  1. I have type 2 diabetes. I used to eat a lot of eggs and cheese. High in protein, will fill you up and low in carbs. But then I learned of my allergies to eggs and cheese. Suddenly a lot of problems cleared up. But what to eat? I was a vegetarian. I tried a vegan diet, then a raw vegan diet. But due to gastroparesis, eating a lot of raw veggies....
  2. I haven't eaten at a Cracker Barrel for many years, but when I did eat there, I always got the side dishes. Many of those were gluten free, such as cottage cheese and applesauce.
  3. The only spice I put in mine is chili powder but I do sometimes add cocoa powder. I also add plenty of chopped peppers and onions.
  4. Deviled eggs, cheese cubes, raw veggies with dip, nachos, Jojos (potatoes cut in big wedges then tossed with olive oil, sprinkled with paprika and baked until tender/crisp), mini hot dogs done in a crockpot with BBQ or similar sauce, chicken nuggets.
  5. That's what we buy. All of the mainstream chocolate candies contain soy. Skittles and Starburst are also safe.
  6. The way I look at it, pizza isn't really a diet friendly food. If I were on a calorie restricted diet, I wouldn't eat it, period. I use the Ener-G rice crusts. The personal size. We don't eat them very often.
  7. Gotta watch the nuts at Costco too. Both the raw and the roasted have such disclaimers. One thing that got me was the peanut oil. Or I should say got my daughter because she has the peanut allergy. When she was diagnosed, the Dr. told me to give her cashews instead. So I blindly bought some Planters cashews. In those days cross contamination never...
  8. One day not too long ago, we had some leftover meat but no side dish. I went to a Teriyaki place and got some plain steamed white rice to go, figuring that would be safe. But guess what they put in the box? Soy sauce in a little container. Never would have thought of that.
  9. I pop popcorn in it. It's delicous! I also use it in all of my baking...not that I do a lot of it. I buy a large jar of the Nutiva at my health food store. There are cheapers oils, but I like the taste of this one. I was told buy the guy at the health food store that I could use a more refined oil for cooking and it would be cheaper, but I just like...

    ARCHIVED Kfc

Such is the case with chicken breasts in most restaurants. We only order chicken if it is made from scratch.
  11. I am not hopeful. I read some reviews on (Company Name Removed - They Spammed This Forum and are Banned) and people are saying it's really sweet too. Like you, I use broth, or sometimes plain rice milk that is not a powder.
  12. Candex worked for me!
  13. I am assuming these are IgG allergies/intolerances? If so, there is much disagreement about them even among naturopaths. I hope you got a copy of your labs. If not, you should. Each allergen should show a number next to it. That number won't mean much to you, but the Dr. should know what it means. Each food has its own number that indicates an allergy...
  14. I've never seen sprinkles with gluten but I have seen sorbet that was made with glucose syrup (from wheat). There is always a chance of cross contamination though. So that could be a factor.
  15. Personally I feel they are safe. Most people can consume them with no ill effects. Exception being sugar alcohols. I feel with those, some people can eat them safely but for many they will have a laxative effect.
  16. Caramel coloring is the one that gets me. Don't know who started that one. Or flour being used to coat shredded cheese. Yuck!
  17. I used to use Namaste mix. Excellent! Also made my own using a Foccacia recipe I have. Also excellent, but... I find I don't like making gluten-free stuff. I don't know why really. I used to like making wheat breads and things. I think the aroma of them baking was lovely or something. I don't know. Baking gluten-free just doesn't give me that satisfaction...
  18. Can you get a mix for French bread? If so, make that. Roll it out like a pizza, let it rise, then spread it with olive oil, a bit of garlic powder and Italian seasoning.
  19. I find that is very sweet and not at all good in savory dishes. Fine for sweets though. I have recently ordered a rice milk powder online but haven't tried it yet.
  20. I make Monkey Munch with cashew/macadamia nut butter or sunflower butter because daughter has a peanut allergy. It's waaaay too sweet for my tastes, but she likes it. Likes it a little too well so I don't make it often.
  21. I don't freeze a lot of stuff any more because there is no room in my freezer. Most days I have a box of Ian's chicken nuggets for lunch. I always keep at least one box of Ian's fish sticks and a kid's meal for my daughter. Husband eats a ton of ice cream and frozen pops so that pretty much takes it all up! I do occasionally cook up some chicken breasts...
  22. I have made this with cubed steak, sliced onions and a sliced potato. I personally found it to be boring but husband and daughter loved it! Not sure how well it would freeze though because potatoes don't necessarily freeze well. I wouldn't complain about them but some people might.
  23. I have not frozen fish that I've made...not that I've made any fish! But I have bought gluten-free fish like for fish and chips and you bake it in the oven.
  24. I get coconut flour at my health store, TruHealth in Bothell, WA or at Swanson's vitamins online. In baking it has to be mixed with other flours. I have seen a mix recently with it already in there. Also in baking it seems to require extra eggs. I have an egg allergy so have never used it in baking. I have used it in meatballs, subbing ground flax seed...
