That is so interesting about your sons' teeth. Two years ago I went to see a new dentist becaue I had moved. Because of the move, I had gone a bit longer than 6 months between appointments, it was more like 8, but he found 4 new cavities, and 2 fillings that needed replacing. I just assumed my previous dentist just wasn't very good. Now I wonder, if this...

ARCHIVED Is A Medical Dx Crucial For You?
sneezydiva replied to radgirl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It's important to me to get one. My blood tests were negative according to the doctor. I plan to post the numbers here when I get my records though. I have a "borderline" wheat and barley allergy so I really want to determine if it is allergy or a true intolerance. I know for me the course of action is the same regardless. But I want to know exactly... -
I don't have an official celiac diagnosis yet, but one of the many reasons I'm so convinced I'm gluten intolerant is my reactions to beer. I was a very moderate drinker in college because beer I'd get drunk easily and it always made me feel somewhat ill. Not just the morning after, but while I was drinking it. And I got "hungover" on very little. Then...

ARCHIVED Scary Low Blood Sugar Episode Last Night
sneezydiva replied to sneezydiva's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thank you so much for your reply! You've really put my mind at ease. I think you are right. I drank so gator-ade and that has made me feel better too. I'll make sure to eat plenty of rice and white potatos to make up for all the pasta and white bread I'm not eating anymore. -
ARCHIVED Scary Low Blood Sugar Episode Last Night
sneezydiva posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I woke up at 3:00 a.m. completely sweaty, shaky/chillled, heart pounding, nausaous, and when I sat up I was dizzy, the room was spinning. I've had little bouts of low blood sugar before, but nothing like this. I immediately got up and went to the kitchen, quickly poured myself a glass of milk, and went into the bathroom because I thought I was going to... -
ARCHIVED Mini Test From A Newbie
sneezydiva replied to kalikohl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have been asking myself this very same question. My blood tests for Celiac Disease were negative even though I ate gluten before the test. But I went 2 days gluten free and felt pretty good. Then I went 4 days gluten free and felt great. Then I went 2 more days, was feeling pretty good and intending to go longer, but was at a party and ate some gluten... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Blood Tests Came Back Negative!
sneezydiva replied to sneezydiva's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thank you all so very much! Your support is overwhelming. As far as the blood tests go, I was never gluten free before the test. I had had an endoscopy for what everyone thought was an ulcer, and Googing "endoscopy and biopsy" led me to discover this board. Anyway, I knew to keep eating gluten so I did, though I fear maybe some days I didn't eat enough... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Blood Tests Came Back Negative!
sneezydiva posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I don't have the exact numbers to post, they are going to make copies and send them to me. But the P.A. literally showed them to me, and they all were definitely negative, nothing borderline compared to the normal values. Iron levels and such were excellent. I'm so confused. I really thought I had at last found an answer for I've felt so crappy for... -
ARCHIVED Unbelievers
sneezydiva replied to kjk's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yeah, I'm not niave enough to think everyone will be supportive. My inlaws don't even take my allergies seriously. But it will be a little easier than not having the diagnosis. -
ARCHIVED Unbelievers
sneezydiva replied to kjk's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
This is the main reason why I am seeking an "official" diagnosis. Most people still place a lot of faith in doctors, and will take an official diagnosis much more seriously than if I suddenly announced I am avoiding gluten. My mom is an R.N., and while she is well awar of doctor's foibles, I know she will be more supportive if I have an official diagnosis... -
ARCHIVED Can You Be Celiac, But Not Have Anemia?
sneezydiva replied to sneezydiva's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thank you all for your replies. CarlaB, I had some Kosher salt and have tried it, and already it seems to be helping. Rosewynde, I will defintely go get some thermotabs. Thanks all for reassurng me. I know I'm putting the cart before the horse without knowing my test results. I've just have felt so crappy for so long, and all the CBC's I've had... -
I also agree with the doctor speaking to him. Authority helps. I remember when I was first diagnosed with my dustmite and pollen allergies. My husband was with me when I was tested, and the doctor was very stern with him about how his pillow had to have a dustmite cover too, and things he needed to do to the house. As great as my husband is, I'm not...

