  1. Y'know, I made this mistake myself with a baby of my friend's. He was so sweet and cuddly and smelled so good, and I just, out of habit, kissed him on the cheek, and then realized what I'd done, and ran to the bathroom and washed my mouth off. If it gets on your lips, it can get in your mouth, and I guarantee you that baby was COVERED in gluten. I've actually...
  2. It's been my experience that the people who behave disrespectfully about something as simple as food are generally completely disrespectful, period. I think of it as an American epidemic. My only advice would be to simply ignore the naysayers and change the topic whenever possible. In a few months when you look totally great and feel totally great, and...
  3. Gally, if it helps at all, it took me about six months to figure out that peanuts give me SEVERE diarrhea. It never occurred to me at the time that peanuts could be my problem because you always hear about anaphylaxis, not diarrhea. Once I stopped eating peanuts I stopped having those unexplained 'emergencies' all the time. Yay! Fortunately, Sunbutter tastes...
  4. Y'know, my vision is already so poor that I operate quite blind without glasses anyway, so I'd DEFINITELY go for #2. I can literally cook blind, simple stuff anyway. Red lights forever and ever? No thanks!
  5. Keep this in mind- if he eats a sandwich, goes potty, and you two go foolin around later, the gluten proteins will still be on his skin. This is a problem with men that they don't often think of, especially if you've already checked your soaps and shampoos for gluten, they figure they're clean. They think they're clean but they've had their hands all over...
  6. I'd say nut flakes and rice cereal would lend a good texture when mixed. How's about you give us the recipe?
  7. Try eating a raw clove of garlic. THAT'LL clear your nose out. If you're coughing, honey tea, if you're brave, you can always try a neti pot for your nose. I find it works wonders but a lot of people think it's gross.
  8. Tomorrow I'm gonna try making chocolate cake in the crockpot. Does that count?
  9. I'm just having an identity crisis, that's why I haven't been around. I guess I feel like I never accomplish anything important and I have no idea what I want to do with my life. Isn't this supposed to happen to middleaged men?
  10. Agave nectar definitely has some sugar in it, it's just supposed to process 'slower'. I guess if stevia works, stick with it, right? If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
  11. It really depends on the recipe. Pattie's recipe would probably be very forgiving, not all are. Emmel, how do you do with agave?
  12. I'm just thinking that honey and agave are much lower on the glycemic index than sugar. I've been trying to bake with only honey, agave, and maple syrup.
  13. Oh, and don't you think they would be good with 1/4 cup honey, 1/8 cup agave? Mmmmmm.... Even moister. I find honey and flax bake very well together.
  14. DEAR LORD PATTEEE!!!!! Have you even left the bathroom yet?!?! I'd be flat out dead if I ate two of those.
  15. When I just can't think of anything or I find myself with no leftovers (rare) I make tomato mozzarella salad. If you get quality tomatoes and mozz this is a VERY satisfying meal. I also roll up slices of deli meat and put in a lock & lock a dip in mustard for lunch. Otherwise I mostly do leftovers or chicken salad or cheese and crackers or something.
  16. Really? Maybe those would be the best for a snickerdoodle then, allowing the spices to provide most of the flavor like a proper snickerdoodle. Great, now I have to try that!
  17. Sure, you can use almond butter, sunbutter, cashew butter, any kind I'm sure. I think the almond butter would come out tasting a lot like a snickerdoodle.
  18. If you have a careless roomie, try hiding your stuff. Either tape it shut and keep it buried hidden inside a bag in the freezer, or keep it in your bedroom and use it up fairly quickly.
  19. That thing is seriously creepy. I think we should plop it down in the middle of Stonehenge, he'd be like an equally-creepy creepy dude guardian!
  20. Make 'im practice with you in front of everyone as payment!
  21. Thanks everybody!! Lisa, yer little penguin ALWAYS makes me feel better no matter what's wrong. So thank you for that.
  22. Yes, that happens to me. I never work out within four hours of bedtime. When I actually work out....
  23. Y'know, I've been stressing about money without a job and I realized that it's not like I've been making that much AT my job, they've cut my hours so much it's half a normal paycheck, so I might as well relax now that I'll probably be on unemployment. I'm hoping to go work at Whole Foods. I love it there. I already started applications the other day, the...
