  1. Oh, yes. There is a new organic store that opened not too far away from where we live. I stopped in there tonight. The owner said she could try to get me some soy sauce that is wheat-free and will call me. If this is successful, I'll let you know. Nothing else in there that I haven't seen elswhere but they have just opened. I also understand there...
  2. My doctor mentioned last week that after going gluten-free the "unmasking" process should be done after the first 1 month to 6 weeks. Not sure I fully understand but I think this means that the celiac masks other problems, and also perhaps the interaction with the autoimmune issues comes to play. Has anyone else heard this? What is your experience? ...
  3. Sounds like you kind of have it worked out for now. Good luck!
  4. Good point, thanks. I've done that.
  5. Hmm, your experience confirms my sense about getting testing here: worthless. You need experienced people doing the tests--and it is rare to find someone here that has even heard of celiac let alone but up on the current developments. Secondly, you should post on another thread here because many people won't look at this post since they are not in China...
  6. Yes I agree, try the diet 100% including dealing with cross contamination as much as you can. The initial improvement is encouraging, and the ups and downs seem common during recovery. You might consider Enterolab to help you confirm the gluten issue.
  7. Yes it is really a problem. I am doing well at home. But going out is a real problem. Tomorrow we are going to a local friend's house, and I am bringing my own food. She can't cook for me and everyone else and still keep my food free of flour, etc. She and I talked it over and came up with this plan. She is making jiaozi. I am bringing something similar...
  8. I think Carla meant get tested before going gluten-free. I second that! But if your tests are not positive, still give the diet a try. There are many here who improve on the diet even though they don't test positive.
  9. Hi Suzanne, I'm sorry I haven't located any sources of gluten free food items in BJ. I wish I had! I live in Liaoning province. Yes, eating out is a real problem that I haven't really resolved at this point. Yes, it is depressing when you see how much is available at home. Perhaps if we could network enough of us here, we could approach a place...
  10. I'm double DQ2 as well, and haven't seen too many of us here. Someone on this forum said Dr. Lewey is one of the foremost celiac docs. So maybe you'll get some further responses here.
  11. What a misguided GI! That was so disrespectful. Glad you took things into your own hands, and are improving so well. Welcome to this forum!
  12. For some of us, the main digestive symptom is constipation not diarrhea. It is also common to alternate. There are several threads here about it if you search. Another thing is to take magnesium your intestine needs in order to contract. You might want to have your vitamin and mineral levels all checked. Celiac causes malabsorption issues.
  13. Hi Carla, Nope, I see Dr. G in Oregon. Right now it is "skype" to phone consults from behind the Great Firewall. Coffee e does help a lot. Right now I have to almost every day to keep functioning. Doesn't help me much with nausea though, but the DGL powder works wonders. Have you tried that? Licorice preparation. Glad coffee e is helping...
  14. Whether you need to be casein free for life isn't conclusive I don't think. I haven't seen anything that says it causes celiac disease like gluten. Dr. Fine seems pretty dogmatic about it, and I wonder if it is based on his own personal experience with milk. What my allergist has explained is that wiith a food allergy sometimes you can never tolerate...
  15. Beyond A Century has L-glutamine, and they told me this and all their amino acids are absolutely gluten free.
  16. Yes I think you are correct, Rachel (the whole post). I thought I had reached that point, but then discovered the celiac after going off lyme treatment. And while I had been treating the mercury for several years (fillings removed '01) DMPS for 2 years, the level hasn't changed too much yet. Doc says as the celiac resolves I may be able to excrete better...
  17. Yes, hopefully it won't be such a major journey back! I have borrelia, babesia, and erlich...(sp?), at least those three initially tested positive. Haven't tested for awhile. Yes, initially it was two antibiotics plus flagyl for the reasons you say, trying to do courses that hit all of them. And yes, my doc has the same message about building...
  18. Symptoms were gone for quite a long time, actually. Pretty much gone by the 2nd or 3rd year of treatment but would return immediately when I tried to cut back abx, happened several times. After adding cat's claw gradually cut back on abx with no problems until went totally off last February (over 2 years). Then no symptoms until mid May. I am just wondering...
  19. Thanks for this discussion, my doctor just suggested I start taking this.
  20. Your doctor's response is not unique. The thing is most doctors don't even know that much about celiac. You are lucky to have had the blood tests and biopsy. The problem is, blood tests and biopsy do not pick up all the celiacs. Enterolab, while not yet accepted by mainstream because Dr. Fine hasn't published his finding yet, reports that the stool testing...
  21. Sounds like you've been gluten-lite rather than gluten free and that may be the problem. Be sure you check all your personal care products for gluten, it is commonly present and not always listed clearly (you may have to call the company but you can ask here and someone may know.) If you are cooking for yourself do you share a kitchen with others...
  22. I never had any problems sleeping until 3-4 years ago, and then it was only once in awhile. About 2 years ago, suddenly I couldn't sleep through the night. Go to sleep but then wake in a couple of hours and couldn't get back to sleep. Dr. checked and tried several things. Not sure I can remember them all. Cortisol levels was one--but it made me worse...
  23. magnesium oxide is another one
  24. I've done them daily without problems when I need it. Normally head for twice a week as a rule or less. At least that's what my doc said.
  25. Hi, sorry I can't really keep up reading the posts on this thread...but wanted to let you know that my lyme has recurred. Took about 4-5 months completely off treatment to start coming back. Started gradually about a month ago with fleeting pains in extremities and joints, increased to morning stiffness, then to all day stiffness and significant pain. ...