ARCHIVED Can You Be Celiac, But Not Have Anemia?
sneezydiva posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I go to get the result of my celiac and other blood tests in a week. It sounds like unexplained anemia and is a big symptom of celiac. But I've had tons of blood tests in the past and never shown to be anemic. Now, I have always taken a multi with iron everyday,as well as many other antioxidants in a desprate attempt to get more energy. I also CRAVE iron... -
ARCHIVED Questions - How To Get Diagnosed?
sneezydiva replied to photocat's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Food allergies can cause nasal symptoms. My ENT tested me for food allerges when the shots for my pollen allergies weren't working as well as expected. Eliminating th ones that showed up highly positive helped my sinuses considerably. Not to say you can't have celiac. I also didn't have digestive complaints until recently, but I am quite convinced I have... -
ARCHIVED Finally Got My Biopsy Results
sneezydiva replied to sneezydiva's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thank you both. I will be trying the diet for sure. As far as "needing" another biopsy, I think I will cross that bridge when I come to it. -
ARCHIVED Finally Got My Biopsy Results
sneezydiva posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yup, after all this waiting, it turns out all he biopsied was my stomach inflammation. No ulcers and biopsy was negative for everything. But on the bright side, my meeting was with the P.A., not the doctor. He spent a lot of time with me. He wants to get my gallbladder checked out, even though the symptoms don't quite fit. I told him about my history... -
ARCHIVED Biopsy Before Blood Test?
sneezydiva replied to JessieFree's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I'm still very new at this, in fact I don't even have my biopsy results back. But from what I've read, sometimes doctors do the blood test after the biopsy because if it is positive, then future blood tests can help determine whether the gluten free diet is working, or if the patient is unwittingly consuming hidden sources of gluten. It's obviously much... -
ARCHIVED My Unusual Symptoms
sneezydiva replied to a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
You can als get magnesium with Epsom salt baths. A study in England showed some of the magnesium is absorbed systemically by your skin. I take 1-2 baths a week. It helps calm me down, and helps my allergies (which research shows either is caused by magnesium defiecency or the allergic response depletes mgnesium, they aren't quite sure yet) Don't... -
ARCHIVED Endoscopy On Wednesday
sneezydiva replied to lob6796's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I just had one 3 weeks ago. No food after 10:00 p.m. the day before. Only clear liquids in the morning (water, apple juice gator-aid) , and no liquids at all 3 hours before the endoscopy. -
ARCHIVED Facial Splotching, Paleness, Puffiness
sneezydiva replied to grey's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I'm not diagosed yet, but I would have to say, no you can't spot a celiac by looking at them. And I think this is true of many illnesses, not just celiac. I am blessed (or cursed depending on how you look at it) with beautiful skin. I look younger than my age. I personally can see how my complexion has deteriorated, but compared to most others, I still... -
ARCHIVED Had Endoscopy Today
sneezydiva replied to DarkIvy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Honestly, I would consider sticking with this doctor despite his horrible bedside manner. Now that he has done the scope and seen for himself something isn't working properly, it sounds like he is commited to solving the problem. I would do the other test he is suggesting. It could very well turn out that the biopsy is negative, and you won't be able to... -
ARCHIVED Be Proactive In Your Health Care!
sneezydiva replied to lob6796's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Wow! That's great news. It does pay to b proactive, that's for sure. Your experience also explains why I'm getting my biopsy results from the P.A. I guess the doctor has to save his precious time for consults and endoscopys. Part of me wondered if I had insulted him in my sedated state, since I think he is a huge jerk. -
ARCHIVED Positive For Allergies But Negative For Celiac?
sneezydiva replied to MissCici's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My experience with allergy testing for my pollen/enviornmental allergies is that the skin test is far more accurate. So I agree with your nurse. I move around a lot, and have to get periodically retested and have my shot adjusted. The one doctor who used a bood test, the shots didn't work at all. They grudgingly retested with a skin test, and the results... -
What is it with these doctors? My mom was an R.N. and she always said that most specialists are jerks. Actually she used stronger language LOL. I'm so sick of these doctors who think they know your body better than you do. I had a very similar experience with a rheumatologist that my primary doctor sent me to. (Although, it turned out it wasn't the...

ARCHIVED Lab Test For Celiac
sneezydiva replied to pixiegirl's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
The Mayo Clinic info on Celiac says a gluten-free diet can cause blood tests and biopsies to appear normal. That is a site that most doctors would consider reliable. Open Original Shared Link Under Screening and Diagnosis--last paragraph.
