  1. The symptoms you describe sound like what I call "brain fog." That is mentioned other places on the forum if you do a search. It is pretty common for lyme disease too.
  2. My recovery has been very slow, I actually felt worse rather than better for some time, with a lot of ups and downs. The first positive sign was at 10 days, when I had a week of daily BM after years of the big C. That just lasted a week, then the same old same old. I am at 3 months and feeling better, but the jury is still out. My gene type is associated...
  3. Hi, mayo is really very easy to make yourself in a blender or food processor. It takes oil, vinegar or lemon juice or a combo, eggs, and you can add salt, sugar and mustard for flavor to taste. I do this with sunflower oil, apple cider vinegar, and then don't have to worry about anyone else adding stuff I don't want.
  4. Yes, the fecal fat score is not specific at all for celiac as I understand. I do think you should persist for more testing, because you didn't have the most specific of the blood tests. Also there are people with negative blood and positive biopsy. Then if all of that is negative, based on the enterolab do a dietary trial being very strict off gluten...
  5. Just one more comment, I have had a lot of joint pain, and it turned out to be lyme disease. You might check that thread as well, as there are a number of us with both lyme and gluten sensitivity/celiac.
  6. I'm not sure, I have had a similar question. I have a lot of return of old symptoms after going gluten-free, and after about a month a recurrence of lyme disease. The latter could have been coincidence, after being off treatment for it for 4 months.
  7. I forgot to say that along with the magnesium and vit C powder which I take in the late evening, in the morning I drink a couple of tall glasses of warm water. The last few days, it doesn't take long after that to be able to have a good soft results. Hopefully after establishing a pattern and continued healing after gluten-free, I'll be able to eventually...
  8. That really sounds awful. Have you had any testing done for something else that might be going on? I am assuming that you have eliminated any problem foods, like "oldies" that you buy without checking labels that have switched ingredients? Perhaps checking to see if you have developed an allergy? What I understand is that soy can also flatten the...
  9. Thanks Karen. I should say that I am taking the magnesium with the knowledge of my doctor and am staying in touch with him.
  10. The issue has been getting on top of the lyme enough that my immune system can take over the fight. I suspect that the underlying celiac has complicated that process. For several years, each time I tried to get off antibiotics my symptoms would return right away. Finally I was able able work my way off abx after using cat's claw for a couple of years...
  11. A good allergist could be a help to you. I talked to mine twice after the enterolab positive results, and have done some elimination and challenges on foods just recently.
  12. Looks like I am settling in at 1250 mg magnesium oxide, plus 1 scoop Vit C powder that contains 2,350 mg Vit C, 350 mg calcium, 350 magnesium (ascorbate) and 99 mg potassium. I take this all in the evening. So far I don't notice gas and bloating. Also I have gone soy free, which may be helping. I wonder if anyone has had any luck with abdominal massage...
  13. Hi Mike, I think you have a good plan, and it is certainly not going to hurt you to go gluten free! Yes, yogurt would contain milk proteins. What you could do if you are taking the yogurt to benefit the intestine is to take a good probiotic. You can find those milk free. Many of us find them beneficial, though you might have to try different brands...
  14. Janeti, I would agree about the concern for candida or yeast overgrowth. If you have been on tetracycline several months, with no attention to the yeast side it sure seems a definite possibility. Can you handle yogurt? If so, that is a natural probiotic. I have been on antifungals (lamisil mainly) all along with my antibiotics, and my doc says I need...
  15. Sounds like your doctor has not done a typical celiac panel which would be blood tests. Interesting that your stool and saliva tests were being sent overseas. I'm your neighbor, in Liaoning province of China. I figured I couldn't get accurate testing here so have just gone with a dietary approach to diagnosis. You didn't say what your symptoms of...
  16. Yes, I agree. We all want to feel better right away to know that all of our efforts to avoid gluten are not in vain. The fact that you have a period of doing better is very encouraging. It takes a long time for the intestine to repair itself so we need to expect that it has a hard time doing its job. Like Ursa said, you may have to make some other changes...
  17. I've seen some posts on this, perhaps try in the International section of the forum. I am in China, but don't travel back and forth frequently so haven't had the issue yet of carrying food. I carry my food by air within China, and haven't had any problems. You may be able to have a doctor's letter with you. Check with your airline carrier. Also I think...
  18. Micah, I think you are asking really good questions. Maybe Carla knows if there is a way to check with people on the lyme forum. That might be a place to start. My doctor sells supplements as well, however, it isn't a bit advertising thing, its for the benefit of the patients. There are some of the supplements that are only sold through doctors,...
  19. Re food rotation, I can't remember the name. But there used to be several books, and also a cookbook that followed a rotation diet...did the menus for you.
  20. Actually sounds like epsom salts is actually magnesium sulfate. At least I found the words in Chinese, doesn't mean I can find the right preparation or strength.
  21. Thanks Rachel. Is there another more generic name for epsom salts? The trick is to find it here in China, and then, I don't have a bathtub at home. lol If anybody knows, could you PM me? That way I won't miss it. Carla, yeah, I was getting that it was abx related. Was just wondering if you stopped the mag temporarily while you are doing the amoxy...
  22. Yes I agree with what they have said. Biopsy positive is gold standard, there is really no doubt that you have celiac barring a major problem with the person who read the biopsy. And that means that if you eat gluten, no matter how you feel, it is destroying the lining of the small intestine. That is all agreed upon by professionals. You didn't indicate...
  23. Welcome to this forum, I am glad you decided to post. I agree with what Andrea has said. Let us know if you have any questions and how we might be able to help you. One thing, I am delighted that you have this supportive doctor. There are so many here who haven't had that. If you consider more diagnostics, perhaps talk with a good allergist that is...
  24. Oh no, Carla! Sorry to hear you have D. That's weird because after all my big C issues, I now have the D too since yesterday!! I don't know what all you are taking, I am cutting back on the vit C and magnesium. Is there anything like that you can adjust? Judy, I can relate. I used to take at least that many asperin per day, sometimes more. You do...
  25. Hi Jin. No I didn't find any. I'll do without for now I guess. Am trying some new things in the next month, soy free plus a couple of new things that my friends are bringing me. I'll get them the 7th of August. At least things are looking up right now, hope the trend continues. Sherry
