Hathor I have tried the buffalo yogurt and Mozzerella. I had a little difficulty with them. I also have a cholesterol problem and in some of the yogurt there are 6 grams of saturated fat because they use the whole milk. I may try it again. I did like the Mozzerella. I have tried goat yogurt and that seems to be ok. I cannot touch dairy at...

Cody, I agree with Tom go dairy free. I have been since 2005. I am very sensitive to it. It sends me to the pot too many times in a day. You also have to watch for the fake cheeses as these contain some milk ingredients. Susan

ARCHIVED Yeast Issues?
Piccolo replied to BensMom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I don't know if this will help but I showed a sensitivity to yeast in a blood test. The result I am gluten and yeast free. There is only one type of bread I can buy and it is from Ener-g. It is their yeast free brown or white rice bread. I agree with elimanating sugar. Susan -
Moondanse My Dr. just ran a panel from Prometheus lab. I got a letter if insurance does't cover I'm responsible for the $799.00 tab for the test. Mine came out negative as I have been gluten free for 1 year. I did not have the genetic markers either. My PCP ran all of the tests I requested with pleasure because I am advocating for myself. Yes the...

ARCHIVED Enterolabs And Elisa Results - How To Proceed?
Piccolo replied to Dianne W.'s topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Dianne, I have found if I eat eggs I have problems. If they are in something bread, cake etc I tolerate them better. I'll say I have less problems if they are baked in something. When I did some baking for myself I used the duck eggs and had no problems. Susan -
Donna, You might need to go to both an internest and a gastro. I just recently saw my internest and he noted all of my GI problems and sent me to a GI doctor. I have that appointment on Friday. I am lucky to have an interenst who listens. I went in with a list of tests to be done (gotten from this site) and he is running them all. To help with...

Piccolo replied to Dianne W.'s topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Dianne, I also have an egg sensitivity. To be specific egg white. If I eat an egg I can tell I ate it. When I had my blood test done they sent the results back in a book with suggested alternatives. It says I can eat egg yolks or duck eggs. I can eat duck eggs fine. I had a hard time finding them and they cost $6.00 per dozen. Hope that helps ... -
Isiskingdom, I buy Earth Balance in the grocery store. It is also availble in a natural grocery such as Whole Foods etc. It should do fine in cooking. I still use oils to do that. Susan

I have been dairy free since October 05. Like suggested I eat Earth Balance. I have just tried goat and buffalo yogurt and I tolerate these very well. I just got a goat cheese that is similar to cream cheese that tastes good. The buffalo yogurt is very high in fat. The whole milk is used for both goat and buffalo. Hope that helps. Susan

In todays Atlanta Journal-Constitution in the Better Health section is a question about Celiac disease. I don't totally agree with the answer to the question, but it is pretty good. Here is a short quote "If celiac disease is confirmed, strict adherence to a very difficult gluten-free diet will heal up a damaged bowel lining." This is on page K7. Susan

ARCHIVED I'm Done With Amy's
Piccolo posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I am done with Amy's. I learned my lesson. On Tuesday I ate one dinner. All seemed fine. On Friday I got so dizzy at work my husband had to come and pick me up. I sure don't want to go through that again. I've heard others say they have trouble with Amy's. My symptoms last about 6 hours. I feel better after a good nights sleep. Thanks for letting... -

Piccolo replied to little d's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Donna, I sound like you with a broken bone. I broke my toe in November. It was swollen and hurt for 8 weeks. It has started feeling better, but it still bothers me. I can't have the seam of a sock on it so I wear my sox at an angle to keep the pressure off the toe. It is healing slowly. I have't had any recommendations for vitamins at all. Susan -

Welcome Lins, Yes it is a bit overwhelming in the beginning. Just take a deep breath and relax. Some here have lost weight and some have gained. Did you know you can still eat cereal. ARCHIVED Daily Wellness/meal Journal
Piccolo replied to Buck22's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Dear Jokamo, I usually say 1 serving or 1 cup it just makes it easier. If they don't have the specific food you eat choose one that is close to the discription as possible. You canalways write the correct food after you print it out. An example is I say I have 2 slices of toast for breakfast etc. Hope this helps. Susan -
