  1. Wow, lots of good news from people today. Yay, Kassandra, glad you have some ideas and direction, and will be waiting to hear if you feel better soon. Yay Mia, sounds like there is progress. Yay, Amy. Keep us posted! Also, was it you Kassandra or Mia that asked? Anyway, I second Rachel's answer to the elimination issue: Vitamin C and magnesium...
  2. I recall CarlaB posting about this but I can't remember the details. You could do a search or PM her. She talked about lyme patients I think, taking it as a sign of improvement when they started getting colds, but I can't remember the explanation.
  3. Andrea, that's awful the pain you are going through, on top of all the challenges recently with elimination diets. Hope it is better soon. Rachel, that's great news about chelation. You've done so much to get ready for that. Susie, yep, we've all been there. Sometimes it just takes us awhile to be sure we have to do something! Kassandra, that...
  4. I've been at it since April too, not dramatic change yet but slow change, enough that I think I am on the right track. Still a lot of ups and downs, but now a few great days here and there when I really feel energetic, and like I have a life back. I second Yellow Rose, I am grateful for an answer for which the treatment is dietary and not drugs. I am...
  5. Here's a major favorite of mine, adjusted for my location: Beef and Vegetable Soup 3 T oil 1 1/2 to 3 lbs beef 1 very large carrot 1 medium daikon radish (you can substitute turnip, jicama, potato, yam or anything else you like) 4 large celery ribs 1 large onion 1 T gluten free flour 1 16 oz can of tomatos 2 cans beef broth 1 tsp salt 1/2...
  6. While I haven't had this issue, I just wanted to say kudos for bringing it up on this board so that others are helped and you get the support you need. You didn't say how long since you were diagnosed, so just an encouragement to make sure you are totally gluten-free, including personal products, it takes a while to do this well. Also, if the problem...
  7. I take a very strong probiotic called Theralac. I purchased it online. It says: contains no yeast, eggs, corn, soy, gluten, wheat, casien, salt, or beef products. It is expensive, but you take less so I think it works out to be economical.
  8. Carla, late summer/early fall is the peak for weed pollen. Also my allergist told me it is a high time for mold as well. Today I am going to take an allergra in the morning, and see if that helps. I have a "quiet" form of asthma. Sometimes I get really wiped out, then try to take a deep breath and feel that my chest is tight. Taking a puff inhaler or...
  9. Hi, Kassandra. I hope you can gradually ease into the diet without such horrible symptoms. I'd say move toward complex carbs first, then cut back on those when you are more stable. However, you might just have to get through the couple weeks of herx/adjustment. Please do some detox things--it is so important for many of us. Especially since you have...
  10. I am having another dip today, not really sure why. Might be more carbs in my diet this past week, and might be because I did the DMPS this last Thu Fri. I'll have to see if there is a pattern with that. Also when I tested milk is was also the day after I finished my last dose of DMPS. Wouldn't it be something if my problems were not from milk but just...
  11. Hi, back from my trip and catching up. I had the same thought as Carla, Kassandra. Try easing into the anti-candida diet so that the symptoms are more mild, I think you will have symptoms though, it is pretty hard to avoid.
  12. I would also wonder about some kind of parasite infection since you first got ill eating raw fish.
  13. Hang in there, I spent many hours daily for the first three months combing this and other sites. I actually got worse after going Gluten-free Casein-free, but also with some occasional bright spots of positive indications. I am going on 5 months now, and still have ups and downs, but now have some periods where I am quite good for a week or more between...
  14. Hmm, good point. I'll have to start looking for one too that will replace our usual wheat flour yummy ones.
  15. Yes, I have had flare-ups too but mostly not obvious intestinal issues, other than the big "C". Even that wasn't that bad because I didn't have hard stool, just didn't go very often. I got worse after going gluten-free, but it's like my system is waking up and also I am more aware of the abdominal symptoms. I think it is really important to remember...
  16. Kassandra, can you handle complex carbs versus simple carbs like sugars? Fatigue can come from taking high simple carbs, not sure if it is blood sugar related or allergy or candida or many other things. You could check out the glycemic indexes that are now used for diabetics.
  17. Thanks, I seem to be feeling better today which is good because I am leaving tonight on my trip for the rest of the week. Perked up after taking Allegra this morning, which might be a sign that the fatigue is due at least partly to asthma. Abdominal issues seem to be improving again now. Overall I am still doing well, because the brain fog hasn't hit...
  18. Carla, glad to hear the herx is better. Yes, that could be what is going on for me. For this next week I am going to drop three things I most recently added, and see if that helps. Rachel, all your bottles lined up sounds like me. I have the pills all put out in a pill box for morning noon and night for the week. But there are things I can't put in...
  19. Rachel, that's great news. Andrea, this has been a rough time for all of you, I hope there is good benefit and that the kids regain their weight and energy soon. Five pounds seems dangerous in little ones.
  20. Kassandra, I have also had a huge problem with grass allergy in the past. And I can't tolerate antihistamines well, they cause insomnia for me. Actually I am also allergic to some trees, many weeds, grasses, dust and mites, dander, cockroach , and some other things I can't remember right now. I have a great allergist and have been on weekly shots for...
  21. Hmm, wish I could try goat milk cheese but can't get any here, at least I've never seen it. Maybe I can get some in Beijing. Kassandra, hope you figure it out soon. Just a heads up, I was on a series of acid blockers including prilosec last summer and fall. I had horrible pain from the prilosec and reactions to all the others I tried. I discovered...
  22. I'd also wonder if you are still taking nexium if you are having side effects. I had horrible pain when I took Prilosec, and similar pain with nexium, though not as severe. At least I think you should try skipping nexium for a couple of days to see what happens.
  23. Susie, I have in the past tested allergic to everything, virtually every food, plus chemicals and environmentals. So at this point I have to just try to choose foods that give less problems. Years ago I hadn't been too successful figuring it out, and gradually was better enough that I didn't worry too much about most foods. Of course I lived with the...
  24. Yep, I was most disappointed not to be like Carla with the milk. And of all the foods I have tested this summer, milk seems to have caused the most upset in terms of the intestines--this week I have had a lot more bloating, nausea, and diarrhea. I agree Donna about only one change at a time. The problem has been that it seems like I have normal ups and...
  25. Also there are many styles of Chinese food reflecting different areas of China. The same dish can be made differently in different areas. So don't assume it will be the same in two different restaurants. Several of the dishes mentioned here are Cantonese.
