  1. Happy birthday and may God bless you today!

  2. Hey Sally! I live just south of Boston, on the Red Line. I'm 24 and work in television. I'd love to meet others in the area too; I like the dinner party idea. Let me know if a group forms! Liz
  3. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! That is such good news. I'm making a trip up there VERY soon!
  4. That is SUCH good news!!! Thanks for sharing!!! Rialto has always looked so good, but I never tried it. I used to frequent the Henrietta's Table Sunday brunch (it is absolutely amazing, but pricey too), pre-diagnosis, but Adam, your nod inspires me to go back.
  5. Hi Susan! This all sounds very familiar. I went on a rafting trip the week of the 4th and here's what I brought for my lunch that day: Dried Mango Slices (from Trader' Joe's) Cinnamon Almonds (from Trader Joe's) Chicken Sandwich w/mustard (made from Pamela's Bread Mix) Choco Loco Bar (from Enjoy Life) They all traveled well in a large Ziploc...
  6. A few months ago I ended up at a California Pizza kitchen in Boston with a large group of people. This was before my "official" gluten sensitivity diagnosis, so I wasn't comfortable telling people it wouldn't be a good idea for me to eat there. We were also celebrating the finishing of a marathon by my roommate and she got to choose where to go, so CPK...
  7. Hi Margaret! I work in Quincy and have found an AMAZING health food store that has the largest selection of gluten free foods that I've seen -- it's the Good Health store in Quincy Center: Open Original Shared Link The people there are really helpful, so if they don't carry something that you need -- they'll probably order it for you. I...
  8. Great news, Emily! I'm glad you're feeling better. It took me a few months to start feeling consistently good too. Care to share your homemade cereal recipe?
  9. Donna, That's great that you were thinking about telling her about the forum -- I say next time you're there, you make sure to get in her line and tell her. I'm sure she'd be flattered to know you remembered her, and even more grateful when you tell her about the forum. Being newly diagnosed, I'm sure she's yearning for some contact with others who...
  10. Oh, gosh. Some people just don't understand and it's unfortunate. I'm sorry this is happening to you. The "can't bring your own food" thing is ridiculous! Whenever I'm in a situation where I know I can't eat the food before me, I usually pack a little cooler and keep it in my car (although I'm guessing you might not have your car with you). Perhaps...
  11. Hi Vicki and Zarfkitty, Your replies are extremely helpful. I plan on printing out each thing I find on gluten sensitivity -- and we'll see how open-minded my PCP is That being said, I'm going to email you zk and use your packet as a template -- that's very, very kind of you! I'll let you all know how the appointment goes. Thanks...
  12. Hi Everyone This is one of my first posts, so I just wanted to throw out a thank you to you all. I have been a lurker for months and find this forum a source of comfort, information and community. It's because of you -- the one's who post, who call the companies, the ones who ask restaurants to cook gluten-free -- that the awareness is growing and making...
  13. Ohhhhh, how I can relate. You're not alone rbeeka! This weekend, for instance, I went out to eat with my boyfriend and definately had some CC issues in my food -- not shortly after eating it was like I was stoned (not to mention the extreme stomach pain and D). For example, my boyfriend asked me to get him something out of the fridge -- I responded...
  14. I totally hear you, Jess. I had a bad weekend because of eating out (I was in VA). Cuchi Cuchi is a really eclectic place -- definately the type of place I'd go for a romantic dinner or with my girlfriends if we wanted to dress up (I still haven't eaten there -- but I was inside once but left because of an hour long wait). Your celiac menu confirmation...
  15. Hi Winki, I live in Boston, so maybe I can help. There's a restaurant in Cambridge called The Elephant Walk that has a celiac menu. I believe it's French/Cambodian and pretty tasty. It's a bit on the pricey side, but it's a nice night out. There's also a place called Cuchi Cuchi in Cambridge that supposedly has a celiac menu too. I say supposedly...
  16. Thanks for posting this, Char! Everyone's input was very helpful. I'll be up there the 4th of July weekend -- I can't wait to try Maggie's!
  17. I don't have a trampoline of my own, but I take an urban rebounding class quite frequently at my gym -- it's a great workout! My sister had her heartrate monitor on during a one hour class once and burned over 700 calories (she's 5'8 - 150). I was worried about the bouncing upsetting my stomach, but because there's so little impact, I've had no issues....
