Encouragement is plentiful here! It is hard to say how long it would take you to feel well consistently. But with your age, and level of physical discipline perhaps you might recover sooner than you think. Each day is a tremendous opportunity for your body to heal. But remember that you should assist your body not only by eating no gluten but plenty of...

This post is especially for the newbie people trying to go gluten-free. I was diagnosed in December of 2002. I already was soy limited due to my long history of hypothroidism plus add gluten-free/Casein free. PHEW!!! This past thanksgiving meal I cooked for 11 people. Nine people do not have any dietary restrictions. My husband should be gluten-free...

Hi, both my husband and I are on a gluten-free diet. I can eat McCann's Oats and I do not have a reaction. However, my husband who is much less sensitive than myself as a rule, cannot eat McCann's oats. Go figure.

I know that this website provides a great opportunity to vent, cry, learn, teach, chat and share. I do think that there are choices for you, it is just getting through the disheartened fact that people, sometimes family, won't, don't or can't share in your experience. I make most of Thanksgiving dinner partly for the fact that I can control most of...

tammy replied to DawnI's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hi, The first thing that came to my mind was hypothyroid. How is he doing now? -
Hi, I know that there are many different aspects to how non-celiac adults and children view people with gluten sensitivity. Some want to help, others are just curious, and still others just shrug their shoulders. But I must say that it is quite upsetting or at least annoying to be in the company of friends who just want to be curious. I feel like either...

Hi, I am just plain scared, frustrated and numb. I need to find a doctor(s) to manage this thing. I interviewed one last summer and he told me straight out that I will need my thyroid medicine for life plus he suspected Addison's and I was already diagnosed Gluten/Casein sensitive and my female hormones are out of whack. Besides the magnitude of this...

ARCHIVED Gluten-free And Sugar-free
tammy replied to sunflower's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hi Sunflower, Yes I can relate. My biggest tip is to really decide what you can and will do consistently. I have not heard that chocolate cravings may mean a lack of magnesium but find that very intriguing. I will say that I have increased my magnesium intake for many of my symptoms. Although I continue to battle the urge for carbohydrates, simple... -
Hello, Congrats on finding a good doctor!! My husband and I live on digestive enzymes. I don't think that we could live without them. They definitely help with bloating, flatulence and bowel movements. I too prefer doctors who will take a more holistic approach to both my diagnosis and treatment. Yes, a gluten-free lifestyle is inevitable...

ARCHIVED Oxygen Therapy
tammy replied to cynicaltomorrow's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi, I did consider oxygen therapy for my candida and other health problems. I do not have any experience with oxygen therapy via intravenous however I have received 8-10 IV's with high doses of vitamins in them. I was not thrilled with its effects on my overall health. I felt very fatigued soon after the treatments were finished. I have not continued... -

ARCHIVED Help A Grandmother To Help An Expectant Mom
tammy replied to rsavage's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Good for you, your daughter may still have time to regain her health. Perhaps telling her that a gene test only points her in the right direction and does her no harm. BTW, I have had all of her symptoms too. I am a person who believes I had undiagnosed gluten sensitivity since childhood. I was diagnosed with hypothroid at the age of twelve and... -
Hi all of you courageous people! I am considering to start my own support group but I thought it best to get feedback from others before I finalized my decision. I would appreciate your input on support groups for people with gluten and/or casein sensitivity. Thank You!

Hi All, Both my husband and I are diagnosed as Gluten Sensitive, so we eliminated gluten from our diet. My question is this, is it common to be on a gluten-free diet and still be deficient in vitamins and minerals? ( I also have adrenal insufficiency so that increases the need for vitamins and minerals) We feel our best when we take daily supplements...

tammy posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi All, I just got off the phone with a customer service rep. from DIGIORNO. I asked if the Provolone, not smoked, sliced cheese was Gluten-Free. She didn't say it was HOWEVER she made it clear that the products are always labeled if there is a gluten containing ingredient in the food. For instance if there was a natural flavoring that had gluten in... -
