  1. I know many here use enterolab and then others are skeptical of them. I had the cow's milk protein test done on my son and his results were Fecal anti-casein (cow
  2. my son also has a dairy intollerence so we eat a lot of: taquitos rice home made tortilla (out of rice and potato flours) sometimes used as bread too waffles/pancakes fruit/veggies w /dips pbj or just jelly sandwhich on the enerG bread (I think it is yuk but he likes it) tunafish (I limit this due to mercury- maybe like 2x a month) cereal Gorilla...
  3. I read from this site that Airborne is gluten free but does anyone know if it is dairy/casein free? I haven't taken the stuff since winter and I have a horrible cold so I took it and immediately I am reacting like I do when I get some dairy. Stomach aches, loose bm (not d) and nausia. I tried it a 2nd time 24 hrs later and same reaction. Oh I have the...
  4. We had horrible doctors until just recently and even then I was the one who demanded testing. My son was tested this January (he was 3.5 yrs old but had been showing symtoms for 3 yrs prior to testing). His celiac panel came back normal except for his IgG. IgG was a very high positive which was done through QUEST Lab. At that time the doctor said it was a...
  5. I haven't made any yet from scratch but I have used Kinnickkinnick and it is so yummy...What I do is butter it and put pizza seasonings and then brown in. We then dip it in pasta sauce...also a good alternative to french bread w/ pasta. Otherwise I buy the pre made rice crust w. spinich pizza from Amy's (the gluten and dairy free one). I usually add peperoni...
  6. I wanted to try out my friends vegan recipe and also practice for my son's b-day cake. I didn't have all the supplies I needed to decorate so I made due with what I had. Somewhat how I want the real one to look like. Here is a picture http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1338/605675690_d9454253e9.webp Open Original Shared Link
  7. If a baby is allergic to their moms milk isn't that called PKU? If so she would have already been screened for that in the hospital after birth. Maybe it was the corn. Are you seeing any improvements yet? I'd give it another week and then maybe try the no rice option for 2 weeks to see if that makes a difference. I'm so glad you are getting into the Standford...
  8. I went to a party today where the host is also eatting allergen free...she made an awesome carrot cake First off she got the recipe from vegweb She substituted the regular flour for a rice four blend Rice Flour Blend Mix ahead and use in recipes calling for Rice Flour Blend: 6 cups Rice Flour 2 cups Potato Starch 1 cup Tapioca Flour Oh she...
  9. I think they wouldn't have even noticed or said anything had you not asked to use the microwave. Shoot people bring babies food in without asking.....I personally have not yet had a problem either A) I didn't ask and brought it anyway or Called ahead of time and talked with the manager and they felt sympathic to our situation and said yes to outside food...
  10. my son uses the JASON nutrasmile orange-cinnamint kind. It's at healthfood stores and I've recently seen in my local grocery heath food isle. This one also does not have flouride, I use it too. Also use the search engine on this site, it's very helpful for me to find out stuff quickly.
  11. it could mostly be a dairy or corn intollerence. Maybe have her switch to one of the allergen free formulas to see if that makes a difference....Altaminum (spelling is wrong) the LIQUID is the only one that is also corn free. Good luck.....many doctors just say colic when they have no clue what is really causing the problem.
  12. thanks everyone I'll post pictures when I make it next week. Not sure yet which idea I am gonna use. Maybe the sprinkles idea seems the easiest or just do a yellow fire engine.
  13. I wonder if the spray on stuff from wilton is gluten-free?
  14. that's a great idea using the red sprinkes I might do that instead. And yes another friend mentioned to use the no taste red one too.
  15. but I can never get it red...it only turns pink...I've tried it several occassions. Any tricks to get it RED like a fire engine?
  16. My son wants a red firetruck cake and I already know what cake mix and frosting I'm gonna use but I have no clue how to make my frosting red. Does anyone know what I can do. It must be gluten-free and dairy/casein free as well. thanks.
  17. I think with something like the casserolle you mentioned you would bake it first and freeze it. So when it is ready you thaw and warm to eat. It would deffinately be a more convienant way to pre-cook the food, then freeze it and re-warm when needed. I've only made muffins, pancake, cupcakes and rolls to freeze and take out as needed.
  18. tell me more about this using applesauce instead of oil??? Why and do you use the same amount or less? Like it s recipes calls for 1/4 oil do you use 1/4 applesauce? I only ask because I have a friend whose baby is highly allergic to corn and might be reacting to some other oils as well.
  19. Gosh I had no idea the freezer was the place to keep it....I have no room there, I may have some room in the fridge tho.....but mostly it is on my pantry shelf in ziplock or in vacum bags....I guess I meant do you put the flour in glass, plastic, ziplock, or just a twisty tie on the package???? All my different flours are Bobs Red Mill brand. I don't bake...
  20. Interesting I never would have thought that...I'll have to look on my package and see what it says.
  21. I am pretty sure I would have felt as upset as you were if that happened with my family. Currently two of us are gluten and dairy free my son and me. Most of the time I pass on cake at parties but I make sure I bring a cupcake and sorbet for my son. At one of our parties (my birthday last month) I did make a gluten free/ casein free cake and it was a huge...
  22. he can have a skin prick test that will give you an imediate reaction. They only do part of them and on their back, it isn't that bad really. That would be a good one to know right away if he too is allergic to p'nut or other foods. I would recommend seeing an allergist. I would not recommend doing the food panel blood test through your pedi, I hear those...
  23. We were in the same situatuion a few months ago, however, at that time my sons diet was bread, bread, milk, cheese, crackers oh and did I say bread..... My son's tests came back inconclusive, our family also felt we didn't want him to go through the biopsy when the end result is going gluten free. After going gluten free I started to notice an intollerence to...
  24. gee my header question says it all..... How do you store your gluten-free flour and how long is it good once opened?
  25. If it were me they'd be hearing from my lawyer once I had hired a good one. And actually if she responds to the diet once you start that is proof enough than a 2nd biopsy.
