she was having a craving. As for the husband, I don't tell him what to do. He's an adult. If he wants to eat himself into his... -
ARCHIVED Getting Frustrated With Daughter!
Juliebove replied to Juliebove's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
That could be too. I have OAS as well as food allergies and extreme food aversions. Other people don't understand the aversions. What I don't understand is how something she always loved, like pot roast and potatoes could suddenly be disgusting. When I have an aversion, I always have it. She hates raw tomatoes in and of themselves. Fine. ... -
ARCHIVED Getting Frustrated With Daughter!

I am a super taster and also have issues with texture. Fresh tomatoes are usually fine for me, but stuff like cooked broccoli or cauliflower is not. My husband is not a picky eater at all. He is very controlling and manipulative. He used to play games with his mom. She would fix him a plate of food and he would say, "I don't want that! I want something...
