ARCHIVED Worthington Christian High School
mftnchn replied to a topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I disagree with all the media hype and the public way everything was done. However, I agree with other posters that this behavior is unacceptable in someone who is in charge of kids. This is especially true if the sexual assault was of a minor by an adult. Pedophilia rarely stops. -
ARCHIVED My Favorite Foundation Contains Gluten!
mftnchn replied to i-miss-cookie-dough's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
There seems to be variation among people in terms of level of sensitivity, and this also changes over time. I have read here on the forum that many have become increasingly sensitive over time, and those who were non-believers became believers when they had strong reactions. I too chose to remove these, and took a turn for the better after doing so. ... -

ARCHIVED Ideas On Coping With Nausea?
mftnchn replied to i-miss-cookie-dough's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I had nausea for over two years, due to h pylori but probably also celiac as it is much better now after 6 mo gluten-free. The best help for me was DGL, a form of licorice. In a powder, it is very cheap from Beyond a Century. I also got it in tablet form at my local health food store. My doctor told me it was very soothing and healing for the stomach... -

I agree with the milk and possibly soy suggestions. Also you could have some other food sensitivities, which could also be temporary. Some have had testing done. Others do elimination diets. I got worse initially instead of better. It was like my body was totally overhauling itself to adjust to Gluten-free Casein-free. I think it was also the trigger... -
ARCHIVED Just Found Out About This After 10 Years Of Pain
mftnchn replied to a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I think I would try a week without dairy and see. So many of us are gluten, casein, and soy sensitive. Also, you may have symptoms for awhile to any food harder to digest. It just takes awhile to heal. -

mftnchn replied to Minihorselover's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Celiac could have a sudden onset of symptoms, I think you are wise to check. Yes, do the testing first. Enterolab takes three weeks to get the results, and does not diagnosis celiac. It is useful information. If I were you I would get the blood tests and biopsy, then go gluten-free. Be sure you get all 5 tests (see the Columbia University site or... -

Yes, on the zithromax. Herx just lasted a couple of days this time, but still not that much improvement in stool. I'll see what happens first week of Nov when I take another week off my abx. Sherry -

Also, sorry, I don't know what to suggest about the data entry. Do employment agencies handle that type of thing? Maybe check colleges nearby, sometimes the bulletin boards post part time positions in the community. -

Jin, check out Beyond A Century for prices. They have some really good ones and my doc uses them regularly. What I like is that a lot are powders and very pure. Plus they are great about answering questions. -

Julie, I wanted to tell you that your description of using your neti pot helped me, I have been turning my head to the side to use my syringe and it works even better! -

Jin, you are really in a hard place without a lot of options. Have you considered a job that you could do from home with flexible hours? Like data entry or something? Seems like if you could do something it might give you some funds for a few medical tests and get you closer to your goal. -

Well my thought is if you can manage it, I'd do it. Because if it is lyme brain, if he herxed and improved, he might change enough to want to do treatment. Also, Carla, it looks to me like you have done a great job of parenting. This kind of child could have really gone off the deep end morally and behaviorally--substance abuse, etc. Looks to me like... -

Well, there is a positive change in BM after 3-4 days on the Zithromax. So far so good. I'm now off on my trip for a couple of weeks so probably won't be posting too much. -

Kassandra, this sounds excellent! Keep us posted, we're all hoping for some further answers for you. Melmark, this sounds pretty awful right now. I don't have anything to offer either other than to suggest using organic food and puree your own; could you add something to your liquid and blend it? I am thinking how good cream of chicken soup tastes.... -

mftnchn replied to i-miss-cookie-dough's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Welcome to the board! We have all been where you are, your reactions are totally normal. It just takes time. I think it is good to just do a step at a time. Start by eating simple foods that are naturally gluten free (pot roast with potatos and carrots??), while you go through your kitchen. Sort your kitchen and read all the labels, checking here for... -

That's a wonderful story, its so neat that you were tuned into him. So many with issues like that are just ignored by the majority of people. -
1989 was pretty early days for testing, even now testing isn't the best quality. I'd say you could definitely have been exposed. Some people do seem to contract it without becoming symptomatic. Others seem to carry it without too much trouble until at some point when they go through some kind of stressor.

Feeling better today except for sinus stuff--like a bad cold. BM slightly better....still hoping that the Zithromax brand is going to help. Jin, I don't know about generics in the USA, except at least the active ingredients should meet standards, that isn't the case here often. I think for inactive ingredients, you should get the pharmacy to call and... -

Carla, your son does really sound challenging! Maybe a military boot camp stint would be good for him in terms of learning respect. Andrea, I think you are right, sometimes people settle down in their twenties. Perhaps it is growth and developmentally related. Sometimes it is finding a focus or interest. Sometimes it is life's natural... -

Susie, my buffered C powder contains calcium ascorbate, magnesium ascorbate, and potassium ascorbate. (Thorne) Maybe a buffered C powder would work for you? -
Hi, just a quick note, as there is a lot of good information here. I do think your pain could have more than one cause. I think the fibro diagnosis is solid, but like many diagnoses, it is mostly based on a collection of symptoms. I am another one with years of debilitating fatigue and joint/muscle pain (17 years or so before diagnosis). I tested positive...

ARCHIVED Enterolab
mftnchn replied to LoriG's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Just an agreement with much of what has been said. High fecal fat score is a malabsorption index, but the underlying cause is not shown by the test. Gluten sensitivity or celiac is suggested by your results, but not confirmed as a diagnosis such as you would receive with a positive biopsy. However, there are other problems that lead to gluten sensitivity... -

I think it is so very hard as a parent of adult or almost adult children. We love and want to help them, but they want to make their own decisions and have different priorities. Carla, he sounds very challenging to live with. His noncompliance would make most anything difficult. Does he connect well with anyone? Is it only family and school where he...
