  1. I get those heart palpatations....mine comes from gluten. I was at the hospital once during one of those times and my heat rate was 125 beats per minute - alarms went off. I also get the dizzy stuff too. It is scarey. I try an lay down for a bit when this happens. You should rule out any other possible problems with your dr before you make any conclusions...
  2. I have been getting the Act II Butter. It is pretty good, and I like to get the individual bags -
  3. Annatto Coloring - is this a hidden form of Gluten? I saw on someones page that it was - does anyone know for sure? i didn't think that it was, but need to know for sure, thanks in advance.
  4. Barb! Tell your sister to get away from that dr asap! Look for another, if you are close to a big city it would be well worth your families drive to locate someone new. I say "cut the cord" with that doctor!!!
  5. When I first started the probiotics - the pharmacy told me that I could feel worse for a least a week - he told me it was because the good and the bad bacteria would have a bit of a battle - but to stick with it, it would be worth it. I was to take them once in the morning and once at night. The probiotics have really helped me. The kind I take are florajen...

    ARCHIVED Thirst

When I fell sick I was so thristy - it was horrible - I drank and drank all the time - then I would be up all night going to the bathroom - but I was even thirsty at night too! I was tested over and over again for diabetes - but everything was fine there. Even though I was constantly drinking, I had rough battle with dehydration -- I was in the hospital...
  9. vegetable protein or hydro. veg protein is usually gluten too! Wheat germ oil, extract, and starch sometimes are listed too. I am thinking "spent grain" might be wheat gluten too.

    ARCHIVED Detoxing

Hi Donna - Everyone is different, so you may feel what others do, or you may not. I was SOOOOO bad off!! It does take a bit of time - ( it took me weeks to notice any change) some even say then after 4 to 6 weeks you have a reccurence - and even some more allergies show up. Some people never experience any problems at all - even though the gluten is...
  11. Sometimes the more I read - see -know- the more scared I become....
  12. Will be saying prayers for you and your family. Please keep us posted how your dad is doing. God-Bless you during this trying time.
  13. Thought I would post a couple of different kinds of sores that celiacs and people with food allergies are prone too - APTHOUS ULCERS and ANGULAR CHEILOSIS I would get the the apthous with my celiac - and my daughter gets the angular cheilosis - with her thyroid Thankfully I have not had any for awhile ...
  14. I can't do any kind of gluten-free bread very well - yeast bothers me way to much But I miss sandwiches too - I recently switched to romain lettuce - even grew my own - as a wrap for my sandwiches. Great for tuna, grilled hamburgs, even had a gluten-free hotdog rolled up in the lettuce with mustard, was better than bread any day. I like to eat almond...
  15. THe fresh veg and fruits are the best, especially if you get the organic. Get some instant potato flakes that are gluten-free - You can use this instead of breading on your meats. I was making plain fish, or chicken...and my husband wanted a bit more. So you can dip them in an egg wash, or even water for that matter - then the potato flakes...sometimes...
  16. This happened to me when I first went gluten-free....someone on here told me to be careful of cross-contaimination. AND also, things you might not think of - cutting boards - will hold gluten - toasters, mayonaise, jelly, peanut butter, teflon pans, wooden spoons, plastic spatulas, etc....check these things out. Even certain medications contain gluten....
  17. I agree with ravenwoodglass!! Be very careful with this cleanse. I am wondering if pro-bitotics would benefit you much, much more. I take those, with the fos powder ( that feeds the good bacteria!) . My side pains have gone away....PLEASE be extra careful!!
  18. I substitute a lot of my oil with applesauce to bake with. I did it before I knew I was celiac. My kids always said the cakes were more moist - we called it our secret ingredient.
  19. A product by malibu - Hemp Golden Glow. I talked to the chemist there and he assured me that it was gluten-free. You can get it at walmat. I can't use products that change my skin, it seems to give me a funny taste in my mouth. ( I am NOT tasting it, just sometimes when I have different lotions on I get a metal taste in my mouth) But this product seems to...
  20. I am using crest also. Recently I asked the colgate makers about gluten, and they can not be certain they are gluten-free One of my children uses Tom's - it is organic, and it doesn't have flouride. Flouride seems to bothers her thyroid
  21. When I first found I had celiac disease = I was getting cross contamination from just about everything in the refridg, then I bought myself all my own condiments and put a big fat G*F on them (for gluten free). That way if there was any gluten in the other condiments I didn't get it. Now the family shares the same ones - we have a gluten-free house with food...
  22. I take a muti-vitamin group which incorporates all the essential vitamins and minerals. It has all the B complex vitamins. There are 6 morning and 6 night vitiamins that I take everyday in this group. I love them, they have given me more energy in just a few weeks then I have had over the last few months. I am also sleeping better than I have over the...

    ARCHIVED Blisters

I had a scar on my hand from a gluten antibiotic IV - SINCE Dec. Mine has just gone away since I started watching like a hawk with what I was putting on my skin at all times. I am only using botanically based lotions that are gluten-free. Watch carefully what you are putting on your skin...anything from hand cream to soap, could be just about anything...
  24. SO glad that your allergic reaction problems from foods have disappeared! Miralax is gluten free. You might try it, maybe once a day or even every other day to see what works for you. If I have had to take it, I have mixed it with juice, but you can mix it with water if you want. (the nurses at the hospital have all said mix it with warm prune juice, can...
  25. Yes, there is such a thing as GLUTEN Free cones - I have seen two different brand name versions, but very, very pricey - but worth it if you really want it. I have never tried them, so I don't know what they taste like.
