  1. April, the book is Breaking the Vicious Cycle, about the specific carbohydrate diet. You might check out www.pecanbread.com. There is also an official SCD website. Sherry
  2. Just sent out my update. Rachel, I have thought of you about whether or not the Gemmobase treatments could be helpful. These are the plant stem cell/plant embryo extracts which are supposed to be really good. I'm just starting three. The one I wonder about for you is the Fig; it is supposed to be major help to the whole GI system, there is a whole...
  3. I'm guessing there are more factors perhaps than we know. Because while some on this forum seem to do amazingly well gluten-free, there are numbers that don't improve fully and continue to have some degree of gut issues. My guess is that it isn't a black and white/either or situation, but that there may be a subgroup that do have trouble with all carbohydrate...
  4. By the way, reading in the SCD book gave me an insight into this sugar issue. I'd like to know if other research confirms it though. The book said that with the villi damage, not only lactose cannot be digested although that is one of the worst ones. All the enzymes for breaking down sugars and starches are made in the same place, so with villi damage...
  5. Kassandra, I wonder if the months of ABX have actually made headway with the lyme which is why it shows as less of a stress right now. That doesn't mean it isn't there. I also wonder if it has "buried" itself in the tissues because of the ABX treatment and is in a more inactive state. I think at this point I would cautiously weigh in favor of trying...
  6. Kassandra, this is all very hard. Its not okay, in the sense that you should be out there doing all the normal things with all the other kids. Being frustrated, angry, and depressed about this loss is all pretty normal. At the same time, you have shown a great strength of spirit while going through things most people are never called upon to do....
  7. I think I won't push it for now with raw, stay with cooked. I did jump a little ahead and bought some raspberries and cooked them a bit. I am making the mousse, and will put some in my yogurt and maybe even try some ice cream (shake in a baggie kind).
  8. Charlie, I'm just finishing my second round of humaworm. I don't have any problems with it, it does cause a bit of a burning sensation after I take it. I have also tested very well for it with ART. Sherry
  9. I did find an old thread on the SCD that is very helpful--Julie, thanks for the tip. It will take me awhile to read it. Sherry
  10. Thanks Julie, and everyone else for your encouragements. I figure the transit time for the green beans was 36 hours, so it's not like I am getting bad "D" and nothing is staying in the system long enough. Carla, I ordered another round of humaworm today, LOL! I'm not going to wait 6 months to do it again. I saw another small roundworm today. ...
  11. I'm a bit discouraged...I am following the gradual ramping up of the SCD diet on pecanbread.com, and the green beans I added in have come through undigested. I really don't have any upset or anything, just loose BMs at times--that part is still quite variable but the amount of loose has been much higher on this diet. Maybe that is an improvement from...
  12. Donna, so good to hear from you and glad it is going well!!
  13. Do you have undigested food coming through on the SCD? I am ramping up slowly according to the pecanbread site, and the green beans came through in whole chunks. Did you have to puree stuff or whatever??
  14. Jin, I am glad you posted. Hang in there, there has to be a way out. I love the nanny idea, if you are doing all of that stuff at home, seems like you could be doing that for someone else and get paid! Even if you just get paid enough to get a studio apartment, and buy food, you might improve just because you could control what you are exposed to. I...
  15. Thanks, I appreciate it. I am having more loose stool then I ever usually do since starting the diet. I'm glad it seems to be addressing the remaining big C problems (greatly improved after gluten-free) but the gurgling and urges aren't great. Maybe it is just transitional. I've been pretty careful to follow the intro and stuff. I know I have a problem...
  16. Nancy, I am not sure how best to test things for a sensitive system. I am now using ART and it has seemed useful. Otherwise I just try things. The Humaworm website I think it is says that 90% of Americans have parasites, as we don't do any regular treatment. Supposedly they are mostly benign, but my guess is they are not for we who are ill. But yes...
  17. I thought of you when I talked to my DIL--I don't think she thinks people have them too often, and it must be because I'm in China where it isn't "clean." LOL Sherry
  18. Julie, that's great that your diet is working and helping. How are the breakouts lately? Sherry
  19. My doctor in OR. Snacks?? Right now I am doing jello, yogurt, cheesecake, eggs, meat, chicken soup LOL. Right now, eating some peas sounds really good to me! Tomorrow maybe. Since I was not very symptomatic when I started I thought I would move up quickly on the stages of the diet. But I have had interesting changes in stool...even passed some...
  20. Carla, that's great news about the story! Make sure they let you read the final draft so it isn't distorted by editors that don't understand... Okay, then I feel even more sure about what I saw. Sounds like mine were more digested than yours, but still intact enough to see long fibers, and for the thing to hold together in a long skinny piece. TMI...
  21. Andrea, Dr. G. also shares some of his patients with Dr. Amy...so he'd be open to your working with Dr. E as well. Sherry
  22. I'm taking chlorella and pectin, but probably should have added charcoal. Right now I am away from home so would have to buy some. I'm not sure about the roundworms, but yeah that's the right size, although it could have been longer the other day as one end was kind of in a ball. They aren't really intact, but I can't imagine what else it could be. ...
  23. Yes, it is Open Original Shared Link, and it is just the section with this number: N
  24. Guess the posts were lost so I am going to bump this thread again. I just started the SCD due to lab testing that showed I am not breaking down carbohydrates, so the doctor put me on this. I don't have a lot of symptoms with the GI system, so am tracking mainly fatigue, brain fog, and pain (muscle and nerve). Since I started the diet, just three days...
  25. Too bad about the lost posts...glad it wasn't more. I've had an interesting time on the SCD, fatigue and backache, plus unusual bathroom experiences. Pretty sure yesterday it was a bunch of worms...nasty. Glad it is out of my body, that's for sure. I guess it isn't unusual to have a die off response, so I'll stick this out and see what happens. I...
