  1. And you never know in the years to come if they will say that DQ3 gene is also an indicator of celiac because right now they only recognise DQ2 and 8. I do the same thing, tell others my son is celiac. You know the diet is the same either way. Best wishes, it's great to be supported.
  2. I'd say if your 8 yr old has been dx with celiac then all your other children could possibly have the genes too. I would opt for genetic testing and put everyone on the gluten free diet. I say it sounds like your baby is showing signs of celiac, especially with the anemia. Best wishes. As I have learned from others here online and in real life many celiac...
  3. what happens if it takes all day and you still don't have a half cup? Do you keep trying until you do? I am serious my son has severe constipation and often only has streaks or small smears in his diaper days in a row. Would you freeze what you have inbetween and put it all together? How many days are you allowed to collect for????
  4. I checked and it says all their cakes have gluten/wheat, I swear I looked at each individual one they have listed. Doesn't matter for us unless they had a sorbet ice cake, we are non dairy.
  5. maybe try some melatonin. You can find it at the healthfood store in both liquid and pill. 1 mg helps my son relax and fall asleep. You might want to give it a try..here is some info on it, BTW you don't need to be autistic to take it... Open Original Shared Link
  6. ok I'm gonna have my 3 yr old do a stool test for dairy, how much poop is needed for 1 test? He's severely constipated so getting a good stool can take time.
  7. How accurate or reliable are the Casein and Soy sensitivity testing from enterolab? For those who don't like this lab can you suggest another one that will tell me if casein or soy is causing problems for me/family member via a stool test.
  8. I'd like to get some testing done on my 12 yr old dd but I'm not sure which stool test to order? She's had bloodwork from our regular doc's lab and was completely negative. So I wanna know is gluten is an issue for her which one do I order? (Sorry I can't afford to order more than one that's $99 ) Oh I'm gonna order from enterolab, but which one..... ...
  9. great idea. Over the past 2 weeks I had to call one place called dinnersready for a friend who isn't celiac but needs to avoid wheat. This is a place that prepares meals for you and you take home and cook them. We got this as a gift for my friend since she had her baby. The manager was awesome to look up all the "spices" ingredients and help me figure out...
  10. I am loving seeing pictures on this concept. I attempted today to create my own for my son. He wasn't too thrilled with his teddybear shapped waffle...so after the pic I had to cut it up but he really liked the container I used for the syrup. Odd thing my friend gave me that container a year ago when she sent some pnut oil home with me, I had forgotten i...
  11. We might go there later this month and curious if anything there is Gluten-free Casein-free or atleast gluten-free? I read on their site they only allow outside food to babies and special diets. I'm wondering with the special diets do you need a doctors note along with your lunch and snacks? Has anyone gone to this location recently? Six Flags Discovery...
  12. this was just posted on the listserv today the 31st of May: Hi -- The People Magazine article is OUT! It hit shelves today -- it's the one with Lindsay Lohan on the cover. I've already gotten several e-mails from people asking why I didn't mention this, that, or other things. Please know that I had NO control over the final version of this article...
  13. COME JOIN US AND OUR FAMILIES AT OUR FAMILY CAMPFIRE NIGHT (Yes, with a real campfire, marshmallows, sticky fingers, and campy kinds of relaxing fun) Date: June 2nd, 2007 Where: Beals Point State Recreation Area Folsom...
  14. Can I ask what state you are in? Maybe it is different from state to state or county to county. I'm in California. Seriously all was fine until one teacher started to question the nutritional value of the food I sent in. Really it was cereal (I was sending in the Einstein cereal a few days in a row).
  15. our pedi GI said at our last appt (before I did this enterolab test) that he could go back on gluten because he oviously is not allergic or having an issue with it. This was only being on the diet for 4-6 weeks and actually later I found out a cereal he was eatting had oat flour in it so at that point he truely wasn't 100% gluten-free. Since we...
  16. yes we have. neg blood food panel and neg to the skin test for food. We didn't do air born/plants on skin test and i don't care too either, he doesn't show any sinus allergies symtoms.
  17. Yep only the gene test because we already had blood tests with Quest lab(our health insurence lab) and the results are inconclusive or really questionable between our 2 doctors. Only his IgG is + all other negative through our health insur lab. I am just really wondering if there is anyone else out there who has the DQ 3,3 (subtype 7,7). Can someone...
  18. Ok I have read all the information but am still a bit confused on my son's genetic results from enterolab. This means he is not celiac or does this mean this is one of the genes not yet offically recognised celiac. Can I still continue to treat him as tho he is truely celiac? here's what the results are: Gluten Sensitivity Gene Test HLA-DQB1 Molecular...
  19. My child has an IEP due to his disability but here is some online info from a friend of mine who is an advocate in my area Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link and some recent discussion on another message board about 504 and IEP: Difference between a 504 & IEP An IEP is for special ed and related services and is governed...
  20. in the area I live in they kid with any kind of medication or medical condition is required to have a formed filled out and signed by the doctor. My older child has asthma and an inhailer. Now in our area we don't have an afterschool program so I am not sure how that works. I would guess the site supervisor should have had you fill out some kind of paperwork...
  21. Ice pops or otter pops sound like a better choice than icecream, maybe she never thought of that you should mention it. Or real fruit juice pops are even better. Instead of icecream in our house we eat sorbet, yummy(walmart has a good selection and cheap too). Amy's brand makes a gluten/dairy free pizza and it is pretty yummy. Rice Crust Spinach Pizza...
  22. My 3 yr old just went to his 1st party last week since he's been Gluten-free Casein-free. When I rsvp'd I told the mom the situation and I told her I'd provide a slice of pizza and a cupcake/cake that was Gluten-free Casein-free for him. She was concerned that the party place wasn't gonna allow outside food in but we called and they agreed it was completely...
  23. I will keep it in mind, I hope we don't have to go that far since they have already allowed me to provide food up until now that they are trying to go back on our agreement. Currently I am still providing food until June 7th and summer school starts in July. So they have from now till July 2 to contact me to try to change our plan, otherwise the current plan...
  24. that's exactally what I will do and when I have this meeting with the head cook (who I'm sure doesn't actually cook the food she just orders and plans it for all the hundreds of sites in the area) I will say how can you guarentee me that his food will be cooked separately and in it's own brand new containers that haven't been previously used for other food...
  25. In our situation the food piece is not actually on his IEP, but maybe I should get it writen in that way it might be less hassle. It's not the IEP team it is the Headstart program that is the one having an issue. It is very fustrating. I'm hoping this program will continue to let me provide food.
