  1. We eat manwich. I use it with leftover pork and make bbq sandwiches with it. I'm very sensitive and have never had a reaction from it. It's on my gluten-free lists. Enjoy!
  2. Yes it does. It is distilled many times and the gluten has been removed. If you are still nervous, there is always potato vodka. I drink Skyy vodka and Famous Grouse Scotch. I contacted the distilleries and they are gluten free. They test them after the distilling process to make sure. What you need to worry about is when they add malt back in after distilling...
  3. The name is Noodles and Company. When you go there you tell them you have a food allergy and they bring out a chart that lists the major allergens across the top and their menu items down the side. You go to the last column, wheat and gluten and go down and anything having a yellow square you can eat. Don't get too excited. There is only Bombay curry, Pad...
  4. Try Chipolte! They have burrito bols which is a burrito without the tortilla. You can always buy their chips to have with it. If you get the bol with rice instead of lettuce, everything is dished out with a spoon so no contamination. If you get the lettuce, they use their hands which have also touched the flour tortilla and you can get contaminated. Also...
  5. I use Bearitos (from Whole Foods).
  6. Deb, the first cereal I bought after diagnosis was the Cranberry Sunshine as it was on Trader Joe's gluten-free list. I ate the whole box and never got sick. This is the first I've heard that it's not safe for us. It's very yummy but I've switched to Mesa Sunrise as it's more filling. I also love the quinoa flakes that you make like oatmeal, hot and add brown...
  7. They sell disposable vinyl gloves that you could wear while baking with wheat flour. I make gluten free bread for my non Celiac husband and he loves it. I also buy regular bread for him for when he wants it, but the only baking I do is gluten free. I plan to make all gluten free Christmas cookies this year also. I'll taste them first, to make sure they're...
  8. Nope, Burdee, I don't have a recipe at all! I'm going to try to find one or substitute Chick pea flour for one of our BGF days (before gluten free).
  9. Every year we have Thanksgiving with my husband's cousin and his family. We alternate homes. This year is my house and will be my first gluten-free Thanksgiving. So, I'm going to make it totally gluten-free. I plan on a cornbread and sausage stuffing, mashed and sweet potatoes, corn and green beans, homemade cranberry sauce, turkey and homemade cranberry...
  10. You're welcome! I even wrote the company thanking them. I can't wait to go back!
  11. I have terrible reactions to band aids, with my skin turning bright red and blistering and lasting over a week. I now buy the band aids for sensitive skin and the ones that are fabric. They don't react like the others. The other option is to put gauze on the cut and use paper tape to cover it. That won't cause a break out either. In my case, I believe it...
  12. Just got back from my first visit to Noodles. I had seen a carryout menu from a co-worker and it said to tell a manager if you have food allergies. I figured it was worth a visit. Well I asked for the manager and told her I was a Celiac and she whipped out a big graph with all the common allergens written across the top and their menu items listed down the...

    ARCHIVED Don Pablos

I went to the one in Virginia where I live and had their low carb salad and chips. He said they had a dedicated chip fryer and another fryer for their other fried things. He said when it gets super busy, sometimes they will have to use the chip fryer as well for regular food but he checked for me and said it hadn't been used that day, so I could have the...
  14. Thanks! Mine didn't come with that instruction. It said to heat it for fifteen minutes before putting the pizza on it. So I will bake it an hour first, like you said, then make the pizza.
  15. I think the box listed soy or soybeans as an ingredient. I threw the box away though. Today I bought a pizza stone and am going to try the Chebe pizza mix this weekend. Wish me luck!
  16. How about whipped cream cheese or goat cheese spread on a rice cracker and topped with a gluten-free sundried tomato? Classy and tasty. Also, white beans pureed with garlic and green onion and served with tortilla chips. And that artichoke mayo dip everyone makes. You can adapt almost any dip to gluten-free simply by making sure you use a gluten-free brand...
  17. Natures Highlights pizza crusts have been fine with me. I've never reacted to them. My problem is cooking them on the oven rack and then getting them off. I keep spilling sauce all over the oven. Any advice? Can I put it on a stone or cookie sheet? I bought some Chebe pizza crust mix today so I will try that next. I made a quiche with cooked rice mixed with...
  18. I added Ragu pizza sauce, trader joe's roasted peppers (on their gluten free list) and fresh onions and hormel turkey pepperoni (says gluten-free on the package). It was so good and I got so bummed... Maybe it was the cheese or soy reacting on me and not gluten...
  19. Has anyone else reacted to Amy's Rice Pizza? I had one last night and it was so good. I added veggies and a little more sauce and thought I was in heaven. Then I sat down to watch Survivor and the @$#% hit the fan. What a nasty reaction! I wonder if it is because they make regular pizzas in the same facility or if it was a reaction to the soy or cheese they...
  20. I would definitely call her and let her know your restrictions and that you would be bringing your own food. She probably won't let you (I speak from experience) but will discuss with you what you can have and then make one or more dishes that you can enjoy. Make sure it's not a honey baked ham as that has gluten in it. I've been through this twice and made...
  21. Someone gave me a white chocolate Reese's Peanut Butter Cup and I just got off the phone with them. They are gluten free. The representative was very nice and explained what anything I couldn't identify came from.
  22. When I contacted Lancome they said they use no gluten containing ingredient in their make up but cannot guarentee no cross contamination. That was good enough for me and I've been using their products with no ill effects.
  23. Burdee, Dr. Mercola's book is called Total Health cookbook and program. It has lots of recipes that of course, have no grains at all and just whole foods. He also has tests to find if you're a protein type, carbo type or mixed and you can adjust the recipes to suit your type. Very interesting. As to the dogfood issue, my father was a veterinarian and...
  24. I take Caltrate which are gluten-free. Also, if you have a Costco their Kirkland brand are gluten-free and say so right on the bottle. But with them you have to take them 3 times a day or more. With Caltrate I take one twice a day. It says gluten-free on the bottle too.
  25. You're right Burdee! I don't either. It helps a lot to read it. And what he said about Menopause was so true in my case! He said soy, dairy and grains produce too much estrogen in our bodies which can cause hot flashes (in a nutshell, he goes into a much more expansive explanation) and by eliminating those foods the hot flashes, etc. should be vastly reduced...
