  1. Patti, The scratches are from cutting but they are pretty bad. You can see them without having to hold the dish up to the light, but that might be because the dishes don't have a shiny glaze on them. I really don't want to have to replace dishes right now. It's not in my budget at the moment. I guess I am just having an obsessive gluten moment. Sometimes...
  2. I'm going to try to make them this week. I'll let you know how they turn out.
  3. If they didn't have the scratches I wouldn't be concerned even with my husband eating gluten foods on them. But the scratches really do worry me. Now I can't get it out of my mind. I think it might be time for some new dishes. The ones I have were cheap anyway - an Ikea starter kit we had got when we first got married. Thanks again for everyone's help...
  4. These cookies sound incredible. Would they still work if I didn't add the Xanthan gum? I use the Gluten Free Pantry's All Purpose Baking Flour which contains white rice flour, potato starch, tapioca starch, guar gum, salt.
  5. Thanks for all your replies. I've been putting them through the dishwasher and didn't think they would be a problem, but then I started to worry because the scratches go through the glaze. I wasn't sure if the dishwasher would get them clean enough if gluten got trapped in the scratches.
  6. I have ceramic dinnerware that I had prior to going gluten free. They do have some minor scratches in them. Do I need to replace them? Could gluten be trapped in there? My husband has mostly gone gluten free with me, but occasionally he still does eat gluten foods. Should I be worried about using these dishes? What would you do?
  7. Does anyone know if the candy listed on there is the Halloween size candy (the stuff in the big mix bags) or is it regular size bars? I know that sometimes the smaller or different shaped candies can have gluten even if the regular size doesn't. So I wasn't sure what they were referring to. I didn't want to assume that it was the smaller size that we give...
  8. I am so sorry. How are you doing?

    ARCHIVED Good News

That's wonderful news, Ali! I'm so glad you found each other.
  10. Good point. Will try to take it down. I also thought it would be good for everyone to know that all of your info. is out there. You should make a habit of googling your name and any nicknames you use to see if anything is being posted.
  11. I almost didn't want to post the above, but I felt that if someone could figure it out I would want them to tell me.
  12. It wasn't me who called, but I think I know how the person found you. I will email you what I found via Google. I HAVE EDITED THIS POST.
  13. That sounds really good. Thanks for posting it!

    ARCHIVED No More D

Have you tried adding a B12 vitamin to your diet? Before being diagnosed gluten sensitive I was told I had IBS with constipation. B12 seems to really help with it. I found the following in a Google search: Signs, symptoms, and health problems associated with vitamin B12 deficiency: Characteristic signs, symptoms, and health problems associated with vitamin...
  15. Hi Jenn, The Whole Foods by me has booklets hung up around the store that have coupons in them. I think they also take manufacturer coupons. And, I don't know if they do this anymore, but they used to give you money back for every plastic bag you brought in from home (saving them from using a new one). It's not a lot of money but every bit counts. As...
  16. I'm going with Willy Wonka candy since everything but the Wonka bar is gluten free. (Ok - I happen to really like Wonka candy too. I'm hoping for leftovers.)
  17. Amanda, Thank you so much for posting that. It made my day. I looooove Starbursts! Beth
  18. Thanks Colleen! I'll be on the lookout for it.
  19. Nars is gluten free but I don't know about wax free. You might want to give them a call. I looked on their site and couldn't find an ingredients list.
  20. That's what I plan on doing - only gluten free candy this year.
  21. I use Gold Bond Ultimate Healing Lotion (Aloe). You can get in any drugstore and it comes in a big pump bottle, a squeeze tube and a small travel size tube. My hands get really irritated from being in water - itchy, red and painful. This works instantly at making them feel better.
  22. Just talked to Whole Foods (Jericho, NY) and they confirmed that Gluten Free Pantry is indeed making those products for them. I wonder why they changed some of the ingredients then. You would think they would just repackage in the Whole Foods packaging. That's what made me think they weren't the same.
  23. I'm going to email them to find out. I've looked at both websites and no one mentions it. I'll post the reply when it comes.
  24. October is Celiac Awareness Month.
  25. Is there a new ROCK candy list for 2007? I can only find a 2006 list.
