  1. Pamela's is a completely gluten-free facility, they don't have anything with gluten in the plant. I have to think that if some were somehow getting in, that would be a very serious thing, for the company.
  2. So does anybody read Nora Roberts? Dean Koontz? Lee Child? Tess Gerritsen? Someone who's vampires don't SPARKLE?!?!?!? :D
  3. For future reference- Dagoba and Endangered Species are all gluten free, as far as I know. I've never seen a bar that didn't say gluten-free on it.
  4. Actually, that's precisely why we enjoy grass fed beef and bison. I'd eat elk and deer and wild fish all the time if I could get it. I guess I'm just one of those people.... And my boyfriend, the bottomless pit, couldn't possibly be fed on less than $100 a week unless all I bought was ramen. You, my friend, are magical.
  5. Actually, I watched an episode of Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe, and he was making the wooden barrels they make wine in. They DO put a caulking in the rim that has wheat in the paste. At least that manufacturer does. Sorry, don't remember the name. I guess you just have to pick a wine brand you like and ask them how their barrels are made. Sucks, huh? Woodchuck...
  6. I have two problems with this article. The first and foremost being, they do not discuss the correlation between the rise of disease associated with milk consumption, and the pasteurization of milk and milk products. I'd suggest a bit of study on the pros and cons of pasteurization. My second problem is that the article reads like it was composed in another...
  7. My father's mother isn't whacky, she's just evil. Plain, abusive, evil. I have no memories of her because he cut her off when I was a baby still. The extroardinary amount of work he had to do not to become just like her was simply astounding. Somehow, I broke the cycle and don't have an abusive bone in my body. But that probably has a lot to do with the fact...
  8. Well, my boyfrind's family still doesn't get it. I think it's just a politeness thing though, I have not once ever eaten anything they've prepared, I walways bring my own food. But they still try to tell me how they have ham that's not glazed, can you have that? The green bean casserole has a tablespoon of flour, is that ok? Oy. No, I'm eating the lovely...
  9. HI everybody! It's almost 80 here and sunny. I'm super happy today. I think maybe I was kinda depressed about losing my job but I'm picking back up now. Either that or my boyfriend got sick of me and started putting happy pills in my tea. Either way, I made shredded barbecue beef in the crockpot last night. With homemade ranch dressing coleslaw. And today...
  10. Do you have anyone in your life who's a capable masseuse? I personally excel at it, though I haven't been to school, and I've helped a half dozen people find relief for their headaches. My boyfriend gets migraines, and I can't completely relieve them, but I can usually keep the pain down two points on the pain scale. You know, if it would've been a six I...
  11. You say this illness is striking once every month or so. Can I ask if it' always the same time in relation to your cycle? Hormones have been known to cause nausea! It may be that.
  12. That's easy. Port-A-Potty City, PA!
  13. I stick to Dagoba and Endangered species for chocolate bars, and Enjoy Life for chocolate chips. Enjoy Life chips have amazing flavor. They also make a shell quite nicely, when covering something like strawberries or pretzels.
  14. I have found that Bob's Red Mill pizza crust mix makes AMAZING bread rolls. They stay soft for days and even handle refrigeration fairly well. I make the dough according to directions, and it's pretty easy to form by hand, as long as your hands are wet. I'm going to do hot dog rolls with it soon, thanks for reminding me!
  15. HAHAHAHAHAAA!!!! No, it's just a website where you can get lots of different brands, buy in bulk, get discounts, and your stuff is always shipped very anonymously, so your box doesn't have a a big red CONDOMS on the side.
  16. If you were a Guinness drinker, don't bother. Ain't nothin like it out there. Stick to cider. I sincerely hope that they make a decent beer soon!
  17. Conversely, if we've never seen it discussed by any of the professionals, there's no evidence that sex accessories DON'T constitute a threat. How many people have had mystery glutenings? Maybe it's just safer to ask. I am not 'most people' and I was not 'reverting' to this sort of discussion, I was joining one that had been started by you-all. Back on...
  18. Yeah, you're lookin pretty chunky in that picture there, you better lay off the cheese.....
  19. And Haagen Dazs.
  20. I know! I saw the 'gluten-free' menu at Olive Garden? Yeah, like I'd ever eat a piece of LETTUCE there. The restaurant at the hotel I used to work at would keep their salad greens in a huge bin of water (keeps the greens fresh) but they wouldn't cover it, they just left it on a shelf in the cooler, where stuff could (and did) fall in all the time. I have...
  21. PS- Self adhesive anything is fine, since you don't have to lick it! Just having it in the house isn't any kind of threat. When I have to get an envelope wet to stick it, I just drip a few drops of water on it and spread it around. No biggie. I paranoically wash my hands before I touch anything in my kitchen anyway.
  22. Two things: when making pizza crust, I take plastic wrap, spray it with olive oil cooking spray, put it over the crust and use my hands to spread it out. It doesn't stick at all. When I'm using a pizza stone, I put the plastic wrap on the bottom and the top and then flip it on the stone, which takes practice! And does King Arthur Flour have a dedicated...
  23. Tehana- I myself am a self-diagnosed Celiac. I was unable to afford the testing required for an official diagnosis. But honestly, it's never come up in conversation whether I was officially diagnosed or not. I just don't bring it up, I behave as though it's a foregone conclusion that people will accept my food issues, and they do. I happen to not care whether...
  24. People say that about me all the time! That I look cute and sweet, and then they find out looks are deceiving. And I'll fight you for chocolate, too.
