  1. I was also going to say be sure they have checked you for tropical sprue. And yes, gluten eating is necessary in good amounts until after the biopsy, be sure you stay on it that long. Parasites are very very hard to test for accurately. And they can really mess up the intestine, and could trigger celiac disease in the susceptible I imagine. But also...
  2. Rachel, I wonder if any of the relaxation type things would help? Anything that would be calming might be helpful. Also I wonder if any of the "tapping" that Dr. E uses might help, like the EFT stuff we talked about before too. I'm thinking especially of the EFT where you think about the situation that is stressful (i.e. shyness) and then do series...
  3. I wish it worked that well for me, Shay, LOL! Maybe you can figure out what to put in there, or cut the amount of the smoothie? Or maybe it is just a healing process thing? I'm still doing the veggie smoothie every morning...I'd guess mine is more like 2-3 cups, I find it hard to judge amounts when I use 6 things! There were clearly more parasites...
  4. Carla, I continue to be jealous! Maybe sometime my time will come... Sherry
  5. I don't have time to look up the exact figures just now, getting ready for a 2 week trip. But the first one was a 1, 25 and it was low. Started supplementing and rechecked 25 hydroxy in a couple of months and it was 50. Still below the bottom of normal range. My doc wants it at 80. Took 2,000 a day for 2-3 months, then upped to 6000 for a 3 weeks or...
  6. Since you sound very careful about your diet, further celiac diagnosis might not be possible. If your rash has any blisters at all though, you can ask a dermatologist to do a biopsy on that for celiac. I hope your doctor will check for both 25 hydroxy vitamin D and 1,25 vitamin D levels. The first is more common, and the latter more expensive. If you...
  7. I add my welcome. Good for you for doing your own research and persisting for an answer! Many people have gone a lot longer before finding an answer. Anemia should have been a red flag to check celiac. Good advice given. Also there could be vitamin, mineral and amino acid deficiencies. Thcse can linger or right themselves fairly quickly depending...
  8. Hi Rachel, I am thinking about this, and it is possible that I only get a reaction when I reach the threshold. My reactions have been hard to trace in the past. However, it seems like things have stabilized since the SCD which I think is the carb digest problem. Now it seems like my reactions are becoming more clear and consistent. Like the squash...
  9. Rachel, I looked over the list of foods high in sulfur, salicylate, amines, and oxylate, and no pattern stands out to me. Maybe it is just intolerances to the food proteins mostly. Sherry
  10. Rinne, we have a lot in common with both lyme and celiac. I've been treating lyme since 2000 with antibiotics. I haven't had dramatic digestive symptoms and gained instead of lost weight. However, I eventually discovered profound malabsorption and many deficiencies and had constant up and down swings after going gluten-free. There's been an excellent...
  11. Rachel, do you have a good source about dopamine in foods? I notice dairy seems to be an issue, but I am fine with butter, aged cheese (I don't use a lot) and goat milk yogurt. Sherry
  12. Well, Donna, the rest of us are now wondering, "Do I have floppy intestines???" So glad you are better! That's good news. Rachel, I don't handle bananas well. But I haven't noticed any problem with avocado, although I can't get it out here unless I find it imported somewhere. Interesting, another thing to research. Also, on the B12: I thought...
  13. Ali, I notice agave nectar isn't on the SCD legal list, so perhaps a warning here for those new to the diet...
  14. Rachel, just looked at my Doctors Data from July. Ammonia is very low. 7940uM (ref: 12000-56000). Actually that is low, arginine is low, and citrulline is right in the middle of normal. So this doesn't fit at all with ammonia detox problems. So not sure what the yucca may be helping. Is there any of the mutations associated with low ammonia? I...
  15. Donna, this is fantastic news! I bet you are losing weight with all of this challenge, too. Hope you can enjoy your holiday dinners a little at least. ROFL about floppy intestines! What a scientific term!!! Now I wonder what the downside is of having a too floppy intestine??? Sherry
  16. Rachel, thanks for this explanation. My ammonia was either high or low, I need to check that again. Dr. E borrowed someone's kit for the enzyme pathways and methylation and tested on ART. There was some blockage but I don't remember exactly what she said. She said that she was not familiar with this area much so she couldn't really interpret it. But...
  17. Hi all, reading your wonderful dinner plans was great! Happy Belated BD, Shay! we are both Nov BDs! I had a more simple meal since it was just me this time, some of my plans didn't work out. But my housekeeper and I had roast chicken with Italian seasoning, a type of green bean that is very very good--it is wider and flatter than our green beans...
  18. Rachel, I just remembered that I am taking yucca root for the blocked pathways (tested by Dr. E with ART); I'm curious if you have come across that and what it unblocks, since I didn't get much of an explanation about it. Sherry
  19. Hi Rinne. I've been on SCD since mid July. My LLMD put me on after testing (twice) showed that I was not digesting carbs. I discovered the enzymes to complete carb digestion (lactase as is commonly mentioned on this forum, but at least two others too) are made in the villi, and apparently 15 months on gluten-free had not been enough to heal that. ...
  20. Did anyone try Asian stores for coconuts? I forget.
  21. Welcome. Sounds excellent. Yes in terms of pre-birth. There's been some suggestion of through breast milk but that isn't so likely. More likely even that she has been in the same environment. Many ticks are too small to be seen. So if you have been bitten, she could have as well. I I'd ask your LLMD. Some...
  22. Dawn, Sorry about the struggle. Have you tried the little bit of soda in water after eating to see if it helped with the mucus? I would imagine the dairy could be the problem with the mucous, and the goat yogurt or coconut would surely be worth a try. About taste, I suppose there is a difference but the goat milk yogurt is very tasty to me. Its...
  23. Fascinating. I'd like to learn more about the biochemistry of this.
  24. That seems high for duck eggs, sorry. One time I found them in a local co-op where farmers brought their produce especially organic. But I don't recall the price, it was a long time ago. They are more expensive than chicken eggs, true. Asian goods may not list all the ingredients, just a warning. Valda, I've forgotten if you said this before, but...
  25. Has anyone had trouble with the nut flours burning really easily? What works for you?
