  1. I also have hashimotos. I was diagnosed 2/07 with celiacs. By May of 2007, I was completely off my synthroid. The dr has been monitering my levels, and they have been perfect. My last test was 3 weeks ago...Not only has my TSH been in range, but all the other T's are perfectly in range too. I was diagnosed with Hashimotos in 1999, four years later...
  2. Hello Barara, I think that celiacs is a constant journey. Febrauary 28th will be my one year anniversary that I have been gluten-free. There have been good days, and bad days. The bad days are depressing, fustrating and scary. On those days when you're feeling crummy, you just want to wrap yourself in your home, and not see or hear anyone. I also...
  3. I completely agree. I recently went to a ND, and he limited all my proteins, no dairy, and has me on a variety of probiotics, including magnesium. Each day(actually several times a day ) I check my calves, usually a while after I eat, and the swelling is down to a low roar. Before that, there were times that I couln't recognize my legs...I couldn't believe...
  4. wow, I don't know about anyone else....but you have made me feel better. Last year at this time I wasn't able to be out of bed for more that a few minutes at a time, I was so weak. Here I am a year later feeling much stronger. Yet the times that I feel strange, or know that something is going on inside my belly, I still get sooo scared. But I'm sure its...
  5. Two weeks ago, I had an endoscopy done to see how things were healing. The GI says all looks good, though my stomach is still a little inflamed. The biopsy came back fine. At the end of this month, I have an appointment to see a ND. What I eat one day, might make me sick the next day. I just can't figure it out. This weekend my son was home from college...
  6. I think that I finally understand what happens when I eat too much protein. The other night I had a big slice of meatloaf. The next day, I had intestinal cramping, I get dizzy, and my calves swell, heart palpitations and i just feel crummy. I was wondering if anyone has this happen to them, and also will it always be this way? First I thought was...
  7. My son was sick from the day I put a bottle in his mouth...long story. But at 22, we now know he has celiacs. When he was in high school, he was only 5 feet tall, and wanted so badly to play football, he just was not growing. Today, he is over 6 feet tall, and healthy. No more nausea, stomach aches, running to the bathroom, and that nasty DH that was...

    ARCHIVED Why?!?

We went out to eat just this past Sunday. Both my son and myself (son also has celiacs) wanted the chili salad. The waitress came back saying that the cook said the chili powder does contain gluten We were both disappointed. I have never made chili before...Are most chili powders made the same?
  9. Aprilh, That GI testing that you had done, was that a test that you had done on your own, like enterolab, or does the Dr have to order it for you? janet
  10. Absolutely yes....candida can cause hives. I know that first hand. I think that when I was at my sickest, the candida really took over. Now here I am 10 months later still battling that nasty bugger...its putting up a good fight, but i insist that I will win
  11. At times I used to slur my words, or when I spoke, I knew what I wanted to say, but couldn't find the words. One of the neurologists that I was seeing, said, learn something new everyday, or do a crossword puzzle, make your brain work. It's been 10 months gluten-free for me. I speak much better, the bainfog is still there, and I still get the tingling...
  12. I think that out of all the topics I have seen on this board, this subject is the toughest. I feel that I have been suffering from this too. I have tried, threelac, oregano oil, cutting out the sugar, no fruits, no breads(they have yeast in it) and I am still miserable. I have tried the saliva test, and you are right, is it all just BS?? There definitely...
  13. Goodmorning What is L-Glutamine? Is it a probiotic? Right now I am talking co-q10, magnesium, sublingual b12, viactiv, and oregano oil. I'm not sure if any of it is helping me. I work in a hospital on Long Island. A respected cardiologist told me about the co-q10, and that he is a believer in it. I don't know, I think that all of this can make you...
  14. I was diagnosed 2/07 with celiacs. It has been a real rocky road since that time. At the time of my diagnosis I was b12, calcium, vit d deficient. I was very sick, and thought that I wasn't going to make it. It has been 10 months, and I feel that I have gained much knowledge, but there are times when I do get glutened, and my system lets me know, theres...
  15. Actually yes, they did leave spots. That also happened on my legs. I hate the way my skin looks now, its such a mess
  16. Joyous... About three weeks ago we went out to dinner and I got the impression that the restaurant was not gluten savvy....the next morning when I woke up I had an itchy rach all over my chest. I am sure that it had something to do with being glutened I am not sure though if it would considered DH? The rash lasted about 2 weeks....annoying!!
  17. Dear TestyTommy, I'm with you. I think that the Drs are idiots, I haven't seen one that impressed me yet. Last Christmas at this time I ws so sick, I could barely make it out of bed most days. At the beginning of Nov, I went to see a new GI Dr. He scheduled me for an endoscopy for Dec 28th. Even though I went crazy going from place to place...
  18. Hi Ken, My son who is 22, and a college senior went gluten-free this past June. In the past 4 years he had become unrecognizable. Mood swings, phobias, almost like a wall went up, and there was no reaching or reasoning with him. Covered in DH, he reluctantly went gluten-free. Then end of August, he decided he couldn't go back to school without...
  19. Yes, I had my gallbladder out December 2006. They promised me it would solve all my problems. The next day after I left the hospital, the surgeon said, no restrictions, eat whatever you like....I came home and made pancakes, and didn't leave the bathroom for a very long time. I went back to see the GI, and explained that something was still very wrong...
  20. Your little bundle of joy must have arrived by now...Congratulations! Hope your wife and son are doing well. Janet
  21. Everytime I think I have it under control, it happens. The pain and discomfort come back. I have been so careful with everything, also especially not going out ot eat. I think for sure that I have a yeast overgrowth. Can that cause abdominal pain? I don't go to the GI until November, and I can't stand feeling like this. I don't even know what to eat...
  22. ravenwoodglass, you just made me cry...I hear you, I've been there. When I use to walk up and down the stairs, my heart used to beat out of my chest, and once I was at the top I had to wait and compose myself, catch my breath. Now I can be screaming at the kids as I am running up the stairs It's something that I think I will never believe, even...
  23. georgie, what is armour thyroid? I was diagnosed with Hashimotos in 1999. I was always on synthroid. Now that I am gluten-free, my TSH has stablized, and I no longer take meds, but.........I recently went for my bloodwork and it shows that my T3 is too low. The Dr says no meds unless the TSH starts to drop. Does this sound right? You know, I just...
  24. 7 cody, I'm curious, is your stomach bothering you? These last few days I am having the sore stomach and rib pain. Kind of feels like something is ripping at my gut, and I have no idea of what it is. I am wondering now if it is soy. I am soooo tired of playing the"what shall I eat today game". I just don't know what else to avoid. Janet
  25. catesfolly, uhoh....just to let you know, the reeses mini peanut butter cups have gluten in it. I had 2 of them and was sick for days...I called Hersheys and they said the small ones aren't gluten-free.
