  1. sorry to be noisy but I am curious what is the unheard of disorder you mentioned? I have no idea about the dentist, we haven't had our visit yet since going gluten free.
  2. I'd say based on your own personal results especially your genetic tests your kids have atleast 1 celiac gene, so it is possible for them to in the future develop the disease why not start eatting healthier now? And a wise man once told me one often does not test positive on a blood test until the major damage is already being done. I agree the stool tests...
  3. I haven't tried this yet as a pudding but I use it in my amish friendship bread. See my other thread. for Dari-free powder lovers 3/4 c sugar 1/4 c potato starch 1/8 tsp sea salt (reg salt works ok too) 1/2 c dari-Free powder 3/4 to 1 tsp of gelitan or agar powder store in airtight container.
  4. So several friends I know are doing the amish friendship bread but there was no way of knowing if it was gluten/dairy free so I searched the web and started my own. Now everyone I have shared it with just loves it (whether they keep it Gluten-free Casein-free or not it turns out great). I've tested several variations too with different flours and not using...
  5. thanks I have been wanting to try some recipes with my Darifree stuff. I've got all the ingredents now I may just make them tommorrow.
  6. I met Dr Fine this weekend as he was here near where I live doing a lecture on his research on gluten, which was very interesting I might add. He is an awesome guy and doc, I wish he could be our personal family doc/gi. Anyways he mentioned that he is also a musician. He showed us a demo video he has about nutrition for kids, it was so cute. I bought the...
  7. We've tried them all and all flavorings soy,rice,almond,hemp,potato,coconut..etc....my son just would NOT drink them. So we just didn't give them and now months later he tried the Silk chocolate soymilk and is ok with it. I think it is just a taste that is aquired and the old taste has to be forgotten. I can tell you for myself I still can't drink a cup...
  8. from a preschool parent: This last year was a nightmare. We are in a federally funded preschool who must provide meals, they were serving innappropriate stuff like baby rice cereal to my nearly 4 yr old and that is where I drew the line. I demanded to take over suppling the food. We all agreed but then the teacher started to question the nutrutuonal value...
  9. wow that is quite a list. Most of those are in my area and I had no idea they had gluten-free menu besides Wendy's,Outback and Chick fil a. Whoo hoo I excited now I gotta check if any of the food is also cf too.
  10. I'm not pregnant yet but hopefully will be soon. The only thing that seems to really help me is taking digestive enzymes. Are these safe to take in pregnancy? On the bottle ofcorse it says consult a doctor but I wanted to ask here first since most medical docs would probably not recommend digestive enzymes even to a non preg person.
  11. Did you get the results yet from the lab?
  12. I know the gold old lunch boxes, now they are vintage and probably pretty pricey on ebay. Try thrift shops or garage sells. I wish I still had mine from childhood, however, I don't think my son would be into Miss Piggy or Strawberry shortcake...lol....
  13. we got a medical alert bracelet as well and my son refuses to wear them on his arm so I cut the chain off and placed it on a small key chain and attached it to his shoe. It works perfect. This also got me thinking and I was playing around with powerpoint today and made a few Gluten-free Casein-free logos to print out as he gets older to laminate and attach...
  14. My son and I are now getting use to bringing our own food to parties. We were at a 4yr b-day party and when it came time for pizza the party planner lady had put regular pizza on all the plates around the table...I mentioned ummm I'm gonna need a clean plate and this plate can go to someone else. The party planner gal came over immediately and asked oh what...
  15. for my family the only safe places for fries are Wendy's and in 'n' out, but we are also casein free as well and both react immediately when cc with dairy.
  16. if you want to get some really creative decorating ideas check out this mom's flickr site...and then search flickr for bento and you see a ton of cool stuff. Open Original Shared Link I haven't been very creative yet but then again my son is only 4 and mostly eats at home.
  17. thanks Debbie. I've read up on some of the enzymestuff website. I just can't bring myself to spend $30 for enzymes that one will need to take several times a day. I definately need an inexpensive option if I am gonna do this. Why are the inexpensive ones not recommended if they have the same ingredents as the other ones? The one I got form Trader Joes...
  18. I am having horrid reactions to cc and I am not sure if it is both dairy and gluten or just dairy....but I think I am gonna start enzymes. I considered them a year ago for my son and I am considering them again. Does anyone know some good kid friendly brands or what to look for in an enzyme? I've got one from Trader Joes (in purple bottle) my friend recommended...
  19. I also have a sensory kid who often lived on crunchy foods like crackers & chesse for a couple of years. I swear since he has gone gluten free he has opened the doors to exploring new food and new textures. Before he went gluten free he would hardly ever eat pasta or chicken, now just a couples months he lives off those...and recently he has accepted...
  20. My son has taken to sorbet....I like it too you might wanna try it...it's mainly fruit and ice depending on the brand (might have some corn syrup in it??). No soy, no dairy and no gluten in it.
  21. In my humble opinion, if he has the gene that means he could one day develop celiac so why not just go ahead and put him of the gluten-free deit now. And if he is already showing the early signs of celiac it is possible the damage might already be happening but just not bad yet...just imagine where it could be 5 yrs from now.... So I would use that test...
  22. Really my son's tummy didn't stop hurting until about 2 months into the diet and I noticed the most improvements since dairy has been removed as well. It does take time, I actually went into the diet thinking don't be suprised if you see little improvements the 1st 6 months......some people take longer than 6 months. Like you said everyone is different. Make...
  23. my son is older but when he was younger we used simethicone drops (Mylacon is the brand name I believe).....I believe they are gluten free but you will have to verify that with the manufactor. Otherwise I would probably do some searching for homepathic/natural methods to help.
  24. well if she just started to eat gluten and is having somewhat celiac symtoms that she didn't have before...it doesn't take long to put the two together and think she has celiac. Since you have 1 son confirmed and Dad has a gene I would do gene testing on the entire family. That would tell you right there who is predisposed and who isn't. Janel
