ARCHIVED Do You Think This Would Work?
Juliebove replied to Juliebove's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I rarely use frozen meat. If I do, I use a minimal amount of it. Next time perhaps I will just use the larger crock. -
ARCHIVED Comments
Juliebove replied to Spartans1960's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Daughter liked one kind only. I believe it was fruit and nut. She spit the others out. My mom tried some and spit them out. The problem I had with them is the slices are very sticky and crumbly. You buy it frozen and must first defrost it to try to get the slices apart. I tried to pry the frozen slices apart and they just wouldn't go. When I defrosted... -

So... It sort of worked, but... I didn't use the 6 qt. crock pot because I was in a hurry and I had the 3 qt. still sitting there ready to go. Perhaps I should have used the bigger one. The 3 qt. was fully to the top, but I did add a bit more chicken. I also used boneless, skinless breasts. I decided to cook it for an hour on high, then turn it... -
ARCHIVED Is Del Monte Ketchup Gluten-free?

The potato chips might have been the culprit. What kind were they? Some brands are notorious for cross contamination. -
ARCHIVED What Did I Do Wrong?
Juliebove replied to Juliebove's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I've never had trouble cooking rice on the stove, and although I know it is fairly quick to cook it that way, when daughter comes in from two back to back dance classes, she wants to eat right away. Which is why I was trying the crock pot meals. The crock pot was really full. I believe I used a 3 qt. I think I might try my 6 qt. tonight for the chicken... -
ARCHIVED Digesting Vegetables... (may Be Gross)
Juliebove replied to coldnight's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I don't have celiac but I do have gastroparesis. That is delayed stomach emptying. I don't digest things very well either. The only meat I can eat is ground beef, chicken and turkey. Sometimes a small amount of bacon or sausage. Occasionally I can do some finely minced roast beef but most of the time it comes back up. Vegetables are tough. I do... -
ARCHIVED Eating Regular Lunch At School?
Juliebove replied to mama2two's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My daughter has additional food allergies so that complicates things. But mainly, wheat is a problem in the foods served at my daughter's school. I've yet to see a day where she could eat all that was on the menu. However they do have a salad bar available daily and fresh fruit. So if really necessary, she could eat that. Wouldn't be a complete or filling... -

Texmati. Should take 20 minutes on the stove. I wound up having to cook it for about another half an hour and we didn't like the end result. I think it was the Worchestershire sauce. It smelled oddly fishy and tasted too sweet. Was very soupy too. I had to serve it in mugs. -
ARCHIVED Is Your Whole Household Gluten Free?
Juliebove replied to TJ060306's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
At first we were. I got rid of all of the gluten in the house. But then husband wanted sandwiches. So I would buy him pre-made sandwiches. And occasionally a pre-made dish like macaroni and cheese. I started buying bread and crackers for myself, keeping them away from daughter's food. She has her own toaster. She has an area just for her food. She... -

Not sure that would go over too well here. Every savory dish I've tried with fruit in it has not been liked. But thanks! -

We can't do soy and we're allergic to almonds. Daughter is allergic to peanuts. -
I made this recipe, adding another bell pepper (but it was a small one). I also added about 2 oz. of extra water. No other changes. Open Original Shared Link Due to the way my day was playing out, I opted to cook it for 3 hours on high. This just worked out well for me time-wise. I don't usually cook on high if I am not at home and I opted to use...

ARCHIVED Garlic Jim's Gluten Free Pizza

Just curious. We've never been there. The one closest to us would be Bothell/Woodinville. Does anyone know if it is a dine in place? Or just delivery/takeout? Thanks! -
ARCHIVED Do You Think This Would Work?
Juliebove replied to Juliebove's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Yeah. That's where I got the "cream of" recipe that didn't go over well. I also tried the brown sugar chicken and we all thought it was disgusting. I tried a few of the other recipes and none went over well. I am thinking her family has different tastes than mine. However I did get the idea of using creamed corn from her. I have been using it in some... -

ARCHIVED Do You Think This Would Work?
Juliebove posted a topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
My daughter loves plain chicken breast and plain rice. And I need to be able to make it in the crock pot. The recipe I've tried in the past came from that blog with a different crock pot recipe each day. It contains a faux "cream" soup which fits our diet since it is dairy free. I really loved the end result. Husband, not so much so. Daughter hated... -
There is no sour cream sub that I know of. I can get rice or coconut yogurt but it's really sweet. I don't think it would work here. Onions are not a nightshade. I think garlic is related to onion.

ARCHIVED Need A Recipe For Cornbread Pie
Juliebove replied to Chrissyb's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I haven't done exactly that because we can't have dairy or eggs. I haven't been able to make a cornbread without them that has been good, but I have bought some that's good and I have made gorditas. I have made an enchilada casserole that is similar to what you describe. I start with some corn tortillas on the bottom of the casserole dish. I overlap... -
Soy lecithin does not contain gluten. Now if soy is a problem for you, that's another matter. Did you use charcoal on the grill? Some charcoal contains gluten. Kingsford is one that used to. As it is manufactured now, it does not. But if you have some old charcoal, it could.

What you are describing with your eyes does indeed sound like an aural migraine. I have had them and they are annoying. You may or may not have a headache with them. What can help? Changes in diet. Eliminate things like red wine, cheese, and chocolate. The ringing in the ears? Nervous energy? Could be your thyroid out of whack. As for the candida...

ARCHIVED Baby's First Foods?
Juliebove replied to brittanydee's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Rice cereal is usually started first, not because of the nutritional value but to get the baby used to eating solid foods and because most people are not allergic to it. Yes, some people are allergic to rice but that's rather rare. My daughter didn't much like rice cereal or any other baby food. What she did like to do was grab food from my plate! And...
