  2. Hi Amanda and welcome to the board. The best advice I can give you is to read as many posts as you can. I read for 3 months before joining in and I learned so much. Any question I had was somewhere in here. Everyone is so helpful so don't be afraid to ask. You can still have cake and cookies they just won't be made from wheat. There are some really...
  3. Hi everyone, Hi Judy, I'm back. I love this thread. I am in southwest Texas zone 9 and left several gardens due to moving 3 times in 5 years. This year I deceided to do only containers so I can pick up my garden and move it with me if we wind up moving again in the middle of a season. I have 6 kinds of tomatoes, snap peas, snow peas, and a bunch of...
  4. Hi Everyone, I have not been on for a while due to holidays and moving. Moving was hard on the body!!! After cutting out nightshades in October and the first two weeks of November I started adding them back in starting with mashed potatoes and giblet gravy as well as fresh tomatoes that were on a relish tray at Thanksgiving. Hurt so bad for the rest of...
  5. I don't know about jumping through hoops to get gluten free hosts. Our priest as soon as he was told I had Celiac went on line and researched and found gluten free hosts. He bought them and then told me what he had done. I choose not to partake of them as they are made from wheat starch and water and I won't take any chances on that. I do however partake...
  6. My suggestion would be to put all your food in ziplock bags. That way nothing falls in that could cross contaminate you. I agree with labeling with bright stickers so that the others in your home won't get in your food accidently. I live in a house where gluten is everywhere but I have managed in the last 6 months to get glutened only a couple of times...
  7. My DH came home with a bottle of Texas Redneck Gourmet BBQ Sauce. It was given to him by a coworker who knows the guys who make this stuff. I couldn't find any info on the web site on it being gluten free so I called. They were so nice. They had no clue about gluten but wanted to know everything. They called the suppliers and checked it out and the products...
  8. I called and yes you can have general mills coffee. So go out and buy some and enjoy. They are gluten free. French Vanilla is my favorite. Yellow Rose
  9. I have been looking at my small town grocer but no luck even checked out Wal-Mart and again no goat anything. Where are you getting these cheeses? Yellow Rose
  10. It can be very frustrating working with Dr.'s who think they know better than the parents what's wrong or not wrong with our children. My child came within days of dying from a stroke because the Dr's thought her headache that had gone on for a month was all in her mind. They told me to check her into a psyc ward. Have you tried keeping a food diary...
  11. You are more sensitive because your gut is healing and now you are absorbing more so reacting more. I did the same thing with rolls and my family loved them but I warned them this is the last year and I will be sending them the receipe. There was flour all over my kitchen and I didn't get glutened but it was a pain cleaning it up. I did use a mask that...
  12. I was just on an elemination diet that suggested the same thing. I couldn't find the gold kind but did check with the company before looking and it is gluten free. Yellow Rose
  13. Sounds delicious I can't wait to try it. I will have to sub sorgum flour for the rice flour. Thanks for posting this. Yellow Rose
  14. I agree with you. I also am going to go sugar free ( ) in January. Hopefully this is one resolution I won't break. I bought an e-book on candida and it was really good. You don't have to change your ways of eating forever usually about 6 weeks. I can handle 6 weeks at a time. It says the actual length of time the cure is going to take depends on your...
  15. I'm with Shan on the dairy free. Have you tried removing all dairy? We took our three yr old off all dairy and she is doing wonderful. Yellow Rose
  16. I use Quaker and haven't had any problems with it. Yellow Rose
  17. Tea Tree Oil will help. Have you changed your toothpaste? Some have sodium lauryl sulfate in them and they can cause mouth sores in some people. Yellow Rose
  18. I went to Olive Garden in San Antonio yesterday. It was my DD birthday and she wanted to go there. This is the first time I have tried to eat out at a nice place since being diognosed. I checked out the web site and asked ya'll for your advice. The web site said to ask for a manager if you were needing gluten free food. So I asked the waiter if he had...
  19. Wonderful idea. I loved all the suggestions. If someone does this let me know where to get them. Yellow Rose
  20. You might try reverse psychology it seemed to work in this family. I told all my kids, family, and friends that they could eat what ever they were comfortable with. Just don't expect me to. I cooked gluten for them and gluten free for me. Slowly they tried my food and found that it's very tasty. My husband has lost 35 lbs going off the wheat. We are...
  21. Ok I found the restaurant guide and all the info on Olive Garden but does anybody know if the parmasan cheese they add to the salad is safe? Yellow Rose
  22. So give on the recipe. I want some too. Yellow Rose
  23. I tried looking on the web site but can't find any info other than they do have a gluten free menu. Does anybody know what is on that menu? I am going tomorrow. Thanks, Yellow Rose
