  1. Nikki, I'm totally falling in love with Boris. I just want to pick him up and cuddle and kiss and snuggle with him, murmuring gooey baby-talk, like "Oh aren't the cutest, sweetest little fuzzy, cutey-patootey of an English kitty cat..." etc...
  2. Rachel, I hope you (and anyone else) don't take my example of my distrust of blood test studies as a veiled endorsement for EnteroLab. Maybe your discussion of EnteroLab had nothing to do with my example, I dunno, but I just wanted to be clear... You won't find me pushing EnteroLab (unless maybe if you dig up old posts of mine from a year ago or so......
  3. I'm wondering what criteria he used to proclaim those other intestines "normal" and "healthy," if they contained blunted villi. Or is he assuming that villi blunting must mean nothing in a person whose blood tests are negative... Faulty logic, is what that is...
  4. Suh-weeeet! Oh mah gah! Plum Polenta Cake... sounds like such a bizarre combo, and yet really yummy at the same time. Do you really make this?
  5. Or how about, You know you have Celiac KIDs when... ... You still carry a diaper bag with wipes and extra clothes, even though your kids are 7 and 5. ... Every so often, there's a bad week, and you have to do a "poop load" of laundry. ... Your small children understand the concept of contamination, and stop other people from contaminating their...
  6. I'm sorry you're feeling bad, Jess. Although, considering that most news has been reduced to sound bites and 20-second snippets, I wouldn't let it make you feel lame to not be able to follow it. (If you got the gist of that badly-constructed sentence, you're fine.) I really hope you get some relief, though!!!
  7. Rachel, a lot of the info you've posted is very interesting- both what's related to Celiac and Autism, etc. I appreciate that we're all going more in depth with this. While it was obvious from the start that the companies producing these enzymes don't recommend them for Celiacs, it's better yet to have these discussions about whether there's anything actually...
  8. I have seen some really neat kids' t-shirts on the Web that say things like: "Don't feed me! I have allergies." or specific ones, like: "I'm allergic to dairy!" etc... Here's a link to some gluten-free shirts and pins: Open Original Shared Link If you're crafty, you could make your own with a plain t-shirt, stencils, and fabric paint.
  9. That one's definitely my favorite! You have to in NC, too. I just lie- with total conscience-free abandon.
  10. Welcome to the forum, ya poor thing! I'm so sorry you've been going through this. This really is the BEST place I've found to talk to other parents of Celiac kids. I think it's an excellent sign that her appetite, sleeping habits, and attitude have improved! I don't blame you for not wanting to put her through a biopsy now that you're already seeing...
  11. I have to agree.
  12. I'm not a moderator, but I can tell you that you're free to post relevant links (and btw, you are permitted to list your own webpage/blog in your personal profile.) This is not like some other boards where alternative theories are not allowed to even be discussed. It's good to discuss these things and hash out conflicting ideas and opinions.
  13. Ungh! I didn't misunderstand that one. It's 1am out here on the east coast. I gotta go to bed.
  14. Rachel, I certainly never intended to put words in your mouth. If there's a misunderstanding, I apologize... I'm just not sure how else to take what you said. I read over it a half dozen times trying to figure out if I was reading it wrong. But when you said: (Boldface is mine, to show exactly what I was seeing.) ... I took it to mean, if GlutenEase...
  15. They take enzymes to reduce their risk for what, though? Symptoms or intestinal damage? I don't think I'm splitting hairs by asking that... It's a very important distinction. If this enzyme did diminish or prevent intestinal damage... that WOULD be a treatment for Celiac Disease. The entire Celiac medical community would be all over it like flies on poop...
  16. While I certainly agree that improving digestion is, in general, a fine idea, the enzyme does do harm if it masks symptoms of intestinal damage, which is still what I think it's doing- if it does anything at all- because there is no evidence that it prevents or diminishes intestinal damage. Even the company itself doesn't claim that it does. I have...
  17. As far as people cheating... you may be right. And yeah, that is certainly every person's choice. And I dig what you're saying about this stuff being more than/different than pain pills. But I have to point out that we don't know to what extent less symptoms = less damage. It definitely looks like there isn't a perfect correlation between the two...
  18. My two cents... Even if this product DOES work to relieve Celiac symptoms, it's still dangerous. It's NOT going to prevent intestinal damage. Therefore, all it's going to do is make it easier for people to "cheat." Isn't it hard enough to stick to this diet already? I consider myself fortunate, in a messed up way, that I have strong immediate reactions...
  19. Is Open Original Shared Link the one you're looking for? (Flaxmeal Skillet Bread)
  20. My oldest son sometimes gets a fever when glutened. Seems like it's always lower than what you mentioned, but he does get a fever. As for vomitting, yes I do. The last time I had a bad glutening, I was stuck on the toilet, and PROJECTILE vomitted all over my bathroom at the same time. TMI, I know, but... yeah, it was heinous. That was the second time...
  21. Hi, and welcome to the forum! How long has he been gluten-free? I assume, since he's only 1 year old now, that he must have been pretty little when he was diagnosed! That seems to suggest he had a pretty severe case, since it's often difficult to diagnose young children (there's a high rate of false negatives in little ones.) My reason for bringing...
  22. I know how confusing it is. I've been there, and I still go through it. But you've got to stop giving her the gluteny food. You know she is gluten intolerant. Let me sum up what you just wrote: -Your daughter had diarrhea for 7 weeks, and it stopped when you took her off gluten. -Her mother has Celiac, which is more hereditary than doctors will have you...
  23. Olive oil and canola oil are considered the healthiest oils to cook with. Some non-nut/seed foods high in healthy fats: -avocado -olives - black is better, but green is good, too -salmon -mackerel -herring -eggs aren't bad- they've got a bad rap, but are super healthy in moderation I know that's not much, but as you already mentioned, nuts and...
  24. Ah, yes... That's the Waiting-For-You-to-Leave-So-I-Can-Poop Silence. Sometimes I just wanna yell... "Just poop already! You're gonna give yourself a hemorrhoid!" Oh mah gah!!! I didn't even notice! That's not good, I'm the official proofreader for everyone who knows me. I must be slipping. YAY!!!!! And you got engaged in...
