  1. I've been using sunflower oil, the other recommended oil. 3-4 days now. My teeth feel cleaner and even tingle after the oil pulling (afterward I rinse well and then brush my teeth). I also think my teeth are whiter. But have a ways to go. I will be delighted if this helps whiten my teeth. I'm not sure about detox because I have some symptoms off and...
  2. Ali, thanks for checking about the dedicated thread. So what if we start some topics and put SCD as the first item in the topic? Like one for people just starting to research the diet, and one for newbies just starting? Our recipe thread is still out there, right?
  3. I think we might need some suggestions from the moderators in terms of the best way to manage. SCD belongs in this forum because it is gluten free, but how to organize it in this forum is the question. We've already started a dedicated thread for recipes for SCD.
  4. Kristina, I haven't a clue about iridology. The site is interesting. My iris looks like the spastic bowel picture, which I think is totally true. Today I have been having a lot of pain with it too. There are quite a few chronically ill people that use energetic testing of various ways to check for what the body wants and needs. More expensive than...
  5. Shay, I'll take a look at that link. What I have learned is that first of all most doctors scoff at this. I recently had a routine colonscopy and the NP that was doing intake was totally of that genre. I got mad and just shut up. She finally decided that I only had them because I had lived overseas (i.e. they read the no trespassing signs at the US borders...
  6. Goodness! I hadn't thought of this. I think it might be wise to have an emergency plan in writing for food including recipes and detailed instructions. My DH doesn't cook at all. If I was too sick to do my own, I'd be up a creek. Friends might be willing but not understand the issues.
  7. Ali, I'm going to ask about more extensive parasite testing when I get back to the USA. The blastocystis h. and dientamoeba f information is fascinating. Fits my symptoms plus I know that I have been very vulnerable to pick up parasites, and that the SCD is having a cleansing effect. From your reading, do you think the SCD approach is adequate to address...
  8. Shay I am noticing my teeth feel especially clean after the oil pulling and then brushing. More so than usual. Also I might be having a bit of die off symptom. It could be due to other things though.
  9. Kristina, I agree with Shay. Acupuncture and related treatments are not considered a problem by Asian people of the same faith as you--only by westerners who don't understand. The one that they do say is a problem is the qi gong--which is one of the things connected to martial arts and sometimes also used in Chinese medicine. I'd be glad to discuss it...
  10. I can relate to that....I'm not all the social to begin with, and now that I have to take my own food I find myself choosing to not go more often than not. I need to figure out a balance, like how many I will do in a week, and figure it into my energy level and schedule. Its not good to withdraw. Also for those who mentioned eating disorder. There is...
  11. Jason, I have a very similar problem and am still looking for answers. The SCD has helped me a lot, the first month was outstanding the difference it made, but then the problem started again after an inadvertent gluten exposure. The SCD material talks about either diarrhea or constipation as a sign of damage etc, and that extra fiber is NOT indicated until...
  12. Thank you Shay. I haven't done a huge amount of reading yet on the oil pulling, but count me in on the experiment! I am delighted to find something more to do detox with, that is SCD safe and won't mess up any other treatments I am doing. And ecstatic that something might help whiten my teeth which have gotten really bad the last several years. I tried...
  13. I was thinking of suggesting DGL (a form of licorice) but it isn't SCD legal: Open Original Shared Link Reading that makes me wonder if you have had any of the inflammatory markers checked. Kristina, I think my bloating and weight gain with gluten (and some other things) seems like an inflammatory response. Yet my blood tests for inflammatory...
  14. I'm using prescription digestive enzymes, so can't help with brands. Very interesting about Neem, I'm going to keep that in mind if I still don't make headway with my bloating. Right now I'm doing a parasite treatment.
  15. Kristina, wish I had more to offer. It sounds like you feel like you don't have options. Blood sugars go up with infections and maybe inflammation?? What happens if you fast? Does the distention change?
  16. Kristina, I think that both sides of the psyllium issue may be correct for different people. Sorry I forget if there are any other symptoms you have? Are you constipated as well? Probiotics, problems with sugars and starches, fructose or other intolerance, intestinal motility issues, parasites, all come to mind. I have had the problem of gaining weight...
  17. Kristina, sorry to hear this and hope that nothing is found that is serious. Sherry
  18. Great post, Ali!
  19. Vitamin D can be deficient because we don't absorb from our food and because we don't get enough sun. Ca and Mg can be checked by blood but one of the problems is that blood and tissue levels of various nutrients, vitamins and minerals can be different. My doc tests in more than one way for various levels. Vit D is done by blood levels, and it is good...

ARCHIVED Group Letter to Dr. Fine

I missed this whole thread until Judy posted a link in another thread that didn't work. I found it by googling.... This is a busy time of year, the board was down over the weekend. I know I have been swamped and not reading so much. In addition, I was avoiding this type of thread due to not wanting to get into any controversy as I found it wasn't good...
  21. Thanks for the posts, I am going to track my symptoms with carrots and fruit and see what I can notice. Also I am very intrigued Shay about the thyroid medication and cholesterol. I have a higher "good" cholesterol, and have been on thyroid for years. Can you mention what changes seemed to help? Chaty, wonderful news! Thanks for posting! I agree...
  22. Looks like you can still eat nuts. I am enjoying some very yummy things made with almond flour. Maybe some of the SCD recipes would work for you. Also some on the SCD enjoying coconut milk, cream, yogurt, etc. Its worth searching out some of the causes of leaky gut, evaluating the healing process after gluten-free, parasites, etc. I have had a...
  23. Pele, on the Vitamin D, what my docs are saying based on the newest guidelines, is that 50 is the low end of the range, not 32 (thats the old standard). My doc wants my level at 80. I'm kind of testing this out: Last year I felt better from Aug to Nov, then started getting much worse in Dec. through the winter. Started D supplementation at a pretty...
  24. You might also post your questions here: https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/index.ph...mp;#entry490510 I'm doing well on SCD and glad it helps you. Where I am at I cannot eat out at all unless I take my own food. However, in the USA I had a very good experience in a mom and pop place that was not crowded. The chef made steamed salmon and steam vegetables...
  25. There's a legal/illegal list on Open Original Shared Link Hope that helps. The book Breaking the Vicious Cycle is the standard text.
