  1. Hi, most of you might have picked this up on another thread here, though I'll just say it again in case. Lyme disease is notorious for causing neurological symptoms and can also be like celiac with many multiple system symptoms. It may be worth looking at other threads that discuss this.
  2. I seem to have the same genes, though symptoms aren't quite the same. Found a couple of references on line to homozygous DQ2 as having more severity as well as longer recovery period after going gluten-free. How long have you been gluten-free?
  3. Welcome! I'm so glad you're here! It is overwhelming--I'm still in that stage, plus still having a lot of ups and downs and wishing to feel a lot better. A day at a time is certainly helpful; Also approaching the changes knowing it is going to take a good while. Its helped me to read other's stories and know that most people have experiences accidental...
  4. Hi Jess, Hope your mother is doing better now. I think it is great that you are helping her find some answers. Keep us posted on what happens with your daugther too.
  5. Hi Jodie and welcome, Glad you are finding some answers and sorry to hear about all you have been through. I'm curious, do you know what your genes are specifically? Wonder if your double DQ2 is the same as mine.
  6. What I understand is at least a month to 6 weeks of antibiotics to treat an initial exposure. The Bb organism in lyme disease has a very long life cycle, a month. During that cycle it also has the ability to encapsulate itself and in that form antibiotics cannot impact it. This is part of the reason it is so very difficult to eradicate once it establishes...
  7. I agree, and welcome to the forum. There is a wealth of information here, you should know that going gluten-lite isn't enough. There is a lot to learn and adjust to. There are many many choices of food that you can eat though, so don't worry about not having enough nutrition for your baby. Usually the positive blood test is followed by a biopsy as...
  8. GI referral is a two year wait? That's bizarre. Do you have any other options? Some people here have had negative blood work and positive biopsy. So if you have symptoms I think you should keep pursuing the celiac question.
  9. I'm 5 weeks gluten-free and the bloating got worse for awhile then better, now kind of off and on. We need patience with this healing process!
  10. That's encouraging Lynne, how long have you been gluten-free?
  11. There is quite a bit of discussion on this board already, if you do a search for enterolab, you'll find a number of people who have had negative results. My impression on this board is that most people who are positive have found it helpful toward pinpointing their problems. My results were strongly positive, and because of my location I haven't the...
  12. Hi Jay, Its a hard decision for you I am sure. Just a note, I found this information about flattening in the duodenum being related to celiac: Open Original Shared Link
  13. I agree, find an allergist that works with food intolerances. There are also some good books out there on the elimination diet. What Ravenglass described is sometimes called the "rare foods diet" which is used for children. You can also do a stricter elimination if you have many food problems, where you fast for 5 days then add foods one at a time...
  14. I agree with Carla. Avoid the chronic form of Lyme at all costs. Check with an LLMD. There is a characteristic rash but not all who are infected get that.
  15. Maybe you could ask the doctor, "What would you tell me to do if I follow the diet for a month and feel much better?" If he/she says he would have you do a biopsy then I would push for that before going gluten free. If the answer is then you probably are celiac, maybe that would be sufficient diagnosis for your doc and for you. Hope you find the...
  16. Welcome! This is a good place to ask questions and get support. My story isn't so similar, but I did have a lot of allergies and then joint pain that turned out to be lyme disease. That's under control but just discovered the gluten problem. Your journey will be unique and so you uniquely contribute to this forum. At the same time many will relate...
  17. Welcome!! So glad you are here and that you have learned a lot to help you heal. Also I celebrate with you the great improvement. Thankfully your doctor was willing to research and admit she might have something to learn!!!
  18. Yes, so malabsorption score is low, which is good. However it looks like he is definately both gluten and milk are positive, and high. Though "high" might not be important, only that it is positive.
  19. I don't know since not much is known about dupuytrens' causes. However, I think it is suspicious since d. is clearly related to diabetes, just like celiac. I found out about the dupuytrens first, in 2000. Just found out about celiac, but didn't have major symptoms, mainly constipation, and that has been a very long term problem. So I am pretty sure...
  20. Yes, and also what does your son want? He is 10 should be able to express a clear opinion. If a doctor recommends a child go through any more of this suffering he should not be a doctor in my opinion.
  21. Yes, true. Its just that I had not seen anyone post here that was so high.
  22. It isn't something that comes and goes like that as far as I know. It is like a "wild" scar tissue that develops in the sheath around the tendon. Mostly commonly in the hands, can be in the feet. Usually on the palms. Over time it attaches the sheath to the tendon, and you cannot extend your fingers (or feet). Surgery is needed to release the tendon...
  23. Hi, Hang in there, it does get easier! Yes, you have to worry about fixing gluten containing foods for other people. Flour gets in the air and you can breathe it in even if your are gloved and/or wash your hands diligently. I had a lot of bloating AFTER going gluten-free but that has improved a lot now (gluten-free for one month). The ups and downs...
  24. No, I'm not looking for another diagnosis at this point, mostly just curious. I was not strongly symptomatic that I realized other than constipation. Also gluten free and casien free plus 800 mg of magnesium seem to be working. Also was apparently being glutened by my hair products and when I started taking precautions with that, things are looking...
