ARCHIVED Confirmed - Blunting Normal
Ridgewalker replied to CamiJ's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
It is true that depression can cause terrible physical symptoms, as can anxiety. I was actually struggling with anxiety/depression induced nausea, headaches, and dizziness a couple months ago. An anti-anxiety medication (Vistaril) used as needed helped me immensely. However! Depression is NOT going to speed up your metabolism so that you lose weight... -
ARCHIVED Confirmed - Blunting Normal
Ridgewalker replied to CamiJ's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I am utterly appalled that they're both saying your "blunted villi" are "normal." It's not normal or healthy for the villi in someone's intestines to be blunted. That is a sign of a big problem. There's two possibilities here: Your villi were not blunted, and the gastro doesn't know what blunting means or implies; or, your villi were blunted and the... -

A phunny from Brian... giggle... he said he knew this would tickle my particular brand of humor. One day I met a sweet gentleman and fell in love. When it became apparent that we would marry, I made the supreme sacrifice and gave up beans. Some months later, on my birthday, my car broke down on the way home from work. Since I lived in the countryside... -

My gluten-free Shake n' Bake recipe: 1/2 c. gluten-free Southern Homestyle corn flake crumbs 1/2 c. grated parmesan a couple shakes black pepper approximately 2 tsp Italian seasoning We've found this to be extremely close to Shake N' Bake. -
Citation, please?

No one's scrutinizing Rachel. She's been here for years.

Been thinking about you!!! Another phunny from Mom: The World's Shortest Fairy Tale Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?' The girl said: 'NO!' And the girl lived happily ever after and went shopping, dancing, camping, drank martinis, always had a clean house, never had to cook, did whatever the hell... -
Note-- I just edited post #160 rather heavily, so Rachel, you may wish to re-read it. Thanks. I agree. Has anyone here actually said that it should be taken off the market? I don't think so, but I'd have to go back and re-read. Perhaps it's been implied by some. (But not me. )

PS.. Yes, I do believe that most cases of GI are Celiac (and since we are both making educated guesses there, we can probably agree to disagree on that one,) but no I'm not going under the assumption that those gut issues define Celiac. I'll say again... I recognize that there are other causes of GI. My problem with that paragraph was simply this-...

I agree, and acknowledged that that paragraph was saying true things. (BIG sigh of relief!) Thank you!!! That's exactly what I've been trying to say since post #150. I went back and took another look at that ad, to try and pinpoint exactly why it had left me with such a strong impression that it was geared toward Celiacs. Then it jumped right...

I certainly do not think that every person with a Celiac gene will develop it. I agree with this and never have said otherwise. I do not assume that everyone has Celiac. I do think that a large percentage of them do, as I said, but not all. I never said that, and I do not believe it. Rachel... I only pointed out the fact...

I have to admit, I'm pretty shocked that anyone would actually think it's more likely that they're talking about anything other than Celiac, when they're talking about villous atrophy. As I said before, I realize there are other causes of villous atrophy. But if you are gluten intolerant and you have villous atrophy... come on. The chance that you have...
-
They can be. But villous atrophy (in particular) being caused by something other than Celiac is extremely rare. More to the point-- when you're talking about villous atrophy and gluten intolerance, you are talking about Celiac Disease. Anything else would be a very dubious stretch. The problem is that they immediately contradict themselves in...

The following quotes are taken directly from Enzymedica's (maker of GlutenEase) website. Here's the link again for easy reference: Open Original Shared Link Near the top of the page, you see the CYA statement: Continue reading, for Enzymedica's explanation of the "cause" of gluten intolerance: Note that this paragraph gives no explanation...

Again, I don't think it should be taken off the market. Put in a fast and dirty fashion: I think that it's marketed badly and dangerously. Of course they can! It happens every day. Dietary supplements are also frequently smacked down for false and misleading advertisement. And that's a GOOD thing. It probably doesn't happen enough. ...

Just got an excellent one from my mom... had me snorting and guffawing! I LOVE MY JOB . . If you don't laugh out loud after you read this you are in a coma! This is even funnier when you realize it's real! Next time you have a bad day at work think of this guy. Rob is a commercial saturation diver for Global Divers in Louisiana He performs underwater... -
PS- Unclezack, Thanks for the suggestion for heartburn, but I am actually on a low-sodium diet. Yes, the heartburn is agony... it actually feels like my esophagus is trying to crawl right up throat.

I have to say, it comes back to this for me, too, as I mentioned last night. I know, essentially every person's health is their own responsibility. And I said a couple days ago, it's not that I think the product itself should be taken off the market. But I do feel that the way GlutenEase is marketed is irresponsible. They imply too much that the...

Hooookay, confession time. It so happens that I actually do take digestive enzymes myself, if I've been cc'd. I've been taking them for a few months now. I actually truly, honestly, didn't even equate what I take with what we've been discussing here until tonight. It doesn't really negate anything I've already posted, though. It's never...

A quick phunny from Ezra just now... "Mom... why did you wanna name me Ezra? Why couldn't you have named me Ice Man, or Hot Rod?"
