ARCHIVED Gluten Free Casein Free Cheese?
janelyb replied to Glutenfreefamily's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
we like tofutti cheese (sour cream and cream cheese too tofutti), it is soy and tofu.....I haven't been able to find any other cheeses near me that are casein free. I seen some of the vegan ones but then casein is still listed as an ingredient...how do they get away with calling them vegan.....stay away from veggie cheese it has casein in it. -

janelyb replied to sjust's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
He can join my hubby....no really tell him he will pretty much eat the same ol stuff he normally eats (chicken,steak,pork..etc). I would allow him to have his own shelf in the cabnit with a few gluten foods that he can only have to take to work or when the kids are in bed. My hubby has on his shelf cookies, granola bars and cereal. My hubby basically only... -
Mucus In Stool, Symptom Of Celiac Disease?
janelyb replied to mama2two's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
mama2two, Do you know exactally what the results were of the test. When they say inconclusive that means some of them were negative but one was positive. My son has a world full of severe constipation and it all began at 7 months when baby foods/snacks were introduced. His constipation continued and then adding to it was ab destention, bloating,gas... -

janelyb replied to janelyb's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Oh no, the lowest we've ever gotten was about 5%. For the past year or so he's been following his own curve at a steady 25%. So does he have to reffer you to Standford or the primary? Good luck I hope you get in quickly. -
ARCHIVED Finally The Gi And I Are On The Same Page
janelyb posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
So our last visit to the GI in April she didn't think he was celiac or gluten intollerent for that. She said put him back on gluten. I didn't listen to her and I kept him off gluten and then took out dairy too. Well today we went for our follow up and I told her how great he was doing on the Gluten-free Casein-free diet and how his rash went away, how... -

ARCHIVED Did He Get Glutened At Wendy's?
janelyb replied to janelyb's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
So basically for the past few weeks I've been glutening my own child and not knowing it. No wonder why he keeps getting tummy aches. So after him complaining of tummy ache after Wendy's had me investigate further into fast food trips we've had lately on weekends. I still think he may have gotten glutened from Wendy's due to the handling of the chicken... -

janelyb replied to janelyb's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Oh no, now i feel really bad if I glutened him. He was still complaining of tummy ache all the way up until he fell asleep. Gosh I though for sure the fries were safe (well I hadn't even been to this location but another one guarenteed all of them are dedicated fryers). Guess I'll be calling them tomorrow to find out for sure. ETA: I looked on the site... -

janelyb replied to bjshad's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
The older he gets the harder it will be to switch him gluten-free. There is a ton of research out there that says kids on the spectrum benefit greatly from a gluten/casein free diet. I wouldn't wait to switch him over, I'd do it gradually.....this site gives great advise on how to switch an autistic child on the diet Open Original Shared Link it'scalled... -
ARCHIVED How Long Does It Take?
janelyb replied to a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
With my son as soon as he went dairy free he finally started to feel better. And when I started the diet as well I started to have terrible reactions to dairy and when I took it out I felt better too. So my suggestion would be to remove all sources of dairy/casein. -
ARCHIVED Did He Get Glutened At Wendy's?
janelyb posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Ok so I didn't check but we were out and about today and we went to Wendy's. My son ate some plain chicken and a few fries with ketsup. Now all afternoon he's complaining of a tummy ache. Do you think he got glutened or that dairy might have been there? I had the same exact thing (we shared) and I feel fine(However, I'm not sure if I react to gluten but I... -
ARCHIVED Starting A Gluten Free Diet
janelyb replied to sjust's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
It is hard but do-able. What you kinda have to do is just avoid the loved foods for a bit before you entroduce the sub, that way the child forgets what it use to taste like. The whole house eatting gluten-free is much easier. Ener-G bread to me looks very simular to a regular slice of bread and grilling or toasting it deffinately is more tollerable that... -

ARCHIVED New Here And Need Some Help

Yes we see Davies...and from what I am learning from in real life people whose kids have celiac symtoms but might not always test + is that both McDonald and Davies don't really know much when it comes to celiac. And what I heard from one mom when her son tested + for celiac on genetics and other blood tests he didn't want to write Celiac on the kids chart... -
ARCHIVED Liquid Zantac - Alcohol Content?
janelyb replied to bjshad's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I would suggest a refferal to a neurologist. CP I have learned is kinda a catch all term used for any damage to the brain. The neuro will do an MRI which will tell you if there was any damage. He might even be able to guess when it happened; for us it was very clear that birth trama resulted in my son's cp. My son has mild CP but for him he is mostly affected... -

Sarah, I'm so glad you made it over here! Everyone is giving you great advise, just like I told you they would. Oh no about your personal care products, I'm glad you looked into that. Your chicken broth, maybe it has gluten???? what about your flours are you buying in bulk (because that could be a cc issue). I would buy them all individually packaged...
