  1. I buy a can of mushroom stems and pieces add the whole thing liquid and all to the food processor and chop it up. To that in a pan over low heat add a cup of whipping cream or half & half, some salt and pepper, thicken it up with some corn or tapioca stach. It takes only a few minutes and is delicious. 2. Thank you!! Thank You!! Thank You!! My 3 yr old granddaughter which we adopted last year fit the discription of Strong Willed, angry, wild, and every other discription on this post. Since I am the one with celiac and she is not related to me I took her off of milk after reading of your successes. She is a different child. It was only two days before my...

  4. There was another post a few days ago that explained it this way. When you start healing you start absorbing. In the past it was mostly passing through you. Made since to me. Hang in there it does get better. I make all my food from scratch now as I am gluten, rice, and corn free and still eleminating. Yellow Rose
  5. I love apple butter. What brand was it? Yellow Rose
  6. My husband is a deacon in the Roman Catholic Church and we have had several discussions with our priest on this matter since I am the one with cealic. After testing positive for the antibodies I have deceided to abstain from the body of Christ even though the sisters have assured me that the communion wafer that they make has all the wheat protien taken...
  7. I have swelling, redness, stiffness, and joint pain if I get any corn or rice. Corn syrup is in everything. My processed food days are over and I am only eating from scratch. It's hard but I am getting used to it. I thought gluten free was hard but gluten, corn, and rice free is a real pain. Yellow Rose
  8. I have a hard time paying the price for the potato starch! Have you gone to an Asian food market. I got potato starch for less than $1.50 a bag. Yellow Rose
  9. I am currently doing an e diet. I started 3 weeks ago. I was looking at the Paleo diet and found a link on e diets. www.frot.co.nz/dietnet/resources/ediet_howto.htm This one was aimed at people with arthritus and since I have RA I choose to do it. It is very restrictive in the beginning. For a week you eat only white fish, trout or mackerel, carrots...
  10. Blue Jean Girl, I am at my wits end. 53 and not getting any younger have been in extreme pain for a solid year now. When first going off gluten got better but seem to have hit a plateau. I know it's something I am putting in my body on a daily basis so the e-diet made sense. But I didn't clear at all. So now am adding back in foods one at a time. The...
  11. Is winter squash low oxalate?? Rowans Resources The low oxalate diet has acorn squash listed in the low oxalate area. I checked several other lists and not one had any kind of winter squash listed. Yellow Rose
  12. Step 1. Research the 504 plan. You can have your child declared a 504. The short version is this is a legally binding agreement spelling out how your childs health concerns will be addressed by the school. Classroom, lunch room, field trips, etc. Typically the 504 is used for a handicapped child, but it does apply to Celiacs and it does apply to food allergies...

  15. Oh April what a horrible experience. But!!! you really need to think about your needs and not what others think. It is just not worth all the reactions that you go through. Most people won't even remember it by the next day anyway since it doesn't directly effect them. Look at it another way if this was someone else and you were the company or employee...
  16. Katyo, If you have tested positive for the antibodies then just breathing in the flour particles will get them into your system and set off the reaction. Hope you get better soon. Yellow Rose

  18. It was actually more widespread (basically from head to toe) prior to making diet changes but since then it only persists in my head. Even if I do not eat *anything* the inflammation does not subside. To me this indicates that something present in that area is also producing something toxic...could be an oxalate-producing fungi....thats what I'm trying to...
  19. Hi All, It's taken me a couple of hours to read all of this but it is very interesting. I started an elemination diet a week ago that was very restrictive and suppose to help Rhematoid Athritus. For the first 6 days you could only eat, white fish, lamb, carrots, zuchinni, sweet potatoes, rutabagas, peaches, pears, and spring water. I don't like fish or...

  25. Baking powder Here's baking powder: 1 tablespoon cream of tartar, 1/2 tablespoon baking soda, 1/2 tablespoon arrowroot. That's it, it works just as well as the stuff you buy. Or You can substitute baking powder in place of baking soda (you'll need more baking powder and it may affect the taste), but you can't use baking soda when a recipe calls for baking...
