  2. Thought i'd share with you a new place to get gluten free cheesecake. I haven't been myself but there website advertises gluten free, sugar free desserts. The cafe is in yorkville, toronto. It is called Carole's Cheesecake Cafe on Cumber land. I wrote to them to ask if their cakes are in the same display as the gluten cakes but they havent' wrote back. And...
  3. Thank you for your advice. What you said makes alot of sense.. I will attempt to wean him off the bottle and encourage more breast feeding.
  4. My supply is low and he is a big boy with a big appetite. He was drinking 4 oz by the second week. Secondly, know that he has learned the bottle it is difficult to exclusively give him breast milk. He is very fussy on the breast. i top him up with formula after i breast feed. He basically drinks 4-5 oz of formula every 2 hours and he is one month old. When...

  6. The thing is if he is not celiac then life would be easier for him. If you never introduced it, would he develop an allergy to it? Wheat allergies are just as tricky as gluten intolerance. Thats why i want to know when you introduce gluten so that he develops immunity (allergy wise) because he may not be gluten intolerant like his mom. The thing is my home...
  7. They have decided to suppliment with b12 drops while i am breast feeding him because his stores may run out sooner than other babies. Everything is going well.
  8. Thanks! i read that you should introduce gluten between 4-6 months? how did you decide to wait one year before introducing gluten? all babies are born with stores of b12 and iron from being in the tummy for nine months that should last nine months. However because my levels were fluctuating of iron and b12 when i was pregnant his stores may not last 9 months...
  9. Just had my little boy. Wondering if there's any advice you can give a celiac mom. Im trying to breast feed along with the formula ( Similac). They've decided to keep monitoring him and later on give him iron and b 12 drops. For now he seems to being doing well. Ive been told not to introduce wheat until 4-6 months. Anyone have any other tid bits i should...
  10. I recently heard that if you are often b12 deficient it is not wise to breast feed because the fluctuating levels are damaging to the baby. Does anyone know if this is true?????
  11. Apparently they are all gluten free except the one with rice krispies in it. I don't know the particular name of that truffle? Here is their website: www.danielchocolates.com For some reason their toronto location is not on the website but there is one on Dundas St in the west end.
  12. This sounds reasonable. Anna
  13. I use bobbi brown lipsticks. I have about 6 lipsticks/glosses from there which i enquired individually about. Ask them to email you thier gluten-free list. It's expensive makeup but i keep my make up box pretty simple.
  14. Oh i didn't know about the keg. Do you have a menu? What do you order? It's been a while since i had a good steak.
  15. Follow up response: Hello Anna, You are correct, we will simply remove the French Fries from the Gluten free menu choices. It is really not worth the trouble, we have a miniscule number of people asking for Gluten Free menu items and most have probably long since given up on French Fries because they anticipate cross-contamination in deep fat fryers...
  16. I had a child on gluten-free diet in my class, being a celiac myself i always watched out for him. I must wash my hands a hundred times a day. I always have to open their snacks and touch things like play dough and pasta for arts and crafts. It is around us all day long. This little boy was excellent. His parents really taught him not to share food, and to...
  17. Oh I see. Hmm... Imagining myself in the teacher's position, how would i get to the cafeteria to heat up this child's food, since there is noone else to supervise the children while i am doing this. My kids eat lunch in the classroom with a lunch supervisor. I go for lunch during the same period. I guess you could ask the lunch supervisor to come a few minutes...
  18. I have been told that now that im a celiac i need to reduce my corn intake because so many of our gluten-free products contain corn and that many celiacs develop a corn allergy because it makes up soooo much of our diet. Rice is one of the least allergenic foods, so try to stick to rice products. But a corn allergy is different than a corn intolerance......
  19. I am a k teacher myself. In canada we don't provide hot lunches, all kids bring their own lunch in their lunch boxes. So i have not encountered this request. We don't have a refrigerator or microwave in the classroom so we don't provide this as an option to our students. It would be very time consuming for 1 teacher to do this for all 25 students even if...
  20. I don't plan on going to Kelseys after this but i did feel it necessary to write to them and let them know that if this is the case with their fried items then they need to remove it from their menu. A little pressure from all of us can make change. Looking forward to that menu from Tony's when you get your hands on it. I appreciate your response. Since...
  21. Re: Tony Roma's It's been 2 years since i ate there, but you used to be able to get it online. I have eaten at Tony Roma's with this menu at various locations and didn't have a problem. I also went to Tony Roma's in Vegas and aruba and ate there as well. Im surprised its not online anymore.
  22. Has anyone tried Daniel's Chocolate. They used to be called Bernard Callebaut. Theyre head office is in Vancouver but they have several locations. The store in toronto assured me they are gluten free. I wrote to them and i am still awaiting a response? Any experience with this store?
  23. Here is the response i got from Kelseys today (mond 20th) Thank you for your interest in Kelsey
  24. I happened to write to the 2 locations i know of. They didn't answer me if the fries are gluten free but did respond with this answer Thornhill:Our fries are coated. Fries sometimes do get fried in the same fryer as onion rings and chicken fingers. Etobicoke: The fries are made with a onion powder. The fries and onion rings have a Dedicated fryer...
