ARCHIVED Confused About Testing & Diagnosis
Alexolua replied to Judithg's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Oops, yeah.. being gluten-free has no effect on Gene testing. Guess I should been more specific there.. thanks Mariann. =) -
How sensitive are you? Because if you aren't super sensitive, then you may not feel anything. Though doesn't mean you aren't doing yourself harm. I like to be really careful though, and don't trust others to not contaminate something I'm eating. =)

ARCHIVED Igg Positive
Alexolua replied to dmbaird1230's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Not much. Celiac Disease is just a gluten intolerance that has lead to damage of the lining of your small intestines. Both reguire you to do the same thing, aviod gluten. And some people, me included, can refer to a gluten intolerance, as Celiac Disease. You can always call him to ask questions. Or more likely, leave a message with questions for him.... -
ARCHIVED Confused About Testing & Diagnosis
Alexolua replied to Judithg's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yeah, I'd say Enterolab is worth it. My biopsy was negative. My blood was a maybe, but his tests came back saying yes. For the genes too. You might want to check out this Open Original Shared Link. A quote from it: Which basically, believe means.. that the genes your doctor tested for didn't show up, but there could be other genes that your doctor... -
You're asking if just the meat is gluten-free, right? It's possible it could be. The major problem you could encounter though, is that the person who would prepare your meat for you, is also handling the buns for other people's meals, and could get some trace amounts of gluten on your meat. That's called cross contamination. When a food that is gluten...

ARCHIVED Genetic Testing
Alexolua replied to ashase's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Cheek sample. I can't speak for all doctors. Mine had just never heard of Enterolab, so doesn't agree with his testing. Doctor Fine (at Enterolab) said he was working on a study to be published, which I'd hope would then give something for doctors to read about his work. -
Anyone try this? I bought some Enter-G Foods Bread Crumbs and had some chicken tenderlions (raw). I filled a pan with oil, about enough to cover the chicken when put it, and then heated it up. Then I would grab a tenderlion, rised it off with water, then rolled it in the Enter-G Foods Bread Crumbs, making sure it was completely covered. After that...

ARCHIVED Firmly Gf With Continuing Symptoms
Alexolua replied to celiac3270's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
celiac3270, yeah if yer seeing the doctor, best to be double safe and check with him. =) I do know drugs that were for depression, were marketed to kids when they were only tested on adults. Assuming kids as little adults, but kids chemically have differences since they are still growing and developing, unlike adults. That's why I speak up. Though I... -
ARCHIVED Molasses
Alexolua replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Try yahoo or google, not just this website! =P Did another search on yahoo, since google scares me, lol. Found this. Open Original Shared Link Recipe from the website gluten free.com, and for the molasses cookies, it just says molasses.. no fancy gluten-free name brand or anything. =) Anyway, it's from a tree, Molasses is, isn't it? And trees... -
ARCHIVED How To Find Out If Your Gluten Intolerent?
Alexolua replied to lyndszai's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Okay.. this could be wrong, still learning.. so if someone says I am, then I'll bow to them, lol. But Celiac Disease, by definition I think is when the vili in your small intestines get damaged by gluten. Gluten intolerance is when your body can't tolerant gluten. If you keep eating gluten containning foods while you are intolerant, than you can develope... -
ARCHIVED Genetic Testing
Alexolua replied to ashase's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Because unfortunately, my doctor isn't a Celiac specialist. Though he did mention he heard of genetic testing done by a group in CA, when I showed him enterolabs' results. So guess he knows a little, lol. -
ARCHIVED Has Anyone Heard Of This Test?
Alexolua replied to GEF's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
All a biopsy can tell is if the small intestines is damaged. A gluten intolerance doesn't always damage the small intestines right away, but can cause other problems instead. And there are the problems txceliacmom mentioned about the test too. Pretty sure there are a few others here at the least, who had neg biopsies too. -
By hungry, I don't mean your stomach feeling hungry.. but like just a really strong urge, feeling, something.. to eat!! Like feeling it in all your being. Maybe could call it feeling ravenous if that's the word I'm thinking of, LOL.. I dunno. But I've been feeling this way this all week, later in the day. So been eating more than usual! And the only change...

