Susie, if you are forced to quit the antibiotics you should most likely get yourself onto an herbal protocol rather than going without any treatment to try to help prevent the relapse that is common. Sherry

ARCHIVED Thank You-heard From Dr
mftnchn replied to k2626's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have been reading a lot about Vitamin D and it is an extremely important nutrient. If you improve with just supplementing it, then great. However, there could be other things going on to explain your symptoms and low Vitamin D is a piece of the picture only. Besides celiac, you could have an infection going on like lyme disease (which your symptoms... -

Happy 4th of July holiday to you all! Here's a quick update about what tests I had drawn on Monday: Spectracell comprehensive 5000 (checks intracellular levels of many vitamins, minerals, amino acids, etc), Doctor's Data RBC elements, Vitamin Diagnostics ammonia and Sam/SAH (rbc), plus a PCR test for babesia, and Vitamin D level, liver enzymes and High... -
Symptomax, I read your symptom post and agree that it is important to look into lyme or some other type of infection. Also it couldn't hurt to do a longer gluten free trial as someone else suggested. For many of us, that answers are complex. This forum has been a great place for me to find ideas to pursue. Another area for me has been nutrient...

I second Rachel's question about IGE or IGg. Intolerances can be acquired and may improve when you don't encounter the food. Some allergies can be life-long no matter how much you avoid. I know you are quite careful about CC, right? Sherry -

Hi Katy, We used this because it is a Chinese method of diagnosis and treatment. Actually the head and ears also have meridians that correspond to the whole body. We've had some interesting experiences with it, both with diagnosis and treatment. Some Chinese people walk on smooth rocks everyday to stimulate the bottoms of their feet. Sherry -

That was my thought too. I used baking soda for awhile when I was so chemically sensitive. It can irritate the skin though. Sherry -

Jin, I always appreciate your updates and sure hope one of these remedies works very soon. I like the new picture, too! Kassandra, still hoping for good news soon that the bleeding stops. Mia, I'll be interested in what the diagnosis is from the acupuncture perspective. Andrea, hope you are all well soon, I'll try to call sometime this week. There... -

Carla, I missed your send off as well. I was on TF for several years, I think it was helpful in the whole picture. I went off last winter when it didn't test well with ART. I didn't notice herxing on it, but I may have early on. Everyone, I seem to be going into another herx again, having just had a week or so of being 70-90%. This is almost exactly... -

Mia so sorry things are rough and sure hope you can find a new GI. Kassandra, I sure hope the change in med helps things improve. Carla, and those of you treating babesia, I might need a reminder about what meds work. I should have asked Dr. E to check Melarone I think. Although I would be delighted to be on an only herbal approach for awhile, I worry... -

Hi, another quick drive by. Good appointment today with Dr. E. She said overall there is improvement, and a half dozen or so of the supplements are no longer needed. Major stressors are three bugs: babesia (the #1 problem), chlamydia pneumonie, and mycoplasma, and the heavy metals. Parasites and yeasts were fine, digestion and other things mostly better... -

A quick run by, I made it to this side of the Pacific okay today--headed to bed with some Ambien as I really need to sleep. Kassandra, I am sorry about all this happening at once but am glad the doctor is dealing with it, and hope it all goes smoothly as possible. Do you have the time yet? Sherry -

Kassandra, my thoughts are with you, this is just so much to track. I think your set of doctors should video conference and work out a plan that takes some of the stress off of you. Also it seems like some close tracking and emergent decision making is warranted. Hang in there, and so glad you are able to keep us posted. I'm signing off to pack up... -

Carla, I'm glad you figured it out. Are you back to using Ambien then? Everyone, this is my last full day before I leave for the USA...and I am not sure about my connection once I get to Portland. I finally just confirmed my appointment with Dr. E. on Wednesday, and then I'll have tests drawn on Monday and will try to get a list of what I am having done... -

I'm with RiceGuy...and agree with what he said. If you are willing to come to Portland, send me a PM and I can give you a doctor's name, an internist who specializes in celiac. I'm a new patient, but so far what I hear sounds good. How long have you been off gluten? If a year or less, you could do Enterolab testing yourself, and could test for celiac... -

Welcome! I'm one that has both lyme and celiac. The symptoms can be very similar between lyme and celiac, too. I've been treated for lyme but can't manage to maintain off antibiotics, so have plateaued for several years. Finding out I am celiac has been one piece of the puzzle. Celiac disease has a profound effect on the immune system. To maintain...

Nancy, I'm glad you have made this decision. Perhaps the PA option would be a good one to consider? My impression is that Carla's doctor is very thorough about screening for more than lyme. Please keep us updated, we are so hoping you'll see some improvement. Sherry -

Nora, thanks for the vitamin D links. I remember a family story that is fascinating: My father contracted bovine TB as a child from drinking raw milk. There was no treatment, and finally the doctors suggested a sanatorium (to die, basically). My grandparents couldn't afford that and kept him at home. They had him lay outside all day in the sun throughout...
