  1. Heather, best thing to do is call the company and speak to someone. The vinegar, I've heard, depending on how it's distilled could contain gluten. Could be wrong there. Could also be a cross-contamination issue too. Gotta remember that unfortunately. Even if it looks safe, may not be. So ask the company if there is a chance of contamination. Ask if anything...

    ARCHIVED The Good Life

Though I never look at calories, fat, etc.. too concerned about the other part of the label, LOL. Good points Jill. Though I don't really like to cook, even now... argh! (I do though, lol)
  3. Rereading the post I responded too, nix my response. The one by Burdee sounds more likely. =)
  4. Well, might have. Read on here, some people with the genes for Celiac Disease, or a gluten intolerance, may never have problems in their life. Sometimes something needs to trigger it.. and maybe your eating disorder did that. If I understand it correctly. So, the eating disorder didn't cause it.. but might have triggered it.
  5. Could be withdrawal, or he's really young right? So could be really hard for him to deal with too. A lot of adults have trouble dealing! I'm pretty sure I went through withdrawal. Had a bad headache for 4 days or so.. and mild one, making it about a week.
  6. You also produce anti-bodies to gluten when you are intolerant to gluten. At first I thought I had celiac disease too, but after learning more, and having a biopsy done that showed no vili damage, I had to admit I didn't have celiac disease. Though I did have gluten anti-bodies in my blood, so am intolerant to gluten. I've also had serious stomach problems...
  7. Not an expert, or a doctor. Though this is what I've believed to be true so far. lilliexx it sounds like your doctor is clueless. Celiac Disease and a Gluten Intolerance, she claim to be two different things? celiac disease is cause by a Gluten Intolerance. And they are both "cured" the same way. By avoiding gluten the rest of your life. The only real...
  8. Wow.. I was pretty much fine stopping gluten cold turkey (besides a real nice headache). Lost about 14 pounds since then too. Though I had been eating lots of crap before I went gluten-free, to enjoy the things I would never been able to again, so gainned a bit of weight too. =)
  9. I haven't had any, but can definitely see how Celiac disease could lead to one. Though I don't have any other useful info. =)
  10. Yeah Pegster, I agree. celiac3270 is a smart kid! Hard working too when it comes to helping others on here. =) Good luck with everything celiac3270. =D
  11. Yeah that's what I was thinking Tiffany. And thanks, I'll try out silk. =)
  12. I either haven't had wheat since I went gluten-free, or my body doesn't really show any reactions to it. Didn't really before either. My health just slowly fell apart, lol. Though if I do ingest casein, something else I have to avoid, I feel a reaction in about 24 hours. Like maybe it needs to react the end of my large intestines? I dunno.
  13. I wasn't sure where this should go, think it fit a few areas.. so I went with coping. Sorry if bad! =) Okay, I found Shedd's Willow Run Soybean Margarine on a like two different sites for gluten-free/CF diets.. and looking at what's in it, didnt' see any problems. So got it! Been using it for awhile now, maybe.. errm 3-4 weeks? Anyway, last Monday night...
  14. Tiffany, he mentioned this to me in an email: So maybe that study he mentioned will be published and peer reviewed? No idea. I'm kinda pro E-lab too, and they respond quick to emails, least in my experience.
  15. It can appear later on in life (least the symptons). Happened to me, and pretty sure with a lot of others who post here. =)
  16. I was told I had fibromyalgia. Though, most of the pain I was in from it seemed to go away.. overtime. That was before I went gluten-free though.. still working on trying to improve on the gluten free diet. So, yeah.. I have been diagnosed with it, but it more or less went away (as in I don't want to walk pain, still get some like right now lol).. before...
  17. Hmm.. not sure then if you could use them then if yer in the UK offhand. You could try emailing them to ask, in my experience they are quick in responding. Though hopefully your tests come out positive, would make things easier.. umm.. yeah, I'm still not use to wishing positive test results on someone yet, lol.. sorry. =)
  18. Far from an expert, but I'll try. The antigliadin test being positive doesn't mean you have celiac disease. Means you could have celiac disease. You'd beed to get some small intestines biopsies done to know for sure if you have celiac disease, because celiac disease is "offically" when the lining of the small intestines (or villi) are damaged by a gluten...
  19. Nukapai, the only thing I can think of saying that might offer some help, if you can't bear to stay on gluten.. and it messes up your test results, is try to get tested through enterolab.com. They check stool for anti-bodies, and check for genetic markers too. And you can be off gluten for awhile, and not mess up the anti-body test. The only problem is...
  20. One of the best things you can do to help your body heal, is to try not to worry. Adds more stress. I know it is a concern, but try to give it the wait and see attitude. Hopefully you will still be fertile. =) On a side note.. am I the only male not scared off by a thread mostly about periods? LOL
  21. Yeah, important to avoid all sources of gluten that you can. Gets on the hands, then can be ingested when she eats, or just puts her hands in her mouth. Your doctor may not think it she needs to avoid all sources, but she is intolerant to gluten. So best to keep all sources out of her body. Think of it as being posion. Would you let her have some, just...
  22. LOL yeah I saw that. And he's shaking and wiggling around on the ground! Now if we responded like that to gluten, I think we'd be taken a bit more seriously, after the laughing stopped. =) On.. and on another note. Do you watch Dead Like Me? Tonight they had a guy on who claimed to have IBS. Kept farting.. and was like, I have IBS! You can't discriminate...
  23. Doesn't sound in your head.. sounds great actually! I'd call ya lucky too, cuz I'm taking a bit longer to improve. =P Keep up the good work!
  24. Also in NY here. But I'm to your west over near Syracuse. Ditto to what Coutler said. I don't know anyone in real life, actually really haven't talked to anyone by IM or email either.. but found this board to be very very helpful with the confusion and such. Just look around, use the search function to find things. And if you can't find something, start...
  25. Hiya redkms. I really don't have any helpful advice I could add to what Burdee has already said. But, did want to ask if you know for sure Captain Crunch is gluten-free? I just spent awhile looking for it on yahoo, and couldn't find any sites saying so. Now that doesn't mean it isn't gluten-free, just wanted to ask to make sure. Like did ya call the company...
