  1. Quite a few of us feel very hungrey after we are diagnosed and still healing. Sometimes I wonder if our bodies are basically going 'hey nutrients give me more!!!!'. If you feel hungry eat. If you are having actual pain and you haven't cut out dairy you may want to do so for now. If that doesn't help then do talk to your doctor. Liquid Pepto Bismal can help...
  2. If your blood test was positive you are celiac no matter what the biopsy says. Some doctors are even now skippping the biopsy for diagnosis if someone has positive blood work as there is a 20 to 30 percent of a false negative with both the blood and biopsy. After the biopsy get on the diet strictly. Could you also have issues with candida, perhaps. Talk to...
  3. I have had pancreatis brought on by a severe reaction to an antibiotic that it turns out I didn't even need. I used pancreatin for a few months afterwards and now all is well. It doesn't surprise me at all that celiac could also effect the pancreas and I had issues with it off and on for years before I was diagnosed.
  4. I agree you should mention this to your new doctor to be on the safe side. I would also encourage you to get copies of the first doctors test results from your new doctor and a full copy of your records from the old one and to report him to the AMA. It won't get you back those lost months but it might help keep it from happening to anyone else.
  5. Hi there, I saw in a recent post you said something about replacing scratched pans? can you enlighten me on that, I've started gluten free since xmas, but I still seem to have some issues, while improved, still >_> frustrating

  6. If you have been gluten light for a while you may very well have a false negative. It sounds like you know gluten is an issue for you so do go back to being strictly gluten free after the procedure is done.
  7. Glad he is getting you in quickly. Also glad he seems to realize the endo can have a false negative. Don't go gluten free until after the procedure and make sure you have someone to drive you to and from the procedure. If you go by yourself they likely will just send you home. For me finding someone to take me was the hardest part, well other than the colonscopy...
  8. I also suffered with migraines for years and years. There were times when I didn't have the headache but would still deal with the auras. For me they went away pretty quickly, like within the first month and the last couple years I haven't even had them on the rare times I get glutened. What are you eating? Are you going with mostly whole unprocessed food...
  9. Everyone is different but my symptoms came and went for many years before they became a constant part of my life. It was only in the last 5 or 6 years before I was diagnosed that everything was a daily and nightly occurance.
  10. It usually takes me about 3 weeks to get over a glutening. Like you the D doesn't hit until 2 or 3 days later and that is generally gone in a day but other stuff like brain fog, joint and muscle pain etc last for a bit.
  11. Even though you are both eating gluten free at home is he eating gluten outside the home? If he is it is possible he needs to be completely gluten free and is reacting to the small amounts that he is eating or drinking outside the home. As far as the gluten free diet not being good for folks that are not diagnosed with celiac or GI that is ridiculous. Eating...
  12. If your going to get tested you need to keep on gluten until testing is done. There is the celiac panel to look for antibodies in your blood, endoscopy with biopsies to check your villi, both of which have false negatives. The gene test is done with a cheek swab usually. Also you mentioned a rash in another post. You could go to a dermatologist and ask for...
  13. If you are not already taking a 'stress level' B vitamin supplement you may want to consider doing so. The skin issue you have may be DH, a skin form of celiac. If you do have DH you need to avoid iodine as well as gluten for a while for it to calm down. I would drop the dish soap around the mouth. Just use a good gluten free face soap. Dove and Suave are...
  14. Yea sometimes it seems that way although there are a few good ones out there. They just seem to be hard to find. I think one of my biggest annoyances is the ones who make a point to do stuff like 'doctors or dentists' without borders but if you ask if they take Medicaid they say no. How about they help the folks where they live first? I did a project for...
  15. Either a Kinnickinnick pizza, I always keep a box of shells, Hormel pepperoni and a sheet of frozen sauce on hand or I go with a Jimmy Dean Skillet which has potatoes, green and red peppers, onions and sausage. You just brown it and add a egg. I like those cause one package makes me at least 4 or 5 meals so it's cheap, tasty and quick.
  16. It can take a while to heal and we often have some ups and downs. Do be aware of cross contamination issues. If non-stick pans are scratched get new ones for her food. She should not be using the same toaster as the rest of the family get her one for just her gluten free bread. If her rice had butter on it and someone has double dipped a knife even just one...
  17. Do as another poster mentioned stick with gluten free oats when you try it. However some of us react to even gluten free oats so wait until you are well healed and then eat some daily for a week and watch for a reaction.
  18. We are, I fed her last night in the same area but on the other end of the 'kitty only' counter. She waited until the other kitties were done and down before she approached and finished off their food. With as much as she is eating she may end up as big as Big Boy. We also have seperate litter boxes. She slept with the other kitties last night. I had her...
  19. Glad to hear your feeling better. You may want to check labels for casien as some dairy products are lactose free but not casien (milk protein) free. It might be a good idea to avoid both for a while. Butter is very low in both and ghee, which is clarified butter, is both lactose and casien free, just in case you have problems finding a nondairy margarine...
  20. I think a lot of us can identify with having had to deal with horrible doctors. Hang in there. Do take precautions against cross contamination. Avoid restaurants for now and go with whole unprocessed foods for the most part. If you are eating gluten free bread make sure that you get a new toaster, don't share condiments, nut butters, jelly or butter with...
  21. That's what I was thinking also. I have had the little one downstairs all day today and things seem to have been pretty calm. I caught the big guy sitting on a chair and letting the little one play with his tail but if he looks at her she hisses. I think she will settle in soon but I will let her sleep with me for another night or two. Thanks for the response...
  22. It looks like your blood test was positive. False negatives are common but false positives are very uncommon if not nonexistant. You do have a chance of a false negative with the biopsy so if you are choosing to have it done wait until after the procedure is done and than start the diet. You don't have to wait for the results.
  23. They could all be celiac related. What testing has the doctor done already to see what could be causing the constant D? Have you had the celiac panel done yet? You need to be aware that if you are already gluten free it will cause a false negative. If you plan on testing you need to get back on gluten. It can take some time for problems to resolve on the...
  24. I agree that a trial of being gluten free is certainly not going to hurt anything. Since you already have one celiac child and celiac is strongly genetic IMHO taking him gluten-free is a good idea.
  25. I did also. I thought they were CC'd or something, which they are not. Turned out to be the soy in them as I was eating them before I realized I had an issue with soy. I go with the Glutino crackers now. I don't think the bread has soy though I could be wrong. I thought it close to eating styrofoam so was very happy to find Kinnickinnick and Grainless Baker...
