  1. Yeah, the View New Posts button that I always use is moved. Same one as Carla, i assume. I had a moment of outraged panic before I found where it is now.
  2. Stuck days suck. When I have those days I just want the day to be OVER so it can be tomorrow. It's got sumphin' to do with that triangle sign, doesn't it. Worked on the weeds garden some more today, and my back is now scorched purple. And I've got a stink goin' on. Someone came on a little bit ago and revived the GlutenEase thread...
  3. Unfortunately, a lot of these things are either brand-specific or variety-specific. There are many spaghetti sauces that have gluten. There also tons of chips that have gluten- flavored potato chips must be checked, "regular" cheese Doritos have gluten, and many tortilla chips do as well. Some types of yogurt and pudding also have gluten. Some things...
  4. As always, thank you so much for sharing, Rissa!!!
  5. Susie!!! Sooo glad you pooped in! We MISS you! I'm sorry about Jenn moving. Not great timing, is it? Oh yeah! :foreheadsmack: Yeah, we found out that Luke has 20/20 vision. Why he leans so close to what he's reading, I don't know. The eye doc told him to quit it. Edited to add... He did it again. Changed the post format... header is to...
  6. Got this from my mom over the weekend, and it made me do this. Then I tried it a couple more times. Except I didn't care if anyone watched me attempt this. HOW SMART IS YOUR RIGHT FOOT? You have to try this please, it takes 2 seconds. I could not believe this!!! It is from an orthopedic surgeon............ This will boggle your...
  7. I know. He's awesome. I will get after him- when he puts up some current pics, I'll let you guys know. He landscapes, he's a builder, he writes music, sings and plays guitar... all really well. Why didn't I get any of that? /uploads/emoticons/default_blink.png' alt=''> He's also a good writer. A snippet from the essay on Open Original Shared Link...
  8. Our land is about 2 1/2 acres. Do you guys use acres??? The problem is, the whole thing is cleared. The woods and creek edge our property.... but we literally have a 2 1/2 acre yard. There are 2 Bradford Pear trees in the front of the house (not close enough to provide shade,) 4 more to the side of the house, and one lonely maple tree in the whole...
  9. I agree with Ursa. If I add flax meal to a recipe and it makes the batter or dough look to dry or stiff, I just add a little more of the main liquid-- water, milk, whatever. I've added it successfully to muffins, pancakes, and pizza crust. I always put it in my bread recipes. Remember- once you've opened the package of flax meal, you should store...
  10. Hey Amanda. We went to Pilot Mountain State Park on Saturday afternoon. Only minutes away (and free ) We don't go nearly enough. I grabbed the camera, but the batteries were dead. That happens so often, I am quite certain Ezra picks it up and turns it on when I'm not looking. Random pictures (often tv screen shots of Scooby Doo and Batman) back up...
  11. Happy Birthday!!! And thank you- I don't know where I'd be without this place.
  12. Thanks, I'll do that. That's interesting. There's a big difference between yeast problems simply being common in Celiacs, and saying that yeast and gluten are actually equal triggers/invaders. Where did you read that? (I'm not challenging-- I want to read more about it.) Yes, I've been hearing stuff lately about how closely tied together...
  13. OMG!!!! Can it be?! Is this true!? Because I have to say, folks, that if this is true it could explain a year-long medical mystery for me. My mom and I refer to it as Sarah's Sunday Runs. Ahem... Seriously, though, this is kind of depressing.
  14. So I did some reading on zonulin. That was discovered years ago... I totally missed it- hadn't heard of it. Thanks for mentioning it. I can't believe it's not talked about more here.
  15. This is extremely interesting, obviously! I understand what you said about zonulin causing permeability. I've never heard that before, but I'll go with it for a moment. But according to what I've read, the idea that autoimmune diseases can be caused by microorganism attack is not a certainty- and in fact is quite controversial right now. I'm not...
  16. Oh Jess, I am soooooo glad you said that-- I had the same thought about that particular person in that thread!!!
  17. What a great story! And ah, yes... The waiting-for-you-to-leave-so-I-can-poop silence!!! We were just having a discussion about that in the Silly Yak thread a week or so ago...
  18. I agree. It's really, seriously irritating. Well said!!! I can't stand it when people state their personal opinion as fact. It seriously drives me up the wall. The arrogance... makes me want to barph. Well, the boys had a friend sleep over last night-- my friend's son who I was telling you guys about. This was the first time they've...
  19. There's 4 or 5 members who flat-out irritate the crap out of me. I generally do the Jess thing, and don't let myself reply. As for eating organic... yeah, like I said... I'm looking for ways to shrink my grocery bill, not inflate it.
  20. I have, too!!! I think it's because they're so low maintenance... you think they just don't ever need water at all, and then... OOPS. Like Patti, I buy organic if I can, but definitely not all the time, or even that much. It's too darn expensive! I bought a couple bags of organic carrots the other day, since they were only a few cents more than...
  21. Why is it that when we think of gardening, we always picture a lovely woman in a breezy sundress, with a sweet straw hat? When I garden, I'm in my grodiest old shorts, holey tank top, and am covered in dirt and sweat from head to toe. Irises and lillies both do well in full sun, and come in every color you can think of. Dianthus and poppies are good...
  22.  Swamp ass!!! Not very often, but our winters are so mild, that sometimes they do. I have one single teeny little purple petunia growing bravely out front... but a bunch of them came back in one of my window boxes on the back deck! I was amazed. I had put four colors in that box last summer, and all four came back this year. This...
  23. Heh... If a plant dies on me, I label it "one of those hard to grow types," and I try something else. So I have a jillion different irises and day lilies- they thrive so well here, they're actually very hard to kill if you want to get rid of them. Same thing with my gladiolas. For annuals, I love petunias... so satisfying, colorful, and they get huge over...
  24. Omg! My MIL just passed on a tantalizing bit of info... One of her coworkers is Celiac, so we often trade tips and stuff. APPARENTLY there is a new Italian restaurant in Winston Salem that has a gluten-free menu- including rice pasta! Must get more info... all my MIL could remember is what road it's on- and there are literally probably a hundred little...
