  1. Raven, I just wanted to wish you a Happy Birthday. I hope you have a great day and many more. Susan
  2. Amy's is out for me. I ate her stuff pre-gluten and had no problems. Once I went gluten free I got very sick (it was not pizza) and haven't touched it since. Susan
  3. David, Just wanted to shout a Happy Birthday there and have a good day. Susan
  4. You are right to ditch the Rice Dream. Many people react to it. I don't get near it. You can get other "milk" to drink. Pacific has a rice drink and Hazelnut. You can get coconut milk also. Susan
  5. I just wanted to give everyone a heads up on a gluten free bread that is being discontinued. I was not able to get a loaf at my local grocery store. The brand is Nature's Own. Here is what they had to say. "Dear Valued Nature's Own Friend Over the lat several months, Nature's Own has been offering gluten free bread in a test market trial. thank you...
  6. Tpayn, Welcome, I am also metro Atlanta. The Atlanta Metro Celiacs is having a Thanksgiving dinner in a few weeks. It will be held at Outback in Roswell. It was great last year as I could eat everything and for once not worry about it. That is also a good support group. After this the next meeting should be in January. You are a great guy to support...
  7. Unfortunately Amy's is known for its cross contamination. I have had a reaction to their products. Pre-gluten free I could eat it. Post gluten free I won't touch is again. I had a delayed reaction and I got dizzy and was sick for 6 hours. Be fair warned Amy's can have cc. Susan
  8. Sherry, I would not recommend eating Amy's in any way shape or form. I ate Amy's pre-gluten free with no problems. I ate it after gluten free and had a bad reaction. It gave me a dizzy spell that lasted 6 hours. I've never touched Amy's again. Yes Amy's does have gluten free meals they are known for their cross contamination. Its not worth the...
  9. Julie, I would highly recommend Dr. Cynthia Rudert. She is located on the north side of Atlanta. She is out of network so that means you pay up front and file with insurance. She is very knowledgeable and great to talk too. The first appointment is 1 hour long. Hope that helps. Susan
  10. Yes, I have had the dizzy reaction also. All of mine were food reactions. The first one was several hours after I ate. I woke up with the room spinning. It lasted for 6 hours before I was able to get up and walk around. I also have to keep my eyes open during this time. I now avoid the foods that set it off. I am so afraid of it happening again. ...
  11. Allie, Welcome, I am another one from the area. You have come to the right place for a lot of good information and support. If you need information about a support group there is the Atlanta Metro Celiacs. It has meetings at Scottish Rite Hospital. Ask any time you have questions. Susan
  12. Laurel, I ate there for the Local Gluten Intolerance group for their Thanksgiving dinner. It was great. I had no problems. It is a great place to go. This is where I was introduced to Udi bread which is great also. I would recommend this one for anyone. Susan
  13. David, I just wanted to wish you Happy Birthday. Hope it is a good one. Susan
  14. Sliver Sliper, Let me tell you about me. I have always been small. I am now in my 60's. I am 4'11" and only weigh about 80 pounds. This is the heaviest I have ever been. I have been healthy and strong. Being on the small side has not hindered my life. My top weight 9 months pregnant was 92lb. Hope this helps and reassures you. Susan
  15. Welcome, I'm from the Atlanta area. If you get close to the city there are many places you can shop. I use the regular grocery store for most of my food. There is Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Return to Eden. That one is just off I85. So there are many places to get food. Susan
  16. Dear mom, I would not give a toddler the Honeycomb cereal because of the oat flour. Regular oats are considered contaminated. They have either been grown with wheat or processed on the same machines at wheat. I have reacted to things with oat flour and I can eat oats. Susan
  17. Beth, I also had this done by the same lab almost 4 years ago now. I was reacting to 21 different foods. I removed them from my diet and it was almost a year before I added any of them back in. I do a rotation diet to make sure I don't have a reaction. Wheat and gluten were also on this test. That is when I went gluten free and never looked back....
  18. Maryfrancis, Welcome, this is the place to learn and share our knowledge. Lanie940, Sorry, a four slice toaster will not work for your gluten free bread. It will get contaminated by the wheat bread. You need your own toaster. Susan
  19. twe078, No do not eat Rice Crispies. It contains malt. This is made from barley and is not gluten free. Susan
  20. Trina, Yes, Amy's got me too. It was some time ago. I had a delayed response and the room was spinning for 6 hours. I'm never touching anything by that company again. Susan
  21. Alexandra, Welcome to the board. Let me start by saying it gets easier as time goes on. I can answer several of your questions. Yes, it can be genetic. It is recommended that all first degree relatives get tested ie mom, dad, siblings etc. As long as you stick to the gluten free diet you should be able to get pregnant. The weight depends...
  22. Tarnalberry, I just wanted to wish you Happy Birthday. Have a good day! :P Susan (Piccolo)
  23. Happy birthday and may God bless you today!

  24. Lexi, I used so drink Rice Dream when they listed barley on the package. When I went gluten free I stopped drinking it and have never touched it again. I am afraid too. I have had enough bad food reactions that I won't try it again. Rice Dream changed their packaging dropping barley from the package, but not changing the formula. I would not recommend...
  25. There is a way to get around the problem with eggs. Eat duck eggs. I showed a sensitivity to egg white via blood test. It had a recommendation of eating duck eggs. I have had no problem with them. They are slightly richer then chicken eggs. They also are about $6.00 per dozen. So eat away and enjoy. Susan