ARCHIVED Has Anyone Heard Of This Test?
Alexolua replied to GEF's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
But for this one, won't you have to drink that awful stuff to clear you out? And things aren't suppose to go up that way! Sounds uncomfortable too. Does sound like a good test though to have done though. Especially with the drawbacks of the endoscopy. Could try mentioning it to my GI doc when I see him this week, but if it's uncommon, I doubt he'll have... -
ARCHIVED Molasses
Alexolua replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Jill, I don't know for sure.. but I just put Molasses and gluten-free in yahoo, did a search, and found quite a few gluten-free recipes that use molasses. Also found a wesbite called the gluten free market, that has products with molasses in them. So think it's a safe guess to say it is gluten-free. To be extra safe, could call the company for any contamination... -
ARCHIVED Firmly Gf With Continuing Symptoms
Alexolua replied to celiac3270's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
celiac3270, not trying to scare you or anything! But what's the label say for those under 18? Usually drugs get tested on adults, and they don't always make sure it's safe for kids. Or at least, that's how they use to do it. Assume kids to be "smaller adults" which isn't true. Think it'd be good to drill your doctor on what kind of testing was done with... -
ARCHIVED Genetic Testing

How'd you get your testing done? I went through Enterolab. My results, LOL. -
ARCHIVED Should You Thank The Catholic Church?
Alexolua replied to Alexolua's topic in Publications & Publicity
Yeah.. that's definitely a beef I have. Article in the newspaper kept calling it a rare disease, until finally.. ohh.. it's Celiac, and what, gluten? Oh I thought she couldn't have wheat! If the story stays around long enough, would hope the press would eventually start reporting it better. And yeah, as Jill said.. nothing against Catholics here or... -
Sorry then Richard. Good points, and no offense meant. Was just trying to be overly helpful, like usual. Not always a good thing. =)
-
You're welcome, and yeah, I figured he wouldn't accept them. But thought I'd mention it incase you didn't know. =) Hmm.. hopefully you can get positively tested then! Hopefully this doctor can help get you diagnosed, then if you really need too, you could get full custody of your son? No offense.. but sounds like your ex is a moron.. and may not even have...

I'm guessing everyone who has come by this board recently, should know the story about the 8 year old girl being denied her First Communion, because she took a rice waffer instead of a wheat one, because of Celiac Disease? I don't know if the National Media is catching more wind of it, but as mentioned in another thread, I saw a segment about it on a National...

Having been raised Catholic, I know it would be more than once a month. My family, it would be once a week. Think that was normal? Though if someone is going to church more, than that'd be getting it more than though. No offense or anything. Just thought I'd mention that, since you didn't know, not being Catholic. =) pogirl1786 -> I'd agree with...

ARCHIVED Undiagnosed W A Difficult Dr- Help!
Alexolua replied to beccathorn's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Good info by GEF. Gonna throw in my 2 cents. =) They don't with a doctor's order, but the lab does have doctors, if that helps? Basically you order it online, they mail you the tests, then you give a stool sample or DNA sample, then send it back to them. They'll then send you an email with your results. Mine took 4 weeks. But if you have questions... -
dmbaird1230 -> Best to call the doctor, and find out what he'd best like you to do. Mention the earlier test, the results, and whether or not he'd want you on gluten. Most likely, you'd be leaving a message with a nurse, so make sure it's written down! Then the Doctor.. or a nurse who talked to the doctor, should call ya back with the answers. Least...

I emailed him yesterday, like mentioned, and got a response back today!! Wow. Though, he kinda told me to go on the diet, while I mentioned I had been on it for 8 weeks.. lol.. but I'll forgive that since he responsed quick. Sent another, hopefully more clearer about what I'd like. CarolynM -> Trying that now (tracking down articles).. but not too good...
