  1. Funny thing my husband saw the mustard or ketsup and asked me where the regular kind was because I wrote in black sharpie gluten /wheat free....I had to laugh because it was the same one we always use. I told him I wrote it on there to make things easier for him instead of asking me if it is gluten-free.
  2. thanks. I am working harder on cross contaimination now. That being said, last night I forgot to tell everyone not to double dip in the butter...now I have to buy new butter.....I figured out if I label food gluten-free then people who are non gluten-free stay away from it...lol..... I'm hoping to take him back to doctor to check out this rash and maybe...
  3. Can you give me some sites where to find gluten-free playdough?
  4. thanks everyone. I think I will donate all the playdough and get some floam..hey I've got Moon Sand, is that gluten-free? And our family dinner each night is gluten free for the entire family (except for rare occassion when I buy french bread to eat with pasta for hubby but I haven't bought any in over 2 weeks). Breakfast & lunch typically is served...
  5. Ok so my 3.5 yr old has been gluten-free for 2.5 weeks with maybe 1 or 2 oops. His blood tests came back inconclusive on the celiac panel, but the GI doc just suggested we challenge him on the gluten-free diet. Anyways should I be so careful as to cross contaimination??? Currently there still is gluten in our home that is prepared near him, although I...
  6. I went to the bakery today and it wasn't that immpressive. It's really an overprice cafe not bakery. Way too expensive....not at all what I thought it was gonna be. I'm hoping this new gluten-free bakery opening in Folsom will have more variety.
  7. Yeah I'm planning on going to check out the Davis bakery tommorrow. I hear there is one opening in Folsom soon too. I didn't think we had a taco del mar here but I'll check out their sites.
  8. Trying to create a list of places to eat.......so far here's what I've got please help me add to it for the Sacramento and surrounding areas Wendy's In & Out Claim Jumpers Scott's seafood PF Changs Macroni Grill (??) Mimi's Cafe La Rosa Blanca Outback Chili's and I was told Jimboys but I'm not sure what is for sure gluten-free on their...
  9. so the pedi wasn't sure if it was a coincedence that he got the rash while on high doses of wheat but was kinda leading toward it being a rash related to gluten...he said it was hard to say...he didn't speifically say it was DH but I am taking/treating as tho it is. All he told us to do is to use zinc on it??? Is this true???? Well I didn't want to say...
  10. yes he's been itching it like crazy. We are going to the pedi in a couple of hours we shall see what he thinks of it. I'll update everyone this evening (west coast time zone here)
  11. Don't worry we have an appoitment today. Anyways here is a picture of a rash that has been on my son for a few weeks now, it doesn't seem to be clearing and for a while there it seemed like it was spreading. I tried to look up online what a dh rash looks like and I see some really horrific pictures. The rash only started when we were giving huge amounts...
  12. yes the playdough was my 1st thought too. I was told they haven't had any playdough out in a while. I think I will request that future playdough be made from rice flour. I know it is really hard to say what happened....they say they watch him closely at meals and are very careful but you never know if a crumb flops over to his stuff....
  13. We removed wheat/gluten on 3/19...he got glutened on 3/24...but today 3/28 after his preschool lunch (corn chips and tostitos cheese con queso provided by me from home) he had ab destention, a huge knot in his bellyand has been complaining my tummy hurts. Do you think it was the cheese/dairy???? Or could it be cross contamination possibly from a crumb from...
  14. thanks everyone, I passed the recipes along.....the yellow cake sounds yummy.
  15. If it's a pizza place that has games and toys chances are it will often be hard to gather all the kids to sit down and eat. Every Chuckecheese party we've been to (pre-celiac) my kids rarely sat to eat the pizza they were too busy playing. Everyone gave great ideas bring your own pizza and cupcake just incase you decide to stay. Janel
  16. we use Jason Nutrasmile orange, cinnamon, mint flavor.....it is gluten free and flouride free www.jason-natural.com
  17. My friend is asking me for a recipe to make a cake for her lil ones 1st b-day. The baby is having severe reactions to a ton of foods....here are some of the one I know she is severely allergic to cake can not have: no wheat, no corn, no peanuts, no peas, no rice, no dairy Any ideas I can pass along to her??? Janel
  18. Yes we did it this past Monday and it was the easiest test we have done, just time consuming. The hardest part for my 3 yr old was to drink the liquid in the 10 minutes he had to drink. Other than that he just had to blow in a baggy thing that had a mouth piece on it first every 15 mins then every 1/2 hr for a total of 3 hours. He didn't seem to have any...
  19. i found this site and thought it may be helpful to you...... Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link
  20. The pulmonary unit at our local hospital is who does the tests for us. Maybe the technology hasn't reached your area and maybe that's why your doc doesn't know???
  21. Any chance your friend could email me before Monday??? Does your friend live in Northern California by any chance?
  22. I will be sure to let you know. Thanks it is reassuring to know we finally have a good doctor!
  23. the one we are doing is a gluten solution, not lactose. We won't be able to go home we have to stay there in the hospital for the entire time....it's done in the Pulmonary unit of hospital. So far there isn't much out there about this test, I guess it is some new technology. Yes the only way to know for sure if you are celiac is through biopsy. Our pedi GI...
  24. toffutti's is what we use. And it has been on a ton of Gluten-free Casein-free lists that I've seen. I'd say if you eat it and don't react to it, you are probably safe to eat it more. It is made of soy and sometimes if you are sensitive to dairy you may also be sensitive to soy. As far as the bread goes. We use the kinnicknick brand, but I'm not sure if...
  25. My son is scheduled to do a Hydrogen Breath test in 1 week. In which he will drink some liquid containing gluten and then his hydrogen level he breaths out will be measured. It's a 3 hour test, inwhich he can not have any food/drink prior to. And the sad part has been we've still had to keep him on gluten so we don't hinder the possible test results. I...
