  1. I would have to agree with Molly. I have had many of the same symptoms you had and they have all gone away (well, 90%) since I have been gluten free. If I were you, you could have your GP run blood tests...make sure that the test includes these..."IgA endomysial antibodies (EMA), IgA tissue transglutaminase (tTG), IgG tissue transglutaminase and Total IgA...
  2. Angie, Can you give me a "recipe" for you quinoa thing? I have never used quinoa before and have no idea how to make it. Thanks!! Kassandra
  3. I live in Los Angeles, so there are about 5 Whole Foods within 30 minutes of me. But, I like one thing from one store and a different thing from another, etc. so it can get annoying. Has anyone tried the EnerG tapioca bread? Is it any good? If not, what is a good bread? Kassandra
  4. I can totally understand! I have been gluten-free about the same amount of time that you have. It is really hard and I STILL crave donuts like there's no tomorrow. For me it took getting glutened ONCE by putting a piece of gluten-free bread in the non gluten-free toaster! OMG...I was so sick that no matter how much I crave the donuts I know it's totally not...
  5. Juliebove, Where would you suggest I order from then? I appreciate your honesty. Kassandra
  6. I want to buy some food on amazon, but I don't want to get everything in 6 or 12 packs. I don't want 6 cake mixes...lol. So, does anyone know how to order things on there without getting everything in bulk? My next question is what would you buy if you could get ANYTHING (making sure it's dairy/casein free and peanut free) what would it be? I also want...
  7. I didn't post yesterday...so here's what I had: B- two slices of turkey bacon L- turkey burger (just the patty) with brown rice and spinach (this is my favorite combo lately!) D- Brown rice with chicken stir-fry and green beans S 1- 10 almonds S 2- 10 cashews Kassandra P.S. What do people do when youre craving something SO BADLY but you know...
  8. That's really interesting about bone density. She knows that because of all my spine problems I'm not able to do much exercise right now. I'm not totally against the pill because so far I don't have any side effects but if and when that becomes a problem. Kassandra
  9. I just wanted to say that if your daughter ever wanted to email me...I can totally relate to the friends thing at school...Im 17. My email is knshore@hotmail.com and my aim screenname is knsgoestonz511 but email is best. Good luck to her! Kassandra I would love to talk to her.
  10. CarlaB, I am 5' 4" and weight 110 lbs. I am thin, but not extremely thin. I will definitely research some stuff. Kassandra
  11. CarlaB, Thanks for your ideas. I was totally completely 100% against the pill but I almost died from anemia because I bled for so long. It was that or being sent to the hospital for estrogen IV's to stop the bleeding so I opted for the pill. I will definitely do some research. I have a question...I don't know if you can answer... does one have to be over...
  12. Hello everyone, It's a long story but I want to lose about 5-10 lbs. As far as my exercise goals, I don't have any. I am in Physical Therapy for my back so I do a lot of stuff with them, so for now I don't have any need to exercise. I also was told NOT to do anything unless with the Physical Therapist, so I will be holding off for a little while. As far...
  13. This is really intersting. Someone mentioned that an environmental change can trigger celiac. I am not diagnosed yet but have EVERY symptom and in 2004 I moved to New Zealand and that is realllllly when my symptoms started to become apparent. I have always had "a senstitive stomach" and "whole wheat" allergy, but never had heard of celiac. DOes anyone think...
  14. CarlaB, Well I am 17 and got my period when I was 14 and it never once has been regular. The problem was I got SOOOO severely anemic. Last year in March I got my period and then it took 90 days for it to go away. I was put on the pill at about day 80 of bleeding (I didn't go to the dr. til day 79ish). Then I was on the pill for about 5 months and I hated...
  15. I haven't tried Kinninnick (sp?). I am also dairy free, so that is also limiting. I don't know if they're dairy free also. Thank you for the suggestion. I'll look into that. Kassandra
  16. CarlaB, I guess the hope is for me to not belled 90 days in a row and then go 6 months without a period at all. My periods are SO crazy out of control that my GYN wants me to just be able to "shed" every month so I don't end up bleeding for 90 days consecutively again. And the newest thing was not having my period for 6 months and then she induced it and...
  17. I am going to Lake Tahoe at the end of this month. I will be staying in a house, so it will be easy to make meals, etc. But my main question is does anyone know of any health food stores in the Lake Shore area? I know there is a Raley's there, but I have no idea what they carry, in the way of gluten-free foods. I will be flying up from LA, so it's about a...
  18. Sweetfudge, This is really funny because I am about to go on BC again to regulate my periods, but I was on it for awhile last year and it caused me to gain weight. When I went off of it, I thought I would lose everything I gained, but I actually had to diet, etc. to get the weight off. But again, it's totally different for everyone. Kassandra
  19. I just wanted to say I totally understand what you're going through! I have been known to eat whole cakes. Kassandra
  20. I just needed to share that everyone in my family, (on my dad's side) have been really supportive of my dietary restrictions. I live in LA, my dad lives in New Zealand and he is out here for the week and his two brothers have come in from Washington to see him. I thought it would be a total nightmare with by gluten-free cf diet, but they have been extremely...
  21. I know for a fact that aquafresh is gluten-free. If you go to their site and look at FAQ's it says that all their toothpaste is, I don't know about other things such as whitening products, etc. Kassandra
  22. Amy, I was told by the director at the Celiac Disease Foundation that if you don't have the gene, you CAN'T have celiac. They usually suggest the gene testing to people who want to know if Celiac is even a possibility. IE, if you have the gene, it's possible, if you don't, it's not possible. Also, I would try to get your son tested through the doctor if...
  23. I just wanted to say that the glutenfreeda.com recipe for chicken and wildrice salad is REALLLLLLY good! Kassandra
  24. Zofran works really well! I just took some myself and I'm waiting for it to kick in. It can be really expensive if insurance doesn't cover. Mine did, but the copay was $56-which for me...well I was just happy it wasn't $500! Kassandra
  25. Thank you for your response! I appreciate it! Kassandra
