  1. BTW, I found a note in the info from Dr Cowden that spirulina is acceptable in place of chlorella!! So maybe I will try to get some, as long as I can find it pure.
  2. Andrea, I hope things perk up soon. You have had a long time of pain now with that tooth.
  3. Suzie, on the charcoal I usually try to take it in between meals. My doc recently told me to take it 30 minutes before the meal.
  4. Just lost my post...urgh. Anyway, so sorry for the problems you are having. Hopefully RS folk here will respond. Meanwhile, just checking. Sounds like you are very careful. Have you been eating anything that might have changed their formula recently that you didn't check the label? Or with the new laws, some companies are labeling gluten-free when...
  5. I did see a post by someone whose insurance paid for Enterolab. Don't recall the details.
  6. Can you do a concise list of all the things you are avoiding? I am picking up gluten, milk, corn, soy, and some fruits, also fish. You would have a very hard time in China avoiding soy, (soy sauce and oil), corn(cornstarch), and gluten (MSG is wheat based) in the average restaurant. You could eat rice, and a variety of rice noodles, potato noodles and...
  7. Hmm, both of my little fingers come right to the last joint.
  8. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link This are sites that detail the Cowden protocol, if anyone is interested.
  9. Yep I am on the go a lot, carrying my little boxes of frozen food since I can't really eat out. Avoiding wheat and soy in a northern Chinese restaurant is nigh unto impossible. Eventually I may do some experimenting but right now I am enjoying every bit of stability I can gain. And I don't want to rock the boat. Next month I will be gone for two 10 day...
  10. My thought was anything that helps move the food through the system faster, absorbs toxins or helps you excrete them could possibly help with the reaction. But again, I need to research more about the chemical process. Things like really increasing your water intake, making sure you are excreting--even having diarrhea may be helpful as you are getting...
  11. Kassandra, sounds like a pretty clear allergic reaction especially if you have some difficulty breathing along with it, unless that was anxiety as someone mentioned. My husband had a strange case of all over body hives and itches, and we could find no cause at all. In my research I discovered that sometimes a virus can cause that. Could be nuts, or...
  12. Hi, everyone. Just caught up, have been busy for several days and now am on another trip. My schedule for the fall is heavy. Glad I am feeling better overall! Mia glad to hear from you, I see you online--are you awake in the middle of the night again? Patti, great to hear from you too. Thanks Rachel for the mercury info. Actually I haven...
  13. The issue with pots and pans is what kind do you have? It they have porous or scratched surfaces that gluten could stick to, you might be having a problem. Also what about your personal care products? Are others in your house eating gluten, if so what precautions are you taking?
  14. It is possible that it is just taking awhile to fully resolve. Remember it takes adults 1-2 years to heal after going gluten-free. It is also possible that you have other food intolerances which is common for celiacs. For some these seem to eventually resolve. For others, they don't. It is very individual. Your confusion is normal, we all have...
  15. Soy has been shown to cause blunting of the villi, similar to gluten. I don't tolerate soy either, though I don't have extreme symptoms it is uncomfortable and lasts a long time. I feel much better away from soy.
  16. Yes, I still get it at 5 months out, but there is very slow progress. Might be my gene type associated with slower recovery. Get a really good probiotic. Consider L-glutamine which helps heal the gut. This is helping me. Use activated charcoal which may help absorb the gas. Is your elimination ok? Use vitamin C and magnesium, both of which help...
  17. Yes, there are a whole group of us here with the big C as our main symptom of celiac, and ideas about dealing with the constipation. Vitamin C and magnesium have made a huge difference for me.
  18. Since there are lots of causes for arthritis, I would suggest before you delve into the gluten-free diet, ask for a celiac blood test panel Antigliadin (AGA) IgA Antigliadin (AGA) IgG Anti - endomysial (EMA) IgA Anti - tissue Transglutiminase (tTg) IgA Total Serum IgA If that is negative, consider Enterolab, which tests for gluten sensitivity and...
  19. After being gluten-free for as long as you have, it is likely the celiac blood tests will be negative. A positive ttg is quite definitive for celiac. If your IGA is low, you may have a low immune response and the ttg won't show maybe. Unfortunately the blood tests require regular and significant gluten ingestion for months, and even then may be negative...
  20. I think it might be possible to both be allergic to gluten and have the celiac reaction as well. Definitely if you are doing a food challenge, be where you can get to an ER quickly if you do have a strong reaction. Also alka-seltzer gold (don't know if it is gluten free) can help calm an allergy response, or just plain baking soda. I don't know if...
  21. This is helpful. I have been wondering about this myself. Wow, a 30 day reaction is amazing.
  22. I checked all the Rice Dream labels, and most were dated 2005 and had the barley warning. One box, was "enriched" organic and doesn't list the barley. It is dated 2007. I am assuming it does have barley in it, since all reports are that the formula hasn't changed. Grrrr. No other rice milk is available here. But I am going to try making my own.
  23. If the soy isn't the issue, I'd vote for MSG and peanut. At least those would be the first ones I would check because of how common they are as allergens.
  24. Glad to hear that the Miralax helped. If you have this a common symptom, I think it is important that you try to address it on an ongoing basis. I couldn't tolerate psyillium at all either. Also I couldn't tolerate the over the counter fibers. I DO tolerate pharmaceutical grade cellulose, gluten-free, that I get from my doc, but you could likely get...
  25. Donna and Suzie, I second it on the prayer. Rachel, I read your update with a lot of interest. I do have a question about the mercury: After the chelation, is the goal to not have symptoms break through--as a sign we are doing enough detoxing? And is there a set amount of time after the chelation that the mercury is excreted? I know if it isn't excreted...
